  1. There's always one isn't there (hee hee) My advice is to snap this up from young Lofty - I actually envy anyone getting to hear this for the first time!!!!! Steve ps Well done Mr Rounce on obtaining the Stang stunner - hope you've still got all your body parts
  2. ...............weeeeeeell, I was on last hour and 'out and out' Northern wasn't called for, so it stayed in the box (or the CD case). I put the night in front of the ego How's that for an anti-climax It's real quality, so it'll still be as good when it finally does get played out! It's forthcoming for a label, so I can't post it yet til i get permission BUT i will as soon as I can! Famous last words i know, but hopefully, once promos are made available it'll become popular on the Northern scene! Cheers Steve
  3. Linda Jones - Not on the outside - Turbo The 45 responsible for my 30+ year love of Deep Soul Steve
  4. Wow! Just stumbled onto this thread late - first of all, many many thanks for your kind words Sean (and also Steve G too!) Yep, it was great fun doing that 'LP only' set at Yarmouth and I was over the moon with the reception to it too, particularly as it was at a crucial moment in the night with a rammed house looking to be entertained!!!!! The round of applause at the end was possibly the best thing I've EVER experienced on the soul scene!!!!!!!! I didn't realise there was any resistance to any DJ using original LP's to DJ with as I've never come across it before? I simply apply the same rules to LP's as I would to playing of original 45. I also play tracks from original LP's that have come out on 45 too, without feeling at all guilty! (Luther on Cotillion for example). Low sound needn't be an issue, as long as your playing on a quality system, you just need to tweak a couple of the right buttons and you're away (as long as you remember to put them back after though!!!!) There's stil loads and loads of great LP tracks waiting to be re-discovered. The 'LP only' CD swap that about 30 of us from soul-source did a few months ago is testament to that!!! LP tracks are the new black Cheers Steve
  5. Hi Dylan And just to bring the thread round full circle (after all, I did start it in Oct'05!), it would have been me playing it at Yarmouth 07, whilst you sloped on the pool table btw I personally love 'Come back to me' (particularly the last half of the record as it builds and builds) BUT it ain't a patch on his Black Circle 45 which has to be one of the best records EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At a 20th of the price of the Stang 45 too!!!! Cheers Steve Cheers Steve
  6. www.soulmusic.co.uk Just a quick note to let you know that another batch of 45's have just been added to the site! There's a whole bunch of brilliant stuff up there BUT numbers are limited on many of the 45's so you need to get in straight away or risk missing out!!!! 7. Hope you got the Gemm 45? - if not I have one but it's nearer to Mr M's price than Gemm's unfortunately Cheers Steve
  8. Yes, I feel the same about it too - it's one of those that when played out always gets someone coming up asking who's version it is?.................cos it's such a great song I think all 4 versions each have their merits!
  9. Hi John Oh yes, the Audio Arts & Mirwood instrumentals too! Wouldn't part with them either! Definitely worth keeping - especially if you are planning on a karaoke Northern Soul night at your next cocktail party Cheers Steve
  10. Sorry Pete, I simply meant 'Gwen Owens'
  11. Hi Adam Now you've hit on another reason why people collect some of the early 70's pressings! Those three Modern boots have great instrumentals on them that aren't on the originals. I have all three of these meself and wouldn't sell them even tho' i have the originals. I have quite a few other pressings i wouldn't part with either - in particular the Soul Fox 45 of Belles/Jackie Lee and i'm sure there's others! Plus, it's nice to have a Green vinyl Salvadores or a Green Gwen Owens until an original comes along Cheers Steve
  12. Despite the rights or wrongs in it, when you buy collections, many boots come with these collections. I never put them in my sales boxes or web site so i opt to sell them on eBay because there is a worldwide demand for certain titles. I've sold a few 70's 'pressings' on eBay over the years and on EVERY one of them i've described them as being a '70's boot' (rather than 'bootleg') and eBay haven't ever pulled any of them from their auctions! Hope this helps Blake? Cheers steve
  13. Sorry Dave, I mislead you IT IS late 60's - not 'sounds late 60's' - I meant it in a 'could be very early 70's but more than likely late 60's' stylee, rather than the suggestion that it's just been made to sound 'late 60's' - sorry for the confusion! And no it wasn't a plug to say turn up on Friday as it's the only place you'll hear it - I'm not that synical! imho It's a brill track that i think has got mileage on the Northern scene, which i'm sure it will do when heard! Cheers Steve
  14. Hi All I've just had the pleasure of listening to a most amazing unreleased Northern Soul dancer! Sounds late 60's with a brill vocal, pounding beat, plenty of horns and a great song with a strong hook line too!!!!! I think it's got legs, so will give it a spin this Friday at The Orwell and let those more knowledgable than meself see if it's got the right ingredients to be played at current Northern venues! Watch this space and I'll report back at the weekend Cheers Steve
  15. Yes I managed to prise it from a certain Mr Barnfather earlier in the year at the cost of a certain body part! I was gutted to see it on a list for £40 a month or so ago.................my one remaining testicle jumped back into my body after reading that ..............it had of course gone! Cheers Steve
  16. I reckon this will be harder and harder to find once all copies that have been hanging in and around web sites/sales boxes have been snapped up! ............and the title is actually called 'I'm just nobody'
  17. I have MINT copies of this fabulous 45 on me site www.soulmusic.co.uk Cheers Steve
  18. Just come back from a two week holiday where the internet connection was slow and expensive, so i've not had chance to get on soul-source. I am absolutely gutted to hear this sad news! Sunday's 8pm-10pm either listening live or listening a coupla days later via Sky+ are a highlight of my week. Can i echo what everyone has said Mark, you'll be sadly missed! Congratulations on the last 7 or so years of quality, passionate radio presenting. Speak to you soon mate Cheers Steve
  19. Hi John Thanks for the info It's just that i've only ever had a couple of US copies and approx ten UK over time - i know that's not scientific and not a great number to work with but we only tend to call it from our own experience. Either way, as i said before, both US &/or UK would be circa £150 (imho) if demand outstripped supply from spins on the Northern scene. I also don't think that it'll do an 'up and then down' price thing like say, Ace Spectrum etc cos it is a pretty tough 45 and there's not guzzilions around. Cheers Steve
  20. Ah glad we got that sorted - the 'next 70's 45 to cross over to the Northern scene' Had me worried for a bit cos it's been a 70's/Modern Soul floor filler for years and has had a price of £50-£75 (US or UK) for at least 10 years! Dare I say that I disagree with you Mr Manship in rarity terms too! I reckon if this took off it would easily be a £150 in-demander. I also personally think the US copy is rarer than the UK issue OR demo too! I'm prepared to be proved wrong though Cheers Steve
  21. Yes Karl, sorry, should have said that it originally came out 4 years earlier on Glades & UK President! The Echo version does seem to be the original 'Glades' version too rather than a re-recorded version! Cheers Steve
  22. I could not have relayed that any better meself Mark - Spot on in every way, as far as I'm concerned! Cheers Steve
  23. Hasn't young Sam just acquired this?
