  1. That's already organised....................in October The 'under £20' night may happen before that Glad you've finally changed yer signature Gav BTW Thanks to you Shazz, Roberto & Susie for a wonderful weekend Cheers Steve
  2. Unfortunately the cats out the bag on that one Sean - thanks to you It was the only record i played twice at Yarmouth......sounded fab too (even if i say it meself) Cheers Steve
  3. It is a private press the NCS label are the initials of the guy who wrote and produced it all.........but as i haven't any brain cells left since Yarmouth, i'm buggered if i can remember his name. I know it sounds daft but it could be that the signatures are part of the artwork? I'll scan the fold out in over the next few days and see if it matches everyone elses copy? I'll let you know his name too! Cheers Steve
  4. Completely agree with Paul, Rich Baz etc We always make a point of playing the odd under-played 'easy to get' 45 at The Orwell. Southside Movement is one, Street People on Vigor, Major Harris on Atlantic, Eddie Holman B side on Salsoul.......there's blinking loads of them! An idea that we are planning in the future at The Orwell is to have a night where no DJ plays anything more than say, a £20 tune! The pressure to play rare tunage will be off and i can bet that the quality will be high and then some! Look out for a night like this at The Orwell in the near future. Any one find that idea attractive and more importantly, would you attend a night like that? Be nice to hear everyone's thoughts on this? Cheers Steve
  5. Yes, I agree, it is an excellent Soul LP made all the better cos it is genuinely rare Gonna carry on hammering 'Rose' for the moment i reckon Cheers Steve
  6. I'm afraid it was me who played it at Yarmouth on Saturday evening. I bought the LP recently for 'Man' but liked the sound of this, so i chose to play 'Rose' instead. Played it at The Orwell the week before too! Don't know if it's ever been played out before but i liked it and thought it deserved a spin. All the other info i think has been forwarded i.e. West Coast 'Topics', NCS label, LP only etc Hope this helps Steve P
  7. Just thought i'd let everyone know who's coming to Yarmouth that i have at least 10 boxes of LP's for sale which will on show for the first time! From a collection of someone with immense taste in Soul, the quality is impeccable. There's no 'mega rarities' i.e. Pulse etc but tons of stuff like Solid Solution, Prince Philip Mitchell, Ronn Matlock, Zingara, Sam Dees etc etc etc etc Come and have a delve! The £1 US 45's box is also being prepared for a long overdue return too See y'all tomorrow Steve
  8. Spot on Jordi (from his post before Roger) & Spot on Roger imho you both hit the nail right on the head with your observations Cheers Steve
  9. pretty rare (and excellent too imho) - you need the issues as i haven't seen a demo with this side? say, £100-£125 at a guess? Cheers Steve

  15. ey up Mark, you didn't bite like Roger did, you must OF counted to 10 well, one out of two ain't bad i see you still managed to get a plug in tho' Cheers Steve
  16. reeled one in i knew you wouldn't be able to help yourself
  17. Mark & Rog (from your posting a bit further down) jeez, leave the poor bloke alone! you and rog only need to hear the whiff of his name linked to a tune from the last 10 years and the knives come out (albeit mixed with smilies and winks so we know you don't mean it really ) We all know you both turn new tunes up all the time, that's a given! Lighten up, this isn't EMS you know, people respect Sam round these parts ps this is meant to read as light hearted so don't you two go off on one (although i'll bet you do) Steve Plumb
  18. Yeah you're right Sean, it does (hee hee) The £1 box is sadly no more as inflation has pushed it up to 6 for £20 but it'll be out in force again next week. Don't forget your tunes this time Cheers Steve
  19. Oh aye, on a different level, the night the BANDIT struck was a truly awesome sight ...........and what's with the blatant plug for AA el bandido???? ...........love yer 'Ricks Picks' by the way, nearly on a par with me £1 box Cheers Steve
  20. Yep, me too! White or not, of all the versions this is still the one (imho)
  21. The Mono side side sounds different too, especially on the intro! Hope this helps Steve
  22. Hear hear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This reminds me of a Yarmouth story involving Sean Hampsey (who's posted to this thread - Hi Sean!) Sean came to Yarmouth once thinking he wasn't DJing and subsequently had no tunes with him - Cosser tells him he's on at 10pm so Sean panicks and comes to visit me and my infamous £1 US 45's box, which he proceeded to pull out virtually a full sets worth and played them all in his set....................and it was brill! Syl Johnson - We did it, springs to mind as one particular highlight! Cheers Steve Plumb
