  1. Hi Jords As owner of the paultry 12" (finally!) i have to say i love the extra bits in the song and imho doesn't have that much repetition and the guitar solo is pretty dinky and doesn't detract when it's played out. Mind you if i had the purple 45 i'd probably be saying what you're saying Great track either way mate and one i first heard played at The Orwell by this Catalonian with fabulous taste Cheers Steve
  2. Mark B/Steve G Do you mind - I believe Adey was talking to me Adey Please ignore those two - what do they know (hee hee only joking) Would be VERY happy to oblige (on both tracks of course ) Cheers Steve Plumb
  3. "Come on home to me" & "I was right" - B sides of "I got what you need" & "Mainstring" respectively................opened my eyes to what real soul was all about in the mid 70's! The above 4 are all desert island discs for me! Love almost anything by the man - he's a legend! btw I have an unreleased acetate thingy on tape by him called 'Is it so hard to know' (or something like that) - fantastic 70's dancer played by Adey Croasdale on Richard's show years ago - did this ever see the light of day (i don't think it did) - this would be so right for the scene today methinks???? Adey - if you're reading this please could you let me know the story on this acetate? Cheers Steve
  4. Heaven forbid Just the adverts eh I'll PM you right away Take care Steve
  5. Oops - this should have been a PM - sorry!
  6. Hiya Sunday's is a bad time for me too. Just got round to recording it onto dvd from Sky, then i have to rip the audio out which is time consuming. Any mp3's of the show on cd-r would be great. I have a few other podcasts from other shows i can send you if you wish? PLMK Steve Plumb
  7. Just had to say what a fantastic show Mark did last night on Solar Radio (8pm-10pm) Two hours of fantastic quality 60's Soul just absolutely flew by From the opening strains of the Scientists of Soul to the closing bars of the Commands the quality was exceptional. £15 cheapies rubbed shoulders with massive rarities but the accent was certainly on quality over rarity - well done mate Now if only Solar would do a podcast, i'd never miss it ever again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers Steve
  8. Aye Flanny has the orig 45 so he shared it with us all To think i knocked it back from Keb Darge in about 1997 for £400 (which was a lot in them days but now a mere pittance!) Cheers Steve
  9. I don't think this has ever been a tenner for 20 years! Not dead rare but ALWAYS sells for £25+ and probably always will. Never in the sales box for more than a week when it's marked up at £25! Fantastic record that has been played for years and years but has never gone massive. There's a good version by the Chi-Lites too! Off the top of me head i'm not sure which is the original version either. Hope this helps Steve
  10. Hi Poserman JH isn't in the sales box anymore. I virtually had to pay someone to take it off my hands it'd been in there that long I did reply to this originally but it got lost in the crash. Great tune, not that well known. Got the LP on Oracle for sale but it don't have that track on it Cheers Steve
  11. £75 in excellent shape i reckon?
  12. Hi There Got all three of these (US originals - Ex) - please pm me with yer best offer I also have an Ex Jap copy of Willie & Mighty mags PLUS Willie & West (on one LP) on PVine for £40 Cheers Steve
  13. Hello Rod Hope you're well mate? I have a spare Melvin Davis demo if you want to pm me we can sort summat out? Cheers Steve
  14. Yeah, i've always liked this too! Hard one to sell as most people dismiss it for some unknown reason? Cheers Steve
  15. It don't list for much but i think you're right, there's not many around. Good point about pat & blenders Cheers Steve
  16. Sounds interesting? When can we have a sound file so we can make our own minds up whether to buy it or not Cheers Steve
  17. Ey up Steve There may not be a massive collectors scene anymore but judging by this thread there's loads of us who still love it!!!!!!!!!! Looks like we need to make the Ground Floor at The Orwell all dayers into a Deep room (ala Yarmouth) no dancefloor, just DJ's playng brill Deep, Sweet & Southern Soul all day? How about that then - three rooms - Deep, Orwell tunes & Northern....................how good would that be?????????? btw Just dug a great 45 out of the records i was on about. A woman with a FANTASTIC voice on a green label (that's all i can remember for the moment) - will report back later but i think i need to keep it Cheers Steve
  18. Some brill stuff there Del Boy Flanny's been hammering that John Stanberry at The Orwell but to no avail as yet. Strange but in me quest to find some semi known bits i chanced upon Sir Henry Ivy and have stuck it in the play box BUT imho it needs playing on minus 2 (maybe even more than that). Pegged down a bit it sounds like it is more suitable for today's scene (or am i just an old fart who can't dance fast anymore - don't answer that!!!!!!!) Another 'un that's in the play box (from the early Modern days) is Geater - Breath taking girl - House of Orange BUT this rascal is on minus 4 at least, as it's about 160 miles an hour at normal speed. Sounds wicked like this - i reckon the Northern scene could possbily take both these on board too! Cheers Steve
  19. Everyone has their opinion and it's been on SS loads of times but i personally think we'll all still be at it in 10 years time, easily! Time will tell i guess
  20. That's sort of what i was trying to say too Del Boy - priorities and all that! Yeah BB, file it next to Eddie Parker on Mica eh? Cheers Steve ps This thread might benefit from being moved into 'All about the Soul' ?
  21. Some great replies there guys - many thanks I've also had a load of pm's on this too - i'll reply to these pm's seperately today. I spoke to Rod Dearlove about this and he too said the same as you guys, so i suspected that would be the outcome. Forget the fact that i've got stuff for sale, this is really sad for the scene as a whole I personally adore (and i mean adore) Deep Soul BUT find it hard to heavily collect pure Deep 45's cos i'm always spending me dosh on Northern & Modern 45's. I don't collect Funk either so any Deep 45's with Funk on the other side get sold on too! Now Northern & Modern 45's with killer Deep on the other side i can live with Guess many others are in the same boat? Let's hope we're many many many years away from this implosion happening with Northern & Modern scene's What's the state of the Funk scene at the moment? Any thoughts on this anyone? Cheers Steve
  22. Peeps I've recently stumbled across a few brilliant (and rare) US Deep Soul 45's. In the opinion of Soul Source forumees....where is considered to be the best place to offer these 45's for sale? I'll probably eBay them a few at a time if folk think that's the best place but i thought i'd check first. Got some killer rarities and there's also a lot of quality Sweet/Group Soul and some Funk bits in there too! It could be that i offer them on here first before sticking them on the 'bay. Be interesting to see what people think is the best way forward? Cheers Steve btw I won't be doing a list but I'd accept wants lists though
  23. Got an Avis - pm me if you still need it Steve
  24. I think that's about right too (seen it for more recently tho) I have a spare too at £30 if anyone else needs a copy pm me etc Steve
  25. I remember Ian Levine playing this at the Ritz in '76 Have not heard or seen it before or since - didn't realise it was an acetate? Not sure if it will have stood the test of time though - anyone with a soundfile????? Cheers Steve
