Auctions Changing The Dynamic Of Collecting?
Steve Plumb replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
And just to balance out the fact that not all John's auction go for daft money.............I put summat up with him the other month and it went for a quarter of what i was expecting..................so bargains are still around, even on JM's auctions! -
Auctions Changing The Dynamic Of Collecting?
Steve Plumb replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
I saw the auction end and the record was also on my site at £50 So i left it and it sold the next day (it'd been on about a week prior to the auction) The next question to tackle is this...........yeah i kept me crediblity and didn't hike the price cos of the auction BUT what if the guy who bought it off me hikes it and sells it for say £200 (not saying he did, just using this an a possible scenario) Do i feel good for keeping my credibility or stupid cos i let it go to someone who i know will triple the price? Fidels is a fookin great record by the way (imho) -

Just to clarify that the Blue/White lookalike copies on my site https://www.soulmusic.co.uk/New_Stuff.htm (about 10 45's down the page) are of course represses. The guy I bought them off got them directly from A J Brown whilst on a visit to Jamaica about 4 years ago, so they are not boots, they are represses from Jamaica by A J Brown himself. Most of these copies had a slight warp to them and it was only recently that the guy found some flat ones back in his store and sent them to me (I have three left by the way!) The dark purple text copies came into the UK in the late 80's and were sold by dealers like Voices etc as second issues. I always presumed these were legal too but cannot be 100% certain on this? These were the two reissues i was aware of but i have heard A J Brown has pressed other batches up over the years so there could easily be more variations around. So if it don't look like Chalky's scan with the vinyl description that goes with it, then it's more than likely a reissue? Hope this helps Cheers Steve
