  1. I still think that this did not get released - sorry Ian & Dean, but there is a chance that you 2 guys are mistaken - it does happen to the best of us - I would love to be proved wrong but I just don't think I will be - only my opinion of course ??
  2. Ian I just don't believe it exists - happy to be proved wrong though - no malice intended ?? i am just very sceptical these days jim
  3. The Si Hightower sounds great Ian - first I've heard of it to be honest ??
  4. Having read this threat through now, there are some reputable people here starting to back pedal - first they remember it being green, then maybe it was heavy so could be a test press - I will believe it when I see it - I smell a load of BS - and that's not short for blues & soul !!!!
  5. Ian Dewhirst - you mention a Sy Hightower LP earlier in this thread - can you give more info on this please ?
  6. Mark - this is an awesome piece of work - would love to get a copy of this to frame it - where can I buy one? best jim
  7. never seen it on this type of label Andy and great info again from some very knowledgeable people on the subject of the Darrell Banks Volt LP, i remember getting this from the US in about 88/89 and could not believe how good it was - still one of my all time favourite LP's - his ATCO Lp ain't too happy either mind you once again great info from all who responded to Andy D's original post - you gotta love SS at times!!!!! jim

  10. thanks for the response Kev, very interesting best jim
  11. actually I'm with Byrney on this too - a lot of great things discovered post wigan one thing that i have always wondered though is this - everyone always talks about "that came out of Levines collection when he sold up" - however, knowing some of the stuff that did come out of IL's collection, I'm wondering if IL knew what was there in his collection. OR, did he have his collection that he played from AND THEN loads of records that he had never gone through and therefore didn't realise what was there (60's newies etc. is what i am referring to) with the potential to be big just curious really
  12. Just curious if someone had one at a reasonable price? pm only

  17. what ever happened to Jim Wensiora ?
  18. Listen - the majority of "northern DJ's" or people who DJ at northern events, have Dj'd all over the place from bloody Lands End to John O Groats, since the start of the scene - HOWEVER, they I have never heard one of them publicly use such a "twatish term" as "National DJ's" - maybe you use that term to impress your pals at work, but I'm afraid it doesnt impress us on here - don't you get it yet???
  19. great memories of Guys Soultown all-nighters - many DJ's at the top of their game back then
  20. well said Stevie G exactly what i (and probably many others) was thinking, although if i have a few beers tonight, mines would be full of expletives and get me banned from SS.....it might be worth it in the words of Del Boy...."what a plonker"
  21. tell you what Alan, you like those foreigners !
  22. yes i'm beginning to think the same - sooty sure is a "big hit for himself" SOOTY, you quote - I do recall being the only one Nationally to spin many of the tunes I listed during the period designated....up North and down sarf....at the major Nighter venues including my own St Ives and the Maltings.what with him DJ'ing Nationally!!! firstly, reference this quote - i doubt it, and secondly as Chalky quotes, most had probably dropped them by that time! WTF - I've been on the scene a few years and NEVER heard ANYONE use such a stupid phrase as being a NATIONAL DJ and yes Chalky, not one "newie" listed Sooty, by "bigging yourself up" like this, you sure are leaving yourself open to negative feedback!!!
  23. hi steve glad its not just me!
