  1. That's not strictly true what you've said above Nat.........oops I mean Blake Only kidding, hope you're well fella? Cheers Steve
  2. Just reviewed this little blighter in the latest edition of 'Soul Up North' Went under the radar with me too!!!!! Cheers Steve
  3. No trumpets, no bells & whistles, just a quick note to let you know that another batch of 45's have just been added to the site! As usual, there are LOADS of brilliant 45's up there (including on the Holy Grails page too!!) Cheers Steve Plumb www.soulmusic.co.uk
  4. You do Eddie, I should have mentioned that! In fact I only have a demo, so am unsure which version is on the issue of 'When a boy falls in love'? I think it may be both versions on the issue too? Anyone? Cheers Steve
  5. There's a few versions of this knocking about? btw Flanny was playing a Dutch group soul version of it at one time at The Orwell too! Covered it up as 'Gene Page & The Bracelets' the little rascal BUT we soon rumbled it! Cheers Steve
  6. Hi Kim Sorry for the delay - had a busy weekend! Chris & Girth absolutely right Killer tune and one of the great man's finest imho Cheers Steve ps Another RCA track by Willie Hutch worth seeking out is the 'RCA 45 only' cut of 'When a boy falls in love'. There's two different versions of it - It's a ballad on the LP and a crossover monster on the 45!
  7. Thanks Seb was just going to post this info as I've done it a couple of times on SS over the years! There are no illegal boots of it! One's original and the other a legal reissue from Joe himself, made about 10 years ago! Hope it helps Cheers Steve
  8. Hee Hee, yeah it's OK it's nowt serious, he doesn't owe me money..............in fact it's more like the opposite Thanks for the PM will ring him later Cheers Steve
  9. Bloody right it's fabulous isn't it
  10. I need a telephone number for a guy called Paul Mullholland from Kilgolgan, Co Galway in Ireland. I'm having trouble emailing him, so I need a phone number OR a full address? Anyone help? Please PM me Cheers Steve NOW SORTED - Many thanks
  11. Yeah I think £200 nearer the mark as this is pretty rare on original. Like you say, the boots are very similar, so some may think the originals are more common than they actually are cos they see the boot for sale and maybe mistake it for the original? Totaly fabulous record imho too Well worth resurrecting methinks? Cheers Steve p.s. It's Del Reys NOT Del Rays
  12. Hi Billy Thanks for the compliments Our friend Zane from Bonny Scotland handles the weekly downloads so I can't help you there. Why not get a free MP3 editing software like Audacity? You can easily split it up into 2 x 60 minutes shows then and burn each one to CD? If all that fails, please drop me a PM and I'll do it for you - please PM me your address. Cheers Steve
  13. Hiya John Yeah, we're all gonna be f**ked when we're all digital cos a bit of bad weather and the fookin satellite goes off! Sorry bout the typo on Mildred...........of course it's 'Keep trying' 'If i can't fly'.....................yeah the story is this - there are two different versions on Hot Wax with the same release number (#7301) BUT one has the group name down incorrectly as 'Honey Comb' and the other has the correct spelling of 'Honey Cone' The Honey Comb is definitely different to the Honey Cone version? Both are flipping fantastic dancers BUT 'Honey Comb' sounds like an earlier 'earthier' mix than the Honey Cone 'smoother early 70's' mix! And to make sure my anorak fits snuggly, the master matrix for each version is different in the run out groove! The B side is the same on both 45's (and that's a brill dancer too, very much in the 'Love Factory' bag!) Don't think there's any different in price as they are both approx £20 45's. Maybe 60's fans might prefer the Honey Comb version and 70's/Modern fans might prefer the Honey Cone version? Me, I like them both! The reason i know this is that I came across a few copies and noticed the different names and took it from there? Not sure if it's been noticed before but take it from me, it's true! See you soon John, off to dry clean me anorak now cheers Steve

  15. Hi All Thought I'd update you on my quest to find a Soul night in Madrid for the weekend just gone! Thankfully I was contacted by a couple of people (thanks guys!) who pointed me in the direction of a great club on Friday night in Madrid called the Marula Cafe which was about 10 minutes walk from our hotel! And DJing was a guy I'd met many times at Yarmouth & Bilbao - Jose Angel (Jadd) He did a superb three and a half hour set of mainly 70's and 80's Soul Steppers ALL from original vinyl too The place was so packed it was hard to find a space to dance! Tunes like Clausel, Bill, A J Brown, Lou Ragland etc etc came one after another! Great to meet a few of the Madrid Soulies too (Jadd, Alvaro, Marcos, Ester etc) I'd recommend anyone taking a break in Madrid to check out the bar as it's on weekly with Jadd doing his stuff there! For more info here's the web site of the cafe https://www.marulacafe.com/ And here's more info about Jadd : https://soul-cargo.blogspot.com/ Cheers Steve
