  1. Not exactly unexpected tune these days, but Radio 6 this afternoon Steve Lamaqu had Bari Track playing while he read out a review of a cheese rolling competition! That would have been trippy back in the day on the way home from a niter hearing that combination on the radio !!!
  2. And at a more affordable price too! Seen the one on Popsike when looking for an idea of value on the battered eBay copy. Shows the difference when Funkyou put it out there with their following. Still, you’d think bids wouldn’t have hit the level they did given the recent 50 dollar copy.
  3. Seen this on eBay and knew most of the lyrics when listening to the sound clip. Can’t place where I know it from, possibly a tape swap back in the day or anyone know of it being played out? Nice tune indeed!
  4. Ray Pollard at Yarmouth weekender was tremendous. Live vocal superb and he seemed genuinely taken aback by the reception ….”wait till I tell my wife about this!”
  5. Bizarre not offering to overseas. He had Les Chansonettes listed the other week and sure it went for about 500 quid.
  6. Any mention of Cecil in that magazine “Hi Spots”?
  7. Found it, thought it had been on here before. It was only 100 copies after all!
  8. As I recall in Koppel’s article he casts doubt on the dealer having sold them all individually. If 500 copies had hit the uk it would have been obvious even over a few years, so the gist was what happened to that box . Can’t see that Koppel would have any reason to exaggerate a find that he got nothing from. We’ll just need someone to come up with a scan of the Shades article, but I’m pretty certain the number was either 500 or 1000
  9. In one of the early Shades of Soul Martin Koppel wrote an article in which he mentioned seeing a box in a Detroit dealers place with 500 or 1000 copies, can’t remember exactly. He goes on in the article to say next time he visited the dealer claimed to have sold them all individually to the UK. Be interesting to read that article again, anyone got a scan? Cecil an iconic record and the definition of NS too I would say…all time top 2, but certainly not that rare
  10. Exactly what I thought when I read it’d been done
  11. About 8 years ago seen an International GTO’s listed not stating if an original or boot and starting at a tenner. Could see the Bell Sound stamp in the photo do bid £25 to keep an eye on it, expecting it to go up to true and not thinking I’d win. Forgot about it for the week then was very pleasantly surprised to find I’d won it for 20 quid!
  12. Reckon this is a class down tempo track from Roy
  13. Sold a Joe Hicks “I gotta be free” to Japan. Hollywood to Edinburgh to Osaka is a fair journey!
  14. Big record early 90s for Sauss played from the original acetate, a 1 off I believe
  15. Cheers Steve, good to read again It’s Frenchy & His Allstars “Bush” on CapCity Scott
  16. Arrived yesterday, good going under the circumstances
  17. Seems to be moving through NY well.
  18. To my ears Mac Staten gets carried away and adds in a “fucking” at about 1 min 34 on “There she goes”
  19. Rarest of the Rare niters were immense especially. Always packed and a great atmosphere.Had some brilliant t trips to those on coaches from Edinburgh and in the legend Melv’s car.
  20. Some photos from 90’s niter posted by Maureen Wallace on FB recently. Hope this is OK sharing here Maureen, but guessed it’s fine as in public domain on FB. If not let me know and I’ll delete post
  21. That’s it, 10” single sided. I bought it offRob M early 90s and sold on to Kitch about 10 years ago. Was a thread on here(I think) discussing April & Blackwood acetates; “Standing in the need of love”, etc and it was mentioned on there that the Funny Face Girl track was an unissued Chancellors CapCity recording but can’t remember the full details. Also had another A&W 10” “My heart still belongs to you” played as Chris Bartley. Think I sold it to Al Coney, be good to hear that again too.
  22. Mel Williams only 23 dollars more than Sam Dees!! Not that there’s surprise any more on the balance between demand pricing against rarity!
  23. Sorted now thanks
