  3. No, there are two 70's issues with identical matrix numbers/same mix, one with 'arranger' and one without! We now don't know which came first? Brett has a 70's with arranger and i (and others) have 70's without arranger. The later 90's reissues (or originals in Elijah's eyes ) have different matrix numbers although they are the same mix? Got to go down as THE most confusing debate ever on SS
  4. Hi Bob Yeah, as Chalky said above, it's 'chicken or the egg' now on the two 70's variations? As i said in an earlier post on this thread, i originally kept the 'non arranger' 70's copy cos it was different to the 90's repress. I thought at the time it was the second press (from info in JM #5) but that does not seem to be the case now? Cheers Steve
  5. Well that would be Brett's copy he mentioned above? (arranger, EC 5709, upside down BA etc) Mine is the same as above (no arranger, EC 5709, upside down BA etc) So they are the same plates, thus same mix I got to say, i always assumed JM's Book 5 was correct and always thought my 'no arranger' was the second issue. Happy to be proved wrong though
  6. Looks like i need to read the Cole interview Chalky, never actually read it? I was only going from what was in me head last night and it was a bit late
  7. Well i can send you an mp3 of the 2nd orig Bob (no 'arranger' under the title) And if someone who has the first one can do the same, we should be able to sort it once and for all?
  8. Twisted logic but i kept the second Rock-Way 70's press over the first press cos it looks different to the first press and they also used the first press as the design for all the 90's and beyond presses, so the second press is unique
  9. Hi Bob Off the top of me head, I thought the first two proper original Rock-Way releases from the 70's had the same mix? I also thought all the other lookalike releases from the 90's were the same mix? I thought the wierd violins mix was on a brown Rock-Way label from the 90's? I only have one of the two orig presses so can't check for sure but i did think they were the same? Cheers Steve
  10. Hi Kev I think you may have answered it yourself, as the date of the mastering on the reissue is 26/08/1976 and the 12" is 19/08/1976 whilst the original is dated a full year before at 27/08/1975. So, as you met him in 1975, it's likely it was the original 45's he gave to you? Many thanks Steve
  11. Great info Kev One question for you, where the copies you originally brought to the UK, the olive green originals OR had Morty Craft already remixed it and repromoted it by then, thus giving you the dark green copies? Did he have the 12" at the time too, as it looks like this was done from the second issues? Sorry to ask such detailed questions about stuff from nearly 40 years ago but you know what we are all like? Cheers Steve
  12. Good question! I don't have the UK version to hand unfortunately but i'm sure others will? The UK copies that are on discogs say the UK 45 times are 3:03 & 4:56 but i couldn't see the times actually on the label, just in the listing. If this is right, this would mean they are the same versions as the reissue?
  13. Possibly mine at £20? Was in great nick but someone bought it today? Cheers Steve
  14. Yes, i forgot to mention that too, nice one
  15. Here's what i believe to be details of the variations of Jobell & the Orchestra de Salsa- The olive green 45 is the original with 'arranger Louis Ramirez' written on the label from 1975 ('75 date scratched in run out) The two darker green variations from 1976 ('76 dates scratched in run out) do not have 'arranger Louis Ramirez' on the label The more common darker green second issue has 'Yukon Music' on the label but the other variation does not have 'Yukon Music' on the label (neither does the olive green original) The 12" I suspect came after the olive green original 45 as that's from 1976 as i think it's the same length as the second issue 'disco side' (and possibly the same mix?) The times of the two original olive green sides are different to the two second issue sides AND are a slightly different mixes too! The UK Pye 45 came out in 1977 If anyone wants to add owt else or if you think i may have got summat wrong, please let me know? Cheers Steve

  21. I have it like this too on a 'Ten Star' issue Definitely a crossed out 'A' Must be the same master plate on both sides as the Monarch Delta #59890 is the same on both sides with the same spacing between matrix etc Same track on both sides, although i wouldn't have guessed that this it is really a 'part 2'? Hope this helps Cheers Steve
