  1. Top tune from one of the best groups around. We are booked in on the Friday night can't wait. Only two shows in London.
  2. I got mine direct from Universal. No problems.
  3. Marvin Gaye - Mercy, Mercy, Me. One of the greatest soul records ever made. The words just blow me away even to this day, so political, and with so much meaning. Pure class.
  4. Try Piccadilly records in Manchester, they may have copies left.
  5. My set landed on the door mat this week. Must say what a superb selection, every track is a winner and the quality is great. i now have both sets and feel they are worth every penny to have this quality on 7" vinyl . The second set is worth getting for the Marvin Gaye track alone.
  6. I would take the Bunny Sigler track off you for £8 let me know the postage. thanks Tony
  7. I still think it's a great record, as you would expect from Van McCoy. It's very rare and it was played when many great tunes were on the scene. To me it beats some of that 100mph and pop dross which was around.
  8. Played loads of this type of music at The Ritz revival in Manchester last week. It was great to spin all the old 12" classics
  9. Hi there is the Blood Hollins - Don't give it up still available. Would be interested. thanks Tony
  10. It It would be worth staying all night for that tune Ady. Just about one of the greatest soul tunes ever made. Debbie was unbelievable at the gig she did in Yorkshire last year.
  11. Archie Bell - Where will we go when the party's over David Ruffin - Walk away from love Debbie Taylor - Never Gonna Leave in that order, spine tingling soul music.
  12. Would be interested in the We the People. Could you send me details then we can get in touch. thanks Tony
  13. Remember Al Green, not sure he still lives there as my Mum still lives on the same street where Al lived. There was a whole gang of us who used to go to the Casino back in the day. Many weekends were spent at Wigan on a Saturday, the Ritz on a Sunday, and back to the Catholic Club in Irlam where Carlos would drop a few tunes for us to end the weekend. Probably only myself and Carl (Sharples) still on the soul scene these days.
  14. Yes it was sad news, myself and Carl went back a long way having lived in Cadishead, he had a fab record collection. Send me your details we should have a catch up.
  15. Remember all these great Manchester clubs and going to most of them. We also started a Northern night at the Rainbow Rooms in Eccles, actually made my DJ debut alongside Dave Evison. Caroline's was a fab venue for hearing new tunes and also buying them, remember driving to Prestwitch and back to buy a copy of Garnet Mimms - Looking for you. With regard to Carlos he was a good old friend who lived in the Irlam / Cadishead area and usd to go to the Casino with us. He became good friends with Richard and acquired some great tunes which became top tunes later in the day. Carlos moved to the USA some years back when his bakery business folded. Sadly he died approx 6 years ago, everyone had lost contact. Anyone want to pm me its Tony Shawcross (Shawky) was the nick name back then!
  16. Always be behind the decks or in the room at least 30 mins before your set, this avoids replication and will help you to start with a floor filler. Don't start with a record which will clear a floor, you can always play something different in the middle so a set. Good luck to all the scene needs up and coming DJ's as well new and younger soul people.
  17. The vocal and production on "it's all up to you" awesome and what a performance at Trentham Gardens.,one of the best soul groups of all time. RIP Marvin your voice will be sadly missed by all.
  18. It's on my play list for the mini all nightwear at the Ritz Manchester on bank holiday Easter Sunday . It was a classic from that era. Look forward to seeing lots of shufflers at that event. Copies are about £15 and you should be able to pick one up.
