  1. JUST IN! The new Mike Jemison 45 from Soul Junction Records! Ace double sided dancer from 2010! Hear it HERE for the A Side 'Hold on he's coming' & HERE for the B Side 'Call on me' & buy it here www.soulmusic.co.uk Cheers Steve
  2. www.soulmusic.co.uk Just a quick note to let you know that another batch of Northern & Modern Soul 45's have just been added to the site! As always, there are LOADS of brilliant 45's this month spread ALL OVER the site! PLEASE don't think that the only new 45's are on the 'Just Arrived' page? We add 45's to ALL parts of the site ALL the time and we are constantly reviewing & tweaking prices as we strive to give the BEST value for money ANYWHERE on the internet! Spend a little time on www.soulmusic.co.uk and you never know what you'll come out with! Cheers Steve Plumb 25th April 2010 www.soulmusic.co.uk
  3. That happened to me in the early days of ebay too Pete! Must have been 600+ US Soul 45's 'cept these came from the US so I paid massive postage fees and to top it all i had monster customs/vat charges on it from the PO Every single one was fooked, hundreds and hundreds of the little bastards! Could not keep or sell a single one of them! Cheers Steve
  4. Thanks for the reply Pete. I was right then, 'proper' Reggae fans (of which I am not one) do think it's pants for the reasons you outlined above and i do understand and agree with all you said However, us 'non-Reggae connossieurs' are judging the record from a Soul Scene perspective and in this case, when this record is played in a Soul room, it does have a certain charm (imho). It's obviously NOT a good Reggae record and it isn't and can't be described as a good Soul record either BUT hey, that's the wierdness of the Soul scene in all it's glory And for the avoidance of doubt, I don't like all the Reggae records that crossover to the dark side! Glenn Miller 'Where is the love' to me is AWESOME whilst I fookin hate the Pioneers 'Good friend James' but that's just me! Cheers Steve
  5. I must admit to liking this a lot and for my shame I'm not a big Reggae fan, sorry I imagine as a Reggae record, connossieurs will think it's pants but the Soul content in his vocal and those 'Crossover style' horns driving it along make it acceptable for the Soul scene imho I've played this out a few times at venues and on't radio. Always goes down well! I first heard it (on the Soul Scene) played by Niki & Nelly on Solar a while back! It's the future 'Crossover Reggae' I'll not put me hard hat on for Mr Smith's reply Cheers Steve
  6. That's why we still love it after all these years Kev! Always summat new to hear! Doesn't matter how old a record is, if it's the first time you've heard it, it's still a new record I've gotta say when I was typing up the first post, I seriously thought I'd be in for an absolute verbal bashing for being so presumptuos BUT there's not been one negative comment (so far) which means the song is speaking for itself Cheers Steve
  7. Wait til you get to 50+ John it will certainly grow on you As it happens, i found the same Capitol info BUT Tony has a different take on it. I'm sure he'll be on tomorrow with the proper story. I bet the Ace/Kent boys have got some of those unissued tracks mentioned in ITB too! Thanks to everyone for the fabulous feedback Cheers Steve
  8. Struggling to upload to refosoul so here's a 2 minute clip i've bunged on me website SPENCER WIGGINS - I'M AT THE BREAKING POINT Please feel free to leave feedback! Cheers Steve
  9. Top marks Ady for spinning it THREE times - Top man On the PR/Kent side of things, I think it was just luck that got Spencer Wiggins to me on this occasion as I'm sure there's a few folks who were worthy of it before meself BUT it did come to me and therefore I am grateful to Mr Rounce for the opportunity to tell the world how good it is! After the weekend and all the hype, I STILL stand by everything I said in post #1 and am currently nearing the 50 spins mark at home! I don't often go overboard on something unless it REALLY is special and this REALLY is a special record Cheers Steve ps I know someone posted a link above to yesterdays Soul People Solar Radio show (It's about 75 minutes into the 2 hour show) BUT Tony has sanctioned a clip to be posted in refosoul which i will attempt to do this afternoon.
  10. I'm out of commission today, so just a quickie! Will post a clip of Spencer Wiggins into refosoul tomorrow, so those who didnae hear can hear it and those that heard it can hear it again! Cheers Steve ps Brett, that Sandra Wright quote will haunt you forever
  11. Can't wait to hear this too! Hope it goes down a storm Ady? Cheers Steve
  12. Scheduled at 11.15am matey The one after is a beast of a track too WILL surprise a few methinks? On the LP-Only set - I always like to throw a ringer in to keep you on yer toes! Will be anxiously looking for your feedback on this track Bulmeister Cheers Steve

  14. Go for it Ady Everyone at Th'undred Club will definitely be in for a treat! Cheers Steve
  15. You're usually the master of disguise when anyone plays you a tune, from years of protecting your wallet by saying 'It's OK' whilst inside thinking 'F*ck me this is brilliant' BUT last night I could see those little beads of sweat on your brow and your increased breathing and then finally, when yer glasses fell off and you let out the shout 'Steve Connor will f*cking love this' I knew I had you!
  16. Great track - Good luck with this fellas Flanny was the first person I heard playing this. He played it at the Orwell many moons ago and me, Baz & Steve Connor all went and bought it on Vol 4 the day after! It got many a hammering after that. Think the boys at Soul in the Sun got onto it too! Cracking little dancer! btw The LP has another version of Fantastic Four's 'Live up to what she thinks' (by Funkadelic I think?) It's surprisingly good too, although not in same league as FF orig! Cheers Steve
  17. I've a spare BUT it's only VG+ and has pops throughout. It's signed too! Got it from the bay a while ago and was disappointed at condition. Love the version of TPM on the LP too
  18. Hi Mark Set at 'classic crossover' pace with that tricky 'horn/stab' chugging rhythm that we all know and love! Will slay the 70's/Crossover rooms but I think it will be too slow for Northern Rooms/All Nighters and probably too old sounding for Nu Soul/Modern Rooms! Be nice if it did get a chance in them though Cheers Steve
  19. The record has 'Kirsty' written all over it! You're gonna love it mate! Didn't realise my teeth weren't as white as yours - must check next time we meet! At least two out of three ain't bad (Only joking, well I'm taller anyway!) Cheers Steve
  20. Glad you agree Sean Plus, both them 'Willie' tracks you played are indeed incredible and sounded brilliant at Essence. I'm looking forward to the 'Sounds of Memphis' and 'Fame' CD's in May & June Cheers Steve
  21. Never posted before in refosoul but will defo have a do when i've time to do it and TR gives it the thumbs up to do so? Cheers Steve
