  1. This was in Flanny's sales box on Friday at The Orwell. If you pm me i'll forward on his email to you Cheers Steve
  2. To my knowledge, no one has found any issues or demos on US Loadstone - wonder whether an orig acetate or maybe even test pressings exist? Maybe Adey C knows a bit more bout it? btw I have a spare copy of the Jay Boy 45 - please PM me if you fancy it? Cheers Steve
  3. Just a thought BUT why don't we keep it to Rare Soul CD's only? Gotta be lots of CD only tracks knocking around that attract fairly big money - not talking £1000's BUT there plenty at say £20-£50 which is what i consider to be 'rare' in Soul CD terms! There's plenty of 80's/90's rare CD's (Bert Robinson's first CD etc) plus loads of 60's/70's unreleased tracks on 'hard' CDs (Jackie Ross - Trust in me, David Ruffin 'David' CD etc) Any thoughts? Cheers Steve
  4. www.soulmusic.co.uk Just a quick note to let you know that another batch of 'New Stuff' has just been added! The 'Rarities' section has also been updated as have the other three sections 'Top Sellers', 'In Stock' & 'On Sale' We have also launched our new 'Front Page Focus' with the new 45 release from Al Williams! Most of the new 45's are single copies or there's maybe a couple of copies of each, so you need to make up your mind quickly, them get them bought before the rest of the Soul World get to find out about it ;-) Go on, have a look............you know you want to :-) Cheers Steve Plumb 28th October 2006
  5. Bought that from Voices back in the day Very nice Steve
  6. Fookin ell..................the David Ruffin CD is IMMENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 13 unreleased tracks ALL brilliant! There's a couple of versions of known tunes and a number of brill Northern dancers (incl one potential MONSTER), a few crossover dancers and a couple of mid tempo things - total brilliance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's even a track written by Duke Browner which was originally intended for The Volumes which was re-assigned to DR - that's brill too!!! Problem is which track to play tonight???????????? btw The Eddie Kendricks has 7 unreleased tracks, mainly nice ballads but there's a tasty mid tempo track from 1972 worth playing too! Cheers Steve
  7. Cheers Ged Sorry i couldn't stop for your set, I usually make a full night of it but this time i had summat on and had to shoot off early. See you soon Steve
  8. Ooh i hope we don't disappoint you..........the 'real' Northern night is the next two roomer in November! But by Modern, in this instance we mean late 60's (mainly) 70's and maybe the odd early 80's thing...................hope you like it! Cheers Steve
  9. Killer tune that Aretha.......... TJ dropped it at last Orwell too, sounded ace Looking forward to hearing Mike tonight Cheers Steve
  10. ps Good luck tomorrow - Please do me a favour and tell Colin that the Aretha track (Don't let me lose this dream) is on the 'I never loved a man' LP Cheers Steve

  12. Many thanks for the comments re - The Orwell, much appreciated Actually, just thought................maybe we should do organised tours of The Casino site on Station Road as there are a few old casino regulars frequent The Orwell who would be willing to be your guides ...........i'll get me coat S
  13. Hey Shane Friday at The Orwell is a 'missing Yarmouth' one room special, so the emphasis will be on quality 70's & Crossover..........although there'll be some quality 60's played for sure! btw The two room Orwell/Soul Shack returns on the 24th Nov when Mr Bicknell (amongst others) will be in attendance dropping those tasty things he plays on a Sunday night! Back to the thread, personally, new (old) stuff wise, just got a couple of tasty new CD's from David Ruffin & Eddie Kendricks which have just been released on CD by Motown via Hip-O-Select in the US. There's approx 20 previously unreleased tracks on them circa '69-'72 and they sound a bit tasty. Not decided which to go with yet (only got them today and have only quickly skimmed them - one's a double and the other a treble CD) but will certainly be giving something off them a spin. If there's owt as good as the 'Four Tops - Clip my wings' or 'David Ruffin - I won't be hurt anymore' from the last batch of Motown/Hip-O-Select offerings we'll be all in for a treat Hope this is the sort of thing you're looking for in this thread? Cheers Steve

  18. ...i'm sure i have this somewhere but can't remember the artist at the moment. It's obviously a 90's cover version of Hard Cover but can't place who it is for the mo' This hasn't really helped sorry! Cheers Steve
  19. can't wait to hear them two.............particularly the lovely Mr Thorley (whose signature is currently drying on an Orwell contract for guesting in the very near future ) i'll get in line Mark, no hurry mate, when you can fit me in. If everything goes well in November, we'd hope that 2007 will see you running the Soul Shack at The Orwell monthly!!!....................so we'll be assuring everyone who loves the sounds on the show (and quality Northern in general) that if they want a regular place where they can hear and dance to this tackle, then it starts with the Nov gig Cheers Steve
  20. Got a bit boring with me saying how good MB's show is every week ................but as i haven't said owt for a few weeks.................last nights show was superb!!!!!! Well done mate - keep it up Particularly loved the Revue montage! Had me dancing round the living room Cheers Steve

  23. Twas on Mr Manships auction last year........a real oddity! (Yellow, styrene, West Coast with orig delta number of Younghearts) The label designer must have forgot to change the name of the earlier release by the Tempos on one side! Which makes it a true original!!!!! Went for about £150 i think? Cheers Steve
  24. Oi Mr Mooney....you calling me a trainspotter  I resemble that remark Cheers Steve
