  1. top tune... Back on topic....... I would rather hear an hour of things like this than the top 500 or an hour of "dick waving" "look what I've got"top jock-cheque book". It's called using your imagination and doing something different. It is what the Northern scene (Rare or whatever other bloody pigeon hole you wanna file it in) was built on. I love it when I hear things like this been played. Hearing something I don't know ~ that I've then gotta go buy ~ should be the reason why any one one of us still has an interest in this music. Off to walk the dog.
  2. anyone know what the one Pat auctioned went for? £293 last time I looked. cheers
  3. wait for the next event description..... MOVO my original vinyl only.....
  4. Following on this thread...... One PS copy on Pat Brady's auction list at the moment. I think he confirms that it's rare on blue PS. see pic of the one he's got... However... "he's spelt the title wrong" thinks I... See pic of mine..... I guess the demos were just a typo.... How many of these around then?
  5. Embellishment that's a nice way of putting it.
  6. thank you .....my tastes have always been a little "left field" top sound that should be played out more.... thank you to Andy and Pete also for the kind words.....
  7. caught the second half of the set. good musical choice. nice to meet you
  8. Hi Peter, not noticing any delays at present. Not fast, not slow. Last "consignment" sent 27/09 and arrived 07/10. USPS first class, nothing special. December is the real slloooww time. Maybe they are just like me....slow at sending. Give them a nudge. regards Steve

  10. Finally watched this....along with the last 2 weeks of the Almighty Johnsons....now there is real telly! I gave it 4. Well made. Bit obvious. Better than i expected. It's not the end of the world as we know it.
  11. Hi Chalky, I paid a visit to the garage on saturday......I had a root in the boxes containing the tapes. good news is there are probably 100 or so.......bad news is about half don't have track listings. I have dug a couple out with track listings. Its a job for someone with more patience and inclination than I possess pm me if you want to know from who etc. best regards steve
  12. Hi Phil, apologies mate. Was gonna tell you but thought if we made plans I would only fail to turn up like I normally do..... you know me ~ I can do a no-show at my own house!
  13. That was a good spot from Andy at a nice local venue on a dismal Summer afternoon. He got the dance floor moving.... Good company. Good conversation. The Guinness was not bad either.....just not quite enough of it. His use of the mic left a bit to be desired tho...!
  14. TAT. in the same way that parkas are tat. in the same way that Harley Davidson clothing is tat in the same way that spencers, vests and beer towels are tat. BUT it will probably attract a whole new crowd of returnees to the "life style" they enjoyed for half a summer in the mid 70s so it cant be a bad thing can it? oh and I can see both of my lads, and their mates, using the bags for college/sports, but I cannot imagine any of them suddenly wanting to join the "life style"
  15. Hi Brad, wonderful gesture. Best regards Steve
  16. Agreed. I believe more quality records were introduced to the scene after Wigan shut. (....pause for bricks been thrown....) Somewhere in the garage there are a couple of Live at the TOTW tapes. See if I can dig them out. I am very interested in seeing/hearing George's sets. I always liked Mr Sharp and think he is often forgotten. and under recognised. Him and Mr Pearson used to promote some very innovative nights in Bradford in the early 80s. Very educational/inspirational and sparked my passage from routine club classic sounds to rare/newies. Keep up the good work
  17. this post made me dig the 45 from the "box to dispose of" in the garage.......... now in two minds....... thank you derek......... anyhooooo........no mention of the other side.......Little Richard does latin soul take on little piece of leather...... could go big...

  20. Hi Ady you wanting to borrow "Boomerang"? Steve
  21. Raelettes is best...the others are just versions...... .... it's that sort of uptown noise that used to make me run to the dancefloor and try to make myself fall over....... still not a stale sound even now. by the way, does anyone else find the visuals to the Ikea ad freaky? The sizes of the "dolls heads" had me do a double take...odd in the way that the "bingo ball head" advert is..........
  22. cheers Phil. Is that my belated birthday pressie from you?
  23. Thanks for the link. Worth five minutes of my time definitely. Reasonably well written: an enjoyable read.
  24. thanks for the post.. just been into record cupboard to dig this out to play.........annoyed the dog and the kids but left a big smile on my face......what were they doing in the studio when they cut it? genuinely forget what a mad bonkers noise it is ..............forget the fashionable view that everyone wants to tell you northern is... instrumentals may not be everyone's cup of poison, but I would honestly rather hear this out than most of the crap pedalled as Top 500 sounds and played to death to a revivalist audience with painted on ears and baggy trousers........ it is rare on PS. What's it worth? Probably more than a lot of big ticket items...however as an unfashionable sound its not gonna go for book value....where's the kudos in paying through the nose for this ? However, I would love to see how Manship would wordsmith an auction advert for this........
