  1. Hi Russ I have a spare if you get no joy elsewhere. Cheers Steve ps I also have one spare copy of the other unreleased demo from Percy Stone G2K 45-132 (which actually isn't included in JM's new UK book!)
  2. Yep, massive thanks from me too! Being in the internet biz meself, you don't know how impressed i am to constantly keep seeing SS threads etc being found on Google. Keep up the good work Steve
  3. This is excellent Pete, thanks for posting it Steve
  4. Didn't realise this thread was still going........................... Nick Allen a BEAST of a 12" and one that surely will go huge (one day) Very similar in feel and tempo to 'So many sides of you' (and before you reply Gav, no the vox aint as good as BW but whose is????) Cheers Steve
  5. I'd be willing to go to six quid..........at a push
  6. ....................to me I have also seen another one since in a box at The Orwell a few months ago (Soul Sam's i think?) Cheers Steve
  7. How could the RAC help you Gav? I've got an AA handbook if you want to borrow that Coat duly got.................................
  8. All Got a US Jubilee white demo of this for sale. PM me if anyone's interested in it Cheers Steve
  9. Simon/Robin My apologies, just re-read my posting and it is incorrect! I meant to say, it was extremely popular at Thorne in the late 80's rather than first played. You're right as i think i bought a copy meself in the early 80's from SB! Sorry for the confusion. Cheers Steve
  10. Last few waiting to go! If you're one of the 120 who've downloaded it from here and fancy the vinyl, gimme a shout, quickly! Cheers Steve
  11. On the 'name in the run out groove' thing, that's only something i personally did up to about 1976/7.........i think it was something everyone did back then? Thanks god i didn't go for that other fad back then and put my initials on the label. Bet there's loads of people wished they hadn't done that back in the day! Anybody do owt wierd to their 45's that they wished they hadn't done? Cheers Steve
  12. Wow! I sold that 45 a couple of years ago when i found an original that i forgot i had in me loft!!!!!! There was no burn on it when i sold it so you can't have a refund Cheers Steve ps Any input on the Tempos yellow vinyl post anyone????
  13. I have a vinyl yellow issue of Tempos. JM's booty book doesn't mention a yellow boot? It only mentions the mauve and light blue boots. JM also doesn't mention an orig on yellow vinyl either (only the yellow styrene west coast orig) The details of mine are- It is virtually identical to the original description (also in the booty book) of the younghearts 'togetherness' Canterbury yellow vinyl orig copy. It has 66c-504a scratched into the run out groove in a 'childlike' writing that can be felt with the fingers. There is also a ridge about 1/3 of the way in from the centre. Can anyone confirm whether this copy of Tempos yellow label on vinyl is orig or a boot? For info - the 'real' yellow rare one that JM talks about is the styrene one with the delta number 6xxxx (not sure of the number) - had it once and foolishly sold it to Flanny (wish i'd kept it) CheersSteve Plumb
  14. Nice one Tony You're right about GS, SON & The Big O (sorry, couldn't resist that one!)...................all love to play older known/semi-known cheaper sides along with the rarities! btw Ernie was originally played at Thorne in the late 80's but has been coming up on the rails over the last few years. I've done a little piece for the December edition of 'On The Scene' about 45's such as this and in actual fact Ernie is amongst the 45's mentioned! Take care and have a good on Saturday! Cheers Steve
  15. Have read most of this thread, I virtually agree with ALL the pros AND cons of doing it.................but Chalky sums it up with the sentence above! (i.e. Cover ups always have been and probably always will be part of this scene) I tend to cover up stuff as a bit of fun (as well as all those other pros & cons to the practice) & to keep the lads i promote The Orwell with, guessing I think it also says that you're at least trying to find something new and there's nowt like a well thought up name to catch the imagination! I also realise that others think you're a complete knob for doing it A little story that sums up some of the pros & cons of the practice is ............When i listed 'Flashlight' as 'Brothers Guiding Light' in a Yarmouth program playlist I had loads and loads of people asking about it cos of the BGL name. Apart from it being a great 70's dancer, it also turned out to be quite easy to get (It might also be because i told people who it was when i was pi**ed at the same Yarmouth!). A few 'key' DJ's then picked up on it and lo and behold it got a UK release some months later under it's real name. I bet the writers, artists, producers, label owners etc couldn't have given a flying f**k about being called summat else for a while! Same goes for Little Major Williams! If he is still around and if he ever gets a legal reissue of the tune or even performs it in the UK, he won't care whether he'd been called Eric Lomax for a while! Finally, I'm currently playing a lovely 70's dancer, supposedly by 'The Essex IV' for all the above reasons I've played it a few times at The Orwell and it seems to go down well. All i need to do now is get pi**ed and tell someone about it I'll go and get me hard hat! Cheers Steve Plumb
  16. Still want this people! Come on, someone must have it tucked away gathering dust Cheers Steve ps I suppose a 'Young Girls' on Stang would also be out of the question
  17. Hi Jock I did put the full track up in rm form.................I took it down when i got 34 vistors to the page and 34 downloads with no sales. For a brief moment i thought everyone was just going to download it and not buy (which wouldn't have been fair to Sonya & the Spirit gang)..........however my faith in us vinyl addicts has been restored as sales have started coming in thick and fast (in fact i'm nearly out of them!) so i'll put the download back onto the original post in a minute or so Cheers Steve ps it is the same Spirit label as Debbie Dobbins tracks ala Stafford spins!
  18. Thanks for that - i do beleive it will get the odd spin now it's on a 45! Cheers Steve
  19. I think i have one at home. Will let you know tomorrow. Cheers Steve
