  2. Thank you Mr Jazera Just added some CD's too The list included some tough to find CD's from the early days (Early days of CD's that is!) Cheers Steve
  3. I have a spare ISSUE copy of Jamal Trice - which has the brill 'Nothing is too good for you baby' on the B side (demos are double sided of ILINTA) Give us a PM if interested - trades would be OK Steve

  5. www.soulmusic.co.uk/LP_12_CD_List.htm It's only in list form i.e. No scans or MP3's BUT lots of good stuff up there Budweiser's, Current 70's Northern spins, Modern dancers, Steppers etc and even a bit of Soulful Garage One copy of each Email sales@soulmusic.co.uk for more info OR to reserve anything Cheers Steve
  6. Still struggling with the etiquette of how this will all work - I'm sure a 'right way of doing it' will work itself out! Don't fancy haggling in view of everyone, so I guess PM will be best for that, although letting the thread know you have a copy might also prompt someone else who wants it to contact you etc etc etc So, in this case, I'll kick off by saying I have an Ex US 45 of Three Pieces that i'd like to swap Wouldn't mind the Ron Kenoly but don't believe that's a straight swap..................... The rest I guess we can do with PM? We'll get there in the end with this new sub forum I'm sure - looks an interesting variation on simply selling stuff AS a lot of stuff in the sales section ended up being trades anyway! Cheers Steve
  7. yep, sounds good to me too
  8. Hiya I know a guy who I think has a copy - he's on here, so I'll pm him and get him to get in contact with you Cheers Steve
  9. No probs - it's a tough LP to find actually! Got a great cheesy pic of the group on the front too Cheers Steve
  10. I have the IAP Co LP on Colossus with that on it for sale? Is it just the 45 you're after? Cheers Steve
  11. Well, there are exceptions............................and them's two of them! That other thing on Maple by that chap (name escapes me!) too!
  12. I think there is a market for a 'John Manship' type price guide for Soul & Funk LP's........................maybe Mr M himself should do it? How 'bout it John? Might give the LP market a much needed boost (I haven't really got thousands of LP's for sale) btw £30 for The Heartstoppers is literally giving it away (other great tracks on it too!) BUT like you said, no one wants 'em! Cheers Steve
  13. Hee Hee - mine's just resurfaced..............after spending time in the big box of 'cheapies' in the garage It'd dead expensive now, so it must be good Actually, the mid tempo side is very very good (imho) Cheers Steve
  14. I have the most amazing Soul/Funk LP book/directory BUT it's all in Japanese!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great piccies tho' including tons of mega rare US LP's Can't remember anything else about it at the moment without digging it out Cheers Steve
  15. aye, the 'third way' is certainly NOT a get rich quick scheme that's for sure Definitely smaller (but beautifully put together ) Promotors of 'third scene' gigs certainly don't do it for the money Cheers Steve
  16. Hi Tony Not sure if you're sorted or not yet? I have a Black VeeJay copy - think it's Ex (need to check) and if it is Ex it'll be £50 PM me if you need it Cheers Steve
  17. Hee Hee - yeah but i mean it this time Simon Once we've all got it (and we will!), it will be unstoppable! Cheers Steve
  18. Nice one Dave ALWAYS appreciate a free plug and big up As a DJ who's been on twice at The Orwell this year, I'd say that your playlist epitomises what we and other like-minded events are all about! In fact your great balanced sets (especially at the anniversary in March) was exactly what i was talking about earlier! Does that equal things up mate Cheers Steve
  19. It's a shame cos imho most of the records mentioned in this thread are great (with the odd exception 'cough' Pioneers ) The problem is, when you look at the dance floor it's usually packed when one of these is playing, so it's difficult to blame the DJ! What bothers me personally, is when they are trotted out one after another! To me, that's the DJ just being lazy! In a dance floor driven scene, they are always going to be needed to pep up a dance floor BUT that's when the DJ should be looking to play summat different once he's/she's got them up! So, to me, hearing one or two 'overplayed' oldies in a set is no biggie as long as it's balanced with something semi-known, different or simply 'underplayed' btw Just got what i consider to be a future 'overplayed' 70's classic!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't know much about it at the mo' as it's unreleased and I have no idea who it is etc BUT after a number of plays, i'm convinced it's gonna be a biggun and (hopefully) one everyone will be moaning about hearing all the time in the future Cheers Steve
  20. Just for the avoidance of doubt, I don't see the Orwell (or The Greatstone for that matter) as 'Across the board' OR 'Modern' venues! Being a one room venue we do play a wider range of tuneage BUT not 'truly' across the board! I'd say late 60's to early 80's (at a push) are about the limits! Mainly late 60's/early 70's Crossover, mid/late 70's modern soul, quality 60's & a few late 70's/early 80's steppers! I know this isn't exactly what this thread is about BUT these one room events are a kind of 'third scene' that have a life of their own. Look around the country, there's quite a few that have sprung up around the place nowadays! Cheers Steve
  21. .....................you lazy get Mr Anderton
  22. Yeah (from memory), One is Inn II numbering system and the other has a WB number - two different artist spellings, two different numbers BUT only ONE version of the song!!!!!!!!! Still one of the best songs ever made imvho Cheers Steve
  23. £10-£15 at a guess?
  24. Hi Again John Wow, that long ago! Bet it had summat poncy written on the sleeve, like 'Sounds great now! Would be a monster if played' Cheers Steve
  25. weeeell technically it wasn't an addition cos it wasn't issued and no I (cough) sorry, they didn't find any others so imvho they did an A1 job of hunting them down before the article from memory, they even got the two releases of Sir Wales Wallace right too Cheers Steve OBE (Old Big Ed)
