  1. He's conspicuous by his absence Super thread chaps, I know it's been done before BUT it's always a good 'un Cheers Steve
  2. Are you always amazed at how cheap they are Lofty?
  3. I think that's what made me part with me 85p
  4. I am so so sad inside hearing this terrible news. Condolences to Alan's family. Alan was a lovely man with brilliant taste in music and he will be sorely missed. RIP big fella Steve
  5. His 'Loving you comes easy' on Vibration is a fabulous early 70's crossover dancer - well recommended 'I agree 100% on 'Sleep won't come' Totally brilliant unreleased 70's dancer as good as 'nine times/i got the need/just having your love etc' a potentially monsterous record! Cheers Steve
  6. Just a point of order Mike, it was 85p not a quid cos I bought it at the same time from Soul Bowl and I never forget how much I pay for a record Have replaced it since with a Red/White copy but I'm now having second thoughts, especially if the multi colored one has better fidelity Cheers Steve
  7. Hi Jock The LP never came out unless there's test pressings of it (which would be nice!). Probably suffered the same as the Sandra Wright LP due to Stax' demise? From memory, that track was called summat like 'He moves me'? Brilliant midtempo, sort of Almeta Latimore ish BUT the quality of the recording weren't good and sounded muffled played out (from memory?) Cheers Steve
  8. Loving that avatar John
  9. Lead singer with the Moments.....................
  10. Hi Barry If the deal with JulianB didn't go thru, I found an Ex copy in me boxes last night whilst looking for summat else! Cheers Steve
  11. Well mine is still sat here at £25.....................maybe it's over-priced Dave Withers & Rod Shard must have had hundreds through their hands over the years I reckon!
  12. I have one for sale HERE a tad cheaper Cheers Steve
  13. If it's on the McKay playlist that gives it another seal of approval Should sound brill in the cellar Good luck tomorrow mate! Cheers Steve
  14. That's a lovely thing to say Sir See you in April if not before Cheers Steve
  15. It defo came out on Curtom though - mine's the normal 'yellow' label design
  16. There's one or two in the usual places on the net for not much dosh
  17. Hiya Binsy If Bob & Gav want me to do the 'LP only' set again at Yarmouth in April it will be the 4th year on the run! And as usual, I'll make sure that there will be no tracks played from previous years either! Pressure will be on again as at midnight folks have to dance to 'em too! Although I'll have to watch out for the Soul detective's as I got caught out last year with a couple tracks that got released on Outer Mongolian 45's that I wasn't aware of And to round it off, it will be me and you and Bully in the car park at 6.30 a.m. Cheers Steve
  18. I'm spinning there meself BUT I'll leave the Dells to you (so I can then dance to it ) Cheers Steve
  19. I have this on Curtom and they are two good versions but not as good as Dana Valery/June Conquest imho! Cheers Steve
  20. ......................and now of course the record from the 'wants' section 'The Dells - Whatever turns you on - 20th Century LP 1981 Cheers Steve
  21. Benji's right, it's way too long for the 45 and it does affect the sound when played out! Best bet is the Beverley Glenn 12" same length but dem grooves are further apart and sounds damn fine when played out! Chers Steve
  22. Oops! I really must pay more attention Mr Maleady So can we claim it as an Orwell spin Or is it a TJ spin Or is it a Biff SITS spin Who cares, it's a beast of a tune that should be massive! And what do you mean 'selling mode' you cheeky get btw Just listened to the original by Billy Ocean, as posted on SS by Roger Williams (nice one Rog!) Actually a very good track BUT the Dells is the one for me, the vocals are killer! Cheers Steve
  23. Hi Ivor Yeah it has TJ all over it! Can't believe how it's slipped the net for the rest of us though! Had the LP for years and never realised how good it was til last week!!!! The beauty of the Soul Scene eh? There's always summat new to hear Strange how it's the title of the LP yet it doesn't seem to have been released as a 45 or 12"???? Cheers Steve
  24. Hello Mr Adams Jr Looks like this record could go places as it sounded fabulous at Soul in the Sun last week after being spun 2 or 3 times by Biff Have now dug the LP out too and it sounds spot on for now! Be interesting to see if it got released other than on the LP? I think that 'German' 12" you refer to turned out to be a German seller listing the LP as a 12" on a well known internet site Anyways, I'm in the queue for a 12" or 45 after your good self Cheers Steve
  25. This subject comes up fairly regularly on Soul Source and each time new tracks get mentioned, so all power to whoever started the thread as there has been some brill stuff mentioned On a slightly different slant i've recently been playing four LP-Only Northern classics where each take is significantly different to the 45's we're used to- Alice Clark - You hit me (late 60's/early 70's version) - GWP LP Frank Dell - He broke your game wide open (late 60's/early 70's version) - Guinness LP Dee Dee Sharp - What kind of lady (with extra verse and backing vocals) - Gamble LP Sam Dees - Lonely for you baby (with count-in and femme backing vocals) - Jap LP Cheers Steve
