I have the LP on Gaslight (or summat like that, can't remember off top of me head?) from 1973 It is dead rare BUT it did come out.......although it may be demo only which still wouldn't make it eligible imho ? Cheers Steve
-
Yes and Yes Eddie! Think a lot of folks forget Flowers came out in 1989/1990!!!!!!!! Still goes for big bucks tho! JA from same sessions as 'I got the vibes' Cheers Steve

.....................and i'm damn glad it's not me administering the list! Rich you have all my sympathies mate BUT you're doing an excellent job! Just a few more thoughts?..............i believe the list is of previously unreleased tracks that have since been legally issued on 45? This would mean Garland Green's 'Come thru me' would qualify even tho' it did get an initial release on a Kent LP BUT at the time it was unreleased from years before? (The LP is of course the 'original' release BUT that's not the point of this thread!) G C Cameron on Flamingo shouldn't qualify cos it was a new release at the time wasn't it? (simply being a UK only 45 doesn't qualify it does it?). Same should go for Bobby McClure on Island, Bobby Byrd on Contempo etc? Percy Stone shouldn't count as it was released. Barons should as it was acetate only. Marvelettes LP track shouldn't count? Duane Williams on Soul Junction is a new release isn't it and shouldn't qualify? Side Effect came out on an LP at the time and therefore shouldn't count? ...........and finally (to pi** Sean off )..............Aleshure..........(relatively) new release at the time that had already been out on CD? (going for my hard hat!) What's the jury think? What a list though! The next thread of unreleased stuff from LP/12" & CD's should be interesting So many questions??? I can see Rich's headache coming on from here............. Cheers Steve

Hi Russ I have a couple of spares matey. I'll PM ya with a price Cheers Steve
-
Thanks but a kind soul has finally come thru with one for me.........thanks all the same though
-
Quick wants plug - still looking for a 6T24 Anyone? btw Linda Jones 'Last' & Barbara Lewis 'Stars' were released on a 'proper' LP so shouldn't count, neither should Jr McCant (King 45) whereas Otis Redding was an unreleased track on a 90's CD, so that'd count wouldn't it? Gonna be a big list methinks? Cheers Steve
-
Paul put me onto it too Got a copy soon after and have played it to death ever since! Thanks for selling it him Pete otherwise we all might have missed it Cheers Steve

I think the Soul Junction label is now run by Dave Welding & John Anderson? I could be wrong but i don't believe CB are behind it? Alice Clark IS from an original LP on Mainstream so doesn't qualify! Cheers Steve
-
Wot happended to 'Syl Johnson - All I need is someone like you - Grapevine' from a few posts back?
-
...........can we put it to the vote?
-
Hi Rich Oops sorry, it's your thread, so you should be the man to do the list, not that Mooney bloke! Can i respectfully ask for Art Gentry & Sam Dees 'Run' to be taken from our 45 list??????????? It's a 12"................plus i've spent that long looking for the fookin thing, everytime i see it on our list, it's gonna make me blue Cheers Steve
-
Bob on again Poser man Think what you are trying to say is that the OVO description needs changing to OVERTURE Original Vinyl Except Records Totally Unreleased Rightfully Eligible OVERTURE is a musical word of course plus there was a track played at Wigan Casino called OVERTURE...............................................so look for the venue's with the OVERTURE Kitemark! Roger can you do us a logo? Steve G you need to amend your list mate ..................................coat got, gone Cheers Steve ps For anyone who doesn't know me.............just for the avoidance of doubt, this is me trying to be funny

Still reading Sean's novel but i agree with the above too! Would think that the 'upfront' top niter bods would still be forced to cut unreleased stuff they receive from whatever source, be it labels, artists, managers (eg The Rotations record being played by Dave Thorley, Mick H etc) onto acetates or carvers BUT nowt wrong with that - more power to them! They'll all also be digging and searching for the next big thing on original vinyl too, that's why they're the top bods! What i think folks don't want to see (unless i've read it all wrong) is these DJ's playing carvers and bootlegs of top rarities and difficult to obtain actual released vinyl? Cheers Steve
-
Well yeah I agree with that but also a CD-R or a good quality MP3 of the track would do for me too. I have NO problem playing forthcoming unreleased stuff like this and have done this for ages! Cheers Steve
-
That was yer problem mate! When we had Topica back in the day, there was only a little gang of us BUT you didn't realise that the whole world could (and eventually did) read what you said! You posted some fookin funny stuff that's for sure BUT some of the toe curling stuff did come back and bite you in the ass! I have selective amnesia on that mate as you were young and daft (well early 40's anyway!) and now just try and remember the funny stuff (along with your recommended new tuneage!) Don't water yourself down completely though, as Pete says, you need summat to look back on and be embarrassed about in 2016! Soul-Source still needs you as the anti-Christ imho Cheers Steve
-
Thanks for info Ady yes, Mirwood 2 on the shopping list need to bag it ASAP - embarrassed that I haven't got it yet cos our own Mr Connor played the Jackie Lee directly from the CD at The Orwell a while ago (are you watching from the OVO thread ) and I vowed to buy it then, then forgot....until now!!!!!!!! Cheers Steve
-
Hiya Sean Two issues here matey - yep i'd personally have no problems playing it out off CD if it was a bona-fide unreleased track OR a CD only track, like i do for loads of tracks (eg Arthur Adams - Let me love you tonight, Four Tops - Clip my wings, Five wagers - Love diet, Shirley Brown - Even if the signs were wrong, Patrick Henry - Loving you (yes even over the 45!) etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc. Doesn't matter to me mate, them's MY rules which i use for ME (others won't agree that's for sure!)...............carvers mean f**k all to me BUT I have no problem whatsoever with anyone carving one of the above (I DON'T agree with folks carving and playing out summat rare or difficult to obtain that has been released on vinyl (eg Tolbert etc) BUT that's another story!)........which leads us to the second issue, the 'top Northern bods' comment was meant in the context of pure Northern gigs where the majority don't have CD players, so the only way it can be broken as a sound is via a carver (eg Angel Risoff - Break out the tears (originally a CD only track) or say Marvin Gaye - When I feel the need (an unreleased track issued on CD) imho perfectly OK for a DJ to carve these if he/she believes they can get mileage out of it BUT is restricted cos the clubs he plays at don't have CD's). I played Angel & Marvin Gaye off CD at The Orwell NO problem with NO guilty conscience BUT someone like Flanny who plays at many of the top Northern venues had to have a carver of Angel done otherwise he wouldn't have had chance play it out on the Northern scene. Does this make sense? Hope so...........I didn't want to get dragged into this BUT you did ask Do i need to get me hard hat out???? Cheers Steve
-
You have the dubious honour of my post of the week Roger - hope you're well mate? I bet you could write a book (particualrly in the early days of forums etc) on the times you've done that kept me amused for hours some of it Cheers Steve
-
Just found this thread.................i didn't read it to start with as i thought it was just an extension of OVO thread....................but in compiling a list of unreleased tracks on 45, what a great idea! Paul Mooney looks like he's nominated as keeper of the master list..................and i think it needs updating Paul - come on pull your finger out lad! I'll add a few as memory serves but what about 'Syl Johnson - All I need is someone like you - G2K' that must count as it had only previously been issued (as an unreleased track!) on an 80's Jap LP! .....................and a question for Ady (relating to our Mirwood conversation on OVO thread)............would you know the story as to why or how Bob & Earl 'My little girl' instrumental came out only on Jay Boy?..........I'm presuming someone other than that dodgy soulfox bloke had access to Mirwood masters back in the day as this predates him by a few years? Cheers Steve
-
Hee Hee - Thank you Ady........................My post was tongue-in-cheek as you guessed but i'd forgotten the story, which you have thankfully reposted Just wanted to highlight once again what a fookin tune it is! Mirwood Soul Vol 2 it is then played directly from the CD will suit me .........................need top Northern bods to carver it and start hammering it as this definitley deserves to be a monster oldie imho......................................or maybe next years Kent Anniv 45 now THAT would guarantee a scene revival of this top tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers Steve
-
Hi Ian yes, what i was getting at was that 'if' The Belles was 'legal' could it be played out?......and if so what OVO DJ would play a pink label Soul Fox 45 in his set I think Ady/Kent got to the bottom of the legalities of this.........anyone find the original link? Either way it's a fooking brilliant Northern dancer imho and one of the top bods could make it monstrous I reckon, cos at the time I don't think it went as big as it could have done (probably cos of the Soul Fox connection?) t'other side from Jackie Lee's a belter too! Cheers Steve
-
OK chaps/chapettes got a question for you all...................I think this has been done before on SS before as a separate thread but is very relevant to this thread imho- How would a jock playing 'The Belles - Let me do it - Soul Fox' be viewed in the OVO debate? Would it qualify as say, playing a Grapevine 2000 unreleased track or carving an unreleased CD track would be? Think there was some discussion of whether it was them and I think Kent reissued it on CD by someone else? (sorry forgot the details!) 'If' Mr Soul Fox 'legally' released this via the guy who owned the Mirwood masters would the playing of this brilliant 60's Northern dancer be allowed on the pink Soul Fox label Thoughts please? Cheers Steve
