  1. Got to be real as I thought, take a look at Popsike as there’s plenty of US demos passed through over the years
  2. I always assumed that the ABC Paramount white demos around early 90s were US originals. Big record in Scotland at Allanton and before then. Sure Jock had a uk Pye acetate of it which he played as I recall.
  3. Isley Brothers “ Seek and you shall find”
  4. Always liked the Jades since first hearing on a Pat Brady sales tape early 90’s, but never a 5k tune surely. Reckon Pat had a small stash of them as remember considering buying it more than once. The 60 quid he sold it for seemed reasonable at the time!
  5. https://youtu.be/zR9pEqayHr8?si=pHkUfIOIQQIGdKje Poster of this YouTube video seems to think it’s “con” and I can kind of hear it being that and it does fit the tale. The YouTube poster could have just typed up what they were hearing right enough though
  6. Looks likes someone blagged the interview for putting this “Northern Soul” comp together This is the best Decca can come up with from their vaults? Oh dear…
  7. Absolutely THE all-nighter record for me and still get goosebumps when I hear it! Always takes me back to the very best of time on the scene for me. And here’s why….recorded on my Sony tape deck in 1990 then cleaned up by Chalky and posted on his Mixcloud. The whole recording is worth a listen, but head to 37.5 mins to hear it blow the roof off
  8. Even with big numbers of youngsters coming onto the scene there’s still an ever decreasing spiral of those who would be inclined to be collectors. Of those, how many would have the pockets to fund it seriously and then out of those with the means how many would actually want to/think it sane to lay out a few grand on a record? That’s a very small number I’d guess. Looking at disposable wedge younger generation don’t have it easy. Sure many of us could say similar, but as an example when I bought my first flat it was about 3 years wages for a gas fitter like me. Now same flat is at least 5 years wages, so the comparison I know would have made a big difference to me back then. So there’s less spare cash to most and the vinyl they can buy if they wanted it hugely more as well. When I was 19 I was on about 70 quid a week as 3rd year apprentice and could buy likes of “ Bettin on Love”, “ She said goodbye “ for ten or fifteen quid on Pat Brady’s week in week out. Someone getting in to collecting now is going to need a whole lot more percentage of their disposable to even buy lower mid range stuff like that. That’s a barrier to getting onto the road to serious collecting too.
  9. And since you’re not a Facebook user, can’t recommend this enough…
  10. Sure you’d like this Scott. Every second Friday on Mixcloud, live only….
  11. Was the Profonix played as a cover up?
  12. Listened to the first 3 hours and thought most of it was decent, though like most, not at all interested in the cover version bands. What was however superb was hearing RS selection; William Powell, Cecil Washington, John & The Weirdest, Little Ann, etc on mainstream radio- that’s fantastic, so fair play to them getting RS in and to him for focusing his selections as he did. I’ve turned off for now as already heard the proms thing before, but will dip back in later for more. Looking forward to the 100 Club set.
  13. That’s great that it’s not even the first record on the list, very unassuming as if it wasn’t the best record in the auction, when in fact it’s the best record of all time!
  14. Little Johnny Hamilton Strong VG+ to Ex- condition £1000 inc insured postage Paypal F&F Happy to deal through a mutual friend if required
  15. Remember Keb playing this back to back with the Citations at Allanton.
