  1. Wow! Super rare indeed!!!!!!!!!!!! Never seen a US 12" only a US 45 Another thing........wasn't the UK version speeded up OR am I dreaming?
  2. I've had a 45 of this for many years (did I buy it off you Keith, can't remember?) Never seen one before or since?????????????? Must be scarce methinks, sure they must be out there though? Hope this helps Steve
  3. Yes! And a few more I'm a bit more embarrassed about.............for example a 'Botty's over Britain' badge...........not Mecca & off topic but does anyone remember that one..................Ian D??????????
  4. I only have the Naatab 45 Adam, so can't help you there! Have played it out a couple of times and think there is definitely some mileage on the 70's/Crossover scene with this great track (maybe even the Northern scene????) Both quite tough to find methinks? Cheers Steve
  5. Am I allowed to say that this was the first place I heard Funkadelic - One nation under a groove!!! Probably not first play in the UK cos I'd seen it listed in the US charts at the time ('78) and wondered what it was like.......until Mr Levine (I think) gave it a spin..............................possibly at the same all dayer as Barry Manilow but that's another story Hope this one doesn't open up a can of worms, as I'm sure it's been done to death on SS in other threads before, so maybe best to leave it be??? Cheers Steve
  6. Wow! Same here, really enjoyed it! Loved that bit with the Staples on the beach! There's summat on Sky Arts tonight at 8pm, I'm sure I heard them say that last night! Thanks again fella! Cheers Steve
  7. Hee Hee, I should have googled 'Edwin Starr/War' meself then I'm not apologising, I might sneakily remove point #5 though I was so mad by then I was questioning everything they said
  8. I've had it on a Canadian CBS (Orange label with a Maple Leaf on it!) AND CBS UK (think it's also on an LP too?)..........never heard it played out meself but it must be around the same time as the CC/DG B&S article posted earlier, cos it's listed there!! Hope this helps? Cheers Steve

  12. And just who was that masked man James?
  13. Thanks to all for the brilliant lists, especially Mel for the chronological playlists Brill thread this, have read it with real interest. This is bringing so many memories back for me from my time as a young pup in early '73 onwards. Thankfully a lot of the older lads & lasses from our way were attending The Torch, Wigan & The Mecca, so we always got a good & broad idea of what was going on across the scene at an early age! I had loads of records in me head to list but everytime i came up with a record that wasn't listed, someone came in and bagged it! Thought i was onto a winner with 'The Zoo' early on but someone listed it later on! That record made me realise the gulf that existed between Wigan & The Mecca even back then. That B & S scan of the Colin Curtis/Dave Godin article I must have read 100 times back then. Lou Edwards & Jesse Fisher being records I would never part with! By the way, from the same article, did Patsy Gallant - Get that ball, make it to the lists? Brill thread, thanks again Cheers Steve

  19. Nothing Steve? That's what I have meself and play it out on? Nothing wrong with trying to upgrade though is there? Think you're just being a bit mischeivous you little tinker Cheers Steve
  20. imho the Motown invasion show was generally excellent (except the Dave Godin pic cock up). I found it really interesting regardless of who was to blame for poor attendance etc. BUT Motown at the BBC was a fucking shambles imho. 1) Bad info - I'm sure i heard them say Gladys' version of IHITTG was Motown's biggest seller 'surely' they mixed that up with MG's version? And the wasted clip of GK in her middle of the road Buddah years instead of her brill Motown years! 2) Bad info - Frankie Valli #2 1975 with 'Can't get my eyes' - what? And wasting a clip by showing FV singing it too! 3) Wasted clips of showing clips years later of Four Tops, Jimmy Ruffin doing hits from 5 years before etc. Original footage would have been better surely? 4) Really terrible examples of dodgy Motown music clips from Lionel Ritchie, Diana Ross etc - Surely they could have found better records from these artists 5) Oops! Didn't mind the Boys 2 Men, Erikha Badu etc BUT some of the later stuff was weak imho Should we have to put up with this sub-standard rubbish that looked like it had been thrown together quickly by someone who had no idea what they were doing? Surely we deserved better than this? Rant over
  21. Hi Dave Didn't realise that Dave - thanks for the info Just fancied a TP of it for meself! Are there white demos of it around then? Cheers Steve
  22. I sent this to Eddy for him to consider playing, as one of the two tunes he plays weekly from my website www.soulmusic.co.uk as i have a couple of copies for sale. Does sound ripe for reactivation doesn't it? Cheers Steve
  23. PM me condition & price please Cheers Steve
