Alma Faye...........there 'could' be another version but I cannot place it meself at the moment BUT it is pretty remeniscent of Gloria Scott's 'That what you say' imho! Strange cos that other track being played by her from the same LP (I believed) is a rip-off of 'A case of too much love making' Eleanor Mills - Telegram.............yes there is a version on a 45 on the same label by Irene Reid. Shaun/TJ Good show fellas! Eddie Kendricks (one of me fave ever mellow ballads) & Stimulation (one of me fave ever crossover tunes) did it for me! And it's funny that eveytime I hear that brill Ollie & The Nightingales track I think of the horn riff on Ann Sexton's 'You've been gone too long'...........which came first?????? Have read this thread with interest! It is possible (now the world has shrunk and searching is easy) that artists/writers/owners etc can google themselves and find someone had released some of their product from back in the 80's to the present day (on for example a Northern Soul CD compilation). If they had received no royalities at the time I guess they must legally be able to claim this back via various mediums? Therefore, I guess that if enough artists/writers/owners etc claimed backdated royalties that a company couldn't pay back, it could hypothetically put them out of business??? Just a thought......... Hi Mike/Sean/John/Bob/Alan et al I do personally have the Black Lady issue with both sides (and the Lady copy for sale ) I think we all agree the Black Lady is the orig BUT why the name was changed we can only guess??? It is strange that everyone seemed to buy it back in the day for the 'cookin' and it was only many years later that folks realised how brilliant 'All i need' was! I think i only realised how good it was on hearing Mike Charlton make it massive in the early days of Yarmouth! The beauty of Soul music eh! Always check yer B sides!!! Cheers Steve
