  1. Toronto is a great City to visit ; take a walk along Queen Street ; Koppels shop there then Cosmos further out of town - ain't gonna be full of bargains but good browsing. Few more stores in and around town too I seem to recall. neil
  2. I love the descriptions / blurb "sounds great today" '"Could go big with a few spins" my favourite possibly "getting spins " or "picking up plays" as mentioned already ...."under the radar" always a good one. "One for the more discerning dj" been a few masters of the art over the years Sometimes require a pinch of salt but long may it continue I say
  3. Did you see review in July Record Collector ? Maximum : Five Stars
  4. Here you go : couple more flyers im sure the Rock City do's were discussed previously on here : prob wider topic too.
  5. No probs Chalky pm me your email if you want ; I'll try and do it over next few days.
  6. Great events these were. dug out these.
  7. Louie Vega part 2 3 x 12's worth it for 'Been Such a Long Time' with Josh Milan. Fantastic. old Masakela tune as it turns out. never knew.
  8. Yep, really really good read this is.
  9. Dropped you a pm thanks Neil
  10. Roisin Murphy : Jealousy (disco mix : Crosstown Rebels 12) stormer !
  11. Blimey I'd not thought about it like that with the sound files etc : Derek's thoughts is a good idea as well. I was just thinking about a book !
  12. if the run of Shades Of Soul issues were bound together in I don't know maybe something like a book with a jacket it would fill a huge void in the documented history of the, and I hate this phrase but here it is 'UK Northern Soul' scene. I'm sure that someone on here was going to start such a project to write about the period (can't recall specific dares but starts approx mid 80's) , I don't think there's any need it's all here. you could add in Blackbeat too and that would pretty much cover it for that period in time. Just a thought really. Not a clue how you would go about this Could SS collectively fund it if nobody wants to take it on (with necessary permissions)out in time for Christmas !! I guess Derek and Steve have some copyright type control: so permissions would be required as appropriate. Be a bloody good read even as it would for many of us for the umpteenth time like a diary almost. like I say, just a thought. Apols it it's been floated before,
  13. Mind you I think Pete Tong seems like a decent bloke. i reckon any of us would quite fancy the curve they've been on !!
  14. All good thanks man ; q's around the block at trotters ? hazy memory kidda !
  15. In an owd warehouse in Mansfield called Rennaisance by any chance youth ??!!
  16. Dropped you a pm : thanks
  17. I would say keep your eyes peeled for soul packs ; There are some listed on here now with contents named that you can check out via you tube etc. and they are hellish value. Anglo American do some too, 100 count can't remember price but worth a punt. Anything you think is crap put in your top cupboard and I promise over the following years you will find some gems when you return to them. Nothing like getting a box of records to sort through when you don't know it's contents.
  18. Nowthen youth have we just publicly uncovered That Funky Kid ?? Good to catch up with ya at the weekend : was thinking after we spoke about it that Mansfield Swann niters don't get the nods deserved. Neil
  19. And remember it was Lord Marriott that gave That Funky Kid the name That Funky Kid
  20. Those booklets with tiny print were brilliant : full of bargains but full of info too, just used to go through them over and over again. Meticulous rules about ordering it was a relief to get your records in the post not your cheque back. Slightly off topic but imagine going back to sending cheques and ' May take up to two weeks to clear' maybe even 28 days ! What with paypal etc you can get your vinyl now within a day or two.
  21. Dropped you a pm cheers
  22. Agree on the you tube clips : I also got to point where I often give up on that style of ad when on iPad. Links best bet I reckon. i do though love the hype "under the radar " " her next big one ?" "Just right for now" "will have its day" "just watch it go" "sleeping monster" etc etc : not sure if it carries much weight but I like to read em !! Rod Dearlove was great at this on his Voices lists. Happy New Year one and all.
  23. Heres a couple more pics from The Thing in Brooklyn. There's some bloody odd stuff upstairs too !
