OK Tempests back to normal speed, suitably chastised Yeah, been caught by the tweaking DJ before and it's sod's law that you play an already fast record on a +4 setting so at least one dancer has a thrombo before the end of the record Oh and what about the c**t punter who goes round switching the 1210's off when your back is turned.........that's a fu**king hoot that one Cheers Steve

Soul Shack Still Standing - News Of Future Guests Etc
Steve Plumb replied to Mark Bicknell's topic in All About the SOUL
Hi Mark Someone at Solar hit the rewind button yesterday Hey but where are you ever going to hear 12 records by Jimmy Burns eh 'I tried' twice in 2 hours - splendid, just coming down from that!!!!!!!!! A quality hour Mr Bicknell and now looking forward to Mr Maleady with your good self next Sunday. By the way everyone, The Orwell's Northern Room on Friday 25th August will be a Soul Shack Survival Special........................watch this space for more info. Looks like all the upcoming nights and the donations will allow the old shack to get a coat of creasote (is that how you spell it?) and thus survive the winter and keep our Sunday nights TV free Cheers Steve Plumb -
Hi B & N Yep, twas a goodie on Friday at The Orwell - Mr Whitmore played some mighty fine tunes and Soul Sam and the gang pitched in. Decent turn out despite the weather & the holiday season with travellers from London, West Mids & Gods own country (your words not mine!) Yorkshire!!!!!!!!!!!! Said tune is 'Kings of Soul' so work it out from there Cheers Lancashire Lad Steve Plumb ps Have also seen 'Love stormy weather' and 'I just can't speak' tweaked up

Currently going with Geater - Breath taking girl -2 Sir Henry Ivy - He left you standing there -1 Tempests - Someday - 0.5 (well it is an LP therefore don't need much) Metros - Time changes things +2 (thanks to Neil Jones for that little tip!) plus countless others that whatever the purists say (imho) sound great in a club tweaked up or down a touch. I regularly see many top jocks tweaking up and down I know one DJ who has a monster crossover record that he plays at normal speed in Northern rooms and at -2 in Crossover rooms!!!!!!!! Cheers Steve

Pretty rare that! £25-£40 Hope this helps Cheers Steve

Soul Shack Still Standing - News Of Future Guests Etc
Steve Plumb replied to Mark Bicknell's topic in All About the SOUL
Yep, it's no secret that me and the other 3 Orwellians (Baz Maleady, Flanny & Steve Connor) are having a chin wag at tomorrow's Orwell about how we can theme the Northern Room at the mini niter on bank holiday weekend Friday 25th Aug. When we've done, we'll run the ideas past young Mr B and see where we can go from there The Shack is obviously precious to a lot of like minded Souls and we must do all we can to ensure it doesn't get blown away the next time a strong wind comes along! With the do's in London and oop north, the donations & sales of past shows.........Mark, do you now realise that there are quite a few people out there who like what you do! Cheers Steve Plumb -
Need Some Ideas - What To Do About A Problem
Steve Plumb replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
Sounds good to me that Pete. One thing though, to me ordering by email if infinitely easier then phoning for a record (how many of us have memories of trying to contact Soul Bowl for an hour only to find it'd gone when you finally got thru!). However, ordering by email means that the dealer has to have a certain etiquette. The most important thing to me when ordering records by email is that the seller honors the first person who contacts them whether it be by email, snail mail or phone. And that's an etiquette you definitely have Keep up the good work mate and keep them tunes flowing Cheers Steve -
I guess Sammy boy will be playing this tomorrow at The Orwell so you can hear it in all it's glory on one of the UK's best ever sound system's Cheers Steve
-
I took a chance a couple of years ago and bought it virtually blind from a guy on ebay from South America of all places. Think it was $150 It is a tough one cos the guys i've told about it have been searching for it since and haven't turned it up yet!!!! I guess now more people know about it, someone will find it out there in the big bad world! Essex IV indeed Cheers Steve
-
Hiya Sweetheart I know it weren't a swipe mate........................and as for Quiz meister - i still have fond memories of me and you trying to do a 'guess the intro' at Yarmouth on 'Lew Kirton' - we must have sounded like two cats in a bag, as no one got it ........................23 years for a cover up - now i think you owe it to your public to come clean on that one on Saturday night and uncover it for once and for all By the way, good luck on Saturday Cheers Steve
-
.....it's not there now! Another legendary slip up by me then..................that one off test pressing 'gangster boy' thingy that Jordi plays came out of there a few years ago too Cheers Steve
-
Hi Poser Man 'Ray & Dave' mate (Wrong wrong wrong ) See my last reply Think this is one of the last remaining c/u's we've bin playing at Th'Orwell that we haven't uncovered - all ends up being revealed in the end as it's only a bit of fun (let's not get into the c/u debate again everyone, please!) Flanny still has that 'Pioneers' c/u but it's a pile of pants anyway Take care Steve

Waaahaayyyyyyy Well done Seb 'Baby you got it all' is the said track - The first 45 by Street People before their Vigor stuff BOTH sides are written by Ray Dahrouge........in fact you can almost sing 'I can see him making love to you baby' to the other side 'I wanna get over' 'Baby you got it all' is only on the issue copy as the white demo's are double sided mono/stereo copies of 'I wanna get over' Some got close, others were miles away but Seb nailed it! btw It's a fabulous strings n things 70's dancer and can also be found on the first ever Spring CD put out by Southbound (i think) in the mid 90's. Did you have a hand in that one Adey? The 45 is a tad tricky to find though There you go, mystery solved and another cover-up ticked off Cheers Steve
-
Nice one Geoff! I played 'Without you here' as a shout out to all at Soul-Source forum cos we'd just had a similar thread a month or so ago about our Gene Chandler favourite tunes! FINALLY............wonder how many DJ's played out 'Nothing can stop me' this weekend and dedicated it to everyone who watches Corrie? Well i did anyway but mine was only a US Constellation white demo Cheers Steve
-
Just read this great thread Tons of great stuff i agree BUT I cannot believe that one particular Spring US 45 hasn't been mentioned......................and it's currently being played covered up by some wag! For a bit of fun, gonna try and see if anyone can guess it before i reveal all BUT suffice to say it's a belting strings n things 70's dancer, covered up as (wait for it)................... Essex IV - You got it......................... There you go, enough clues, i'll reveal all in the next few days if no one gets it but i'm sure someone will add one and one and get two????? Cheers Steve ps I believe the wag playing it has promised to play it at The Orwell this Friday

Geater - Breath Taking Girl - House Of Orange
Steve Plumb replied to John Reed's topic in Look At Your Box
I have been playing this at -4 (minimum) and it sounds much better suited to todays dancefloors as the actual records plays at about 125 bpm!!!!!!!!!!! I actually have a spare of this (and his Sunbelt 45 for that matter) as we speak..........could be a monster in the right hands Cheers Steve -
