  1. Can anyone tell me which is the rarer record. The one on Classic or Pearce. Just curious, I think it's a great record.
  2. My mates and me did six trips to the states during the early 90's. The frightening one was in Memphis - Visited a record store on the outskirts of the city, a brother was being zipped up into a body bag outside the store. Not wanting to pass the shop by two of us went in whilst the others kept the Chevy running. We quickly went through as many tunes as possible but there wasn't anything there and our minds were not really on the job. Left shortly after that to drive by the Stax site, not much to see but an experience all the same.
  3. Your right the man is a genius, with so many to choose from it's an extremely difficult choice, but the track that always stands out for me is - I DON'T WANNA BE HURT BY YA LOVE AGAIN From the 1973 United Artist LP - LOOKING FOR A LOVE AGAIN Patrick
  4. Mandy/ Mark (Didn't expect you to be sitting @ home - I was the Cokney w*****r that you used to pester you for Reggie Alexander everytime you played down South) Glad I'm not the only one then. I'm not licking my wounds too much as eBay is a little free @ the mo, just won Major Lance - Without A Doubt for next to nothing Thanks for the reply Pat
  5. Going out to all those staring at a computer screen and not 'Gittin' Down' @ Cleethorphes NOW. Are you jealous 'cause you are not there for whatever reason (Me = due to young family/huge mortgage/justifying getting away for 3 days/ recovering rates - No excuses really), or are you content in being the 'Armchair Collector' Something I have come to terms with in the last few years. Having experienced 5 Cleethorphes Weekenders and at the last count 40 Soul weekenders in my 38 years on this earth in some respect I feel out of touch, however my love for this music will never leave me; that I am sure of. Just wondered how others felt about this. Patrick
  6. I can feel a thread coming on tunes that were deemed to be house at the time of release and now mysteriously have turned into soul anthems. ARTHUR MILES - HELPING HAND (New Music)
  7. What are the going rates for - Al Hudson - I'm About Loving You (Atco) Soundbreakers - Trying To Back To You (Symbol) Bobby Shannon - I Get My Groove From You (To-Mar) Midnight - Keep On Walking By (Ariola) Thanks
  8. Totally agree - Ron Henderson is an essential purchase. As well as the indemanders, the unreleased tracks do not disappoint, particularly ''Nobody Will Ever Take Your Love From Me'' Anyhow look forward to review. s7oul

  15. This one is going out to you guys out there who profess to be into Real Soul but can only really get your heads around Sixties/Northern/uptempo sounds. Can those who this applies to really class themselves as true Real Soul fans when they dismiss the deep soul / ballads element of our music. The stompers crowd out there please prove me wrong & tell me they have artists like Bobby McClure, L V Johnson, McKinnley Mitchell, J Blackfoot, Tommy Tate etc in their collections
  16. I'm pleased about that 'cause I picked a mint copy this week for 2 quid in a junk shop
  17. Can anyone help with a price on 100% PURE POISON - YOU KEEP COMING BACK on UK EMI. I know the mainly Funky LP goes for a few quid.
