  1. Mr Bicknell We haven't told anyone yet about the two room mini all nighter at The Orwell on Friday 25th August, seems like a good place to break the news though Orwell tunes in one room and Quality Northern in t'other. Expecting to hear loads of those gems you've been spinning on Sunday nights down there..............currently contracts signed in blood by your good self, Neil Jones, Soul Sam and some geyser called Butch (Orwell room only) plus the residents Flanny, Barry Maleady, Steve Connor & meself. Should be a goodie Also i can't wait for the 2nd July to get a chance to play a few tunes in the shack Cheers Steve Plumb
  2. Anyone with a view on this or at least the story on how the faulty ones were found? I seem to think Rod Shard had summat to do with finding a few of these and they were all the same. Only ever had two of these and they both came from this same find (i believe?) C'mon Rod please enlighten us - i'd be keen to know if any clean double sided copies exist or if any white demos exist too? Cheers Steve
  3. My KC doesn't hiss either! I'd suggest the B side (I'm a lonely girl) of Dorothy Moore on ABC. ALL issue copies play with terrible sound reproduction (never seen a demo)......the best mid 60's Northern side NEVER played. T'other side (Believe it or not) plays great and is also brill Northern imho. Cheers Steve
  4. Looking forward to this Hope you've got some tinnies in the shack's fridge Mark Cheers Steve
  5. Same deal as Bernard Williams - the reissues are from circa '74 (don't think they're boots) are plain orange but do look and sound great Hope this helps Steve

  7. --> QUOTE(mark.b @ Jun 2 2006, 03:47 PM) link were you waiting outside for me to buy it or was i outside waiting for you you have to have shopped at spin inn to understand the question. mark Hee hee I bet there are loads on here who bought from Spin Inn and know exactly what you mean Cheers Steve
  8. --> QUOTE(mark.b @ Jun 2 2006, 10:00 AM) link probably was a mecca or ritz thing, bought this as new release from spin inn m/c mark Yep and me! Little Beaver was a Ritz/Mecca spin and i was only playing it at home the other week thinking it'd go down well nowadays. Another of those great ten pound sounds Cheers Steve
  9. Just a quick update - just checked with Chris Anderton and he said it flew out at £70 and tells me they normally do! Sorry for going on about it but i'm just qualifying my original post so no one thinks i was just making it up as i went along Either way, it's a great LP Cheers Steve
  10. It was a £40 LP in the 80's! I think it would be a lucky person who bagged a copy in excellent shape for £50! I saw it on a list yesterday for £70 (and i thought that was cheap!) Cheers Steve
  11. Got a bit more info on the Tom Moulton mix - it's only available on CD single - no plans for vinyl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Should be in your local HMV as we speak :-) Cheers Steve

  13. On the Gateway record, i reckon it's a very similar melody but obviously much faster - might dig it out and play it on 33rpm to see if it's the same. On Paul Weller - did World Column (or the writers) not get credited? I always assumed they were - don't have the PW song so can't check. Cheers Steve ...........another one for you Heartbreak avenue - can't remember who it was by now (Maisonettes or something like that) - very similar to the unissued Motown thing by Earl Van Dyke called 'On the avenue'
  14. Yep, got one of those for sale Please PM me (it's not cheap though!) Cheers Steve
  15. Went down well at th'Orwell on Sunday Not sure the vocal TM remix is on that 12" Sean - i heard that it's only the instrumental version - we need to check with the powers that be? 9 minutes long including an ace 'Benson type guitar solo' and 'Montana vibes solo' (only played the first three and a half minutes at The Orwell tho') 70's masterpiece btw I heard there's an even better mix of it on it's way soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is going to be the most remixed record in history if it carries on like this Cheers Steve
  16. If you listen to the sax break on this you'll see that imho George Michael nicked it for the sax break in 'Careless whisper'
  17. I'd actually go for the one on the other thread meself 'Without you here' on Curtom. Desert Island disc for me. Although as we all know, there a guzzilion others of his that are just fantastic! Cheers Steve

  19. Oops must have missed it in the thread! Off the top of me head i don't have any info on Richard C although i think i have another record by him.
