  2. I think this may have been mixed up with The Limitations 'All because of you' on Volt?
  3. Wow! That was superb wasn't it Steve! What a great finger snapping dancer Tamiko shouldn't be too difficult to get hold of Stefan - good to see you over the weekend! Cheers Steve
  4. I have a mate who's a Doctor of Chemistry and I asked him ages ago this very question i.e. Is it possible to date the vinyl/styrene of old/new 45's. He said he thought it may be possible BUT as far as he knew it would mean the near destruction of said 45's! At the very least a lump of each 45 would be needed for testing and simply drilling the 45 (like a deletion for example) would heat up and trash the plastic so at the very least a biggish hole would need to be cut out of the label for use in the various aging processes! Pete's dating thing is very interesting! If it can be done like for example by putting chemicals on the run out groove or summat, that'd be like gold dust! Problem is vinyl & styrene are completely different animals! On a lighter note, if it could be done, it'd be like a pregnancy testing kit for old vinyl/styrene We should start a competition for marketing names of a kit like this....any ideas? One for starters would be the 'HYMElich manoeuvre'....................or just 'The Frederick' for short................i'll get me coat Cheers Steve
  5. Good news and bad news.............. I have TWO spare copies...............and the bad news is they are both VG They both sorta play OK with a few pops and crackles but they both look shite! I'd be embarrassed to sell them to be honest although i'd trade them both for a couple of twenty quid records! Cheers Steve ps I have a version of 'If you haven't got love' by the Masterkeys on Sport (not for sale i hasten to add). Not as good imho but worth tracking down!
  6. .........and the very same copy that Maxine played at Uptown Down South is the very same copy now played at The Orwell Good to see you over the weekend Steve and you too Russ! Cheers Steve

Angel Risoff Break out the tears This has been setting the Modern & Northern dance floors alight over the last couple of years as a CD-only track. 15. Totally agree Cliff 'Why me' is bloody fabulous ain't it!!!! Think you'll be spinning 'Soothe you' too as it's also a luvverly tune Cheers Steve
  16. It's a few years ago now since Dave Lucas brought the CD into The Orwell and insisted we play 'Break out the tears'............think Flanny put it on a vinyl carvers and hammered it at Northern do's too! The biggest surprise is the B side 'Soothe you'..........this is NOT on his brill CD and I think will pleasantly surprise many people! A wonderful finger snapping retro dancer from a various artist CD from a couple of years ago! Mr Tee has sent me a little box of these 45's so they will be available on www.soulmusic.co.uk this weekend too.......................I guess it doesn't matter where you get it from..........just get it!!!! Cheers Steve
  17. That's the baby! More of a sky blue with clear black type. 2nd issue is 'greeny blue' with smudgier black type! Easy! Cheers Steve

  20. fookin ell Mark, it was in me £1 box - thanks for the heads up - just dug it out and repriced it
  21. I have a spare W/D of Stan Ivory for sale - all nicely washed and brushed up and sat in the box ready for Yarmouth Cheers Steve
  22. Aye you lot in the corner filled your boots on the Saturday morning after Th'Orwell, hoovering up the spare copies on t'internet didn't you Late last year i was lucky enough to bag a couple of copies and put them on me site at £100 each and they sold immediately!!!!!!!!!!!! Found another a month or so later and that went even quicker - must have been a world record - went on me site (cough www.soulmusic.co.uk) and it sold literally within minutes!!!!! Gotta disagree with you though Kirsty as I think it sounds fabulous at home too Dave - Are you and Manny looking to reissue 'You happened to me' in the near future...............maybe with 'Just loving you' on the B side!!!!!! Cheers Steve
  23. PM'd ya
  24. It may not be 'Northern' but KENNY LYNCH - MOVIN' AWAY (HMV 1967) has had more than it's fair share of spins on the 70's/Crossover scene! Fairly good (not great) record imvho although i've never been keen on the Righteous Bros style break in the middle of it! Always had a soft spot for Keanya Collins too, although listening to that now it sounds more Chicago Crossover than Northern.....and it was played 15 years before the term was invented! Rest are shite imvho tho Steve
  25. Good thread Ian It's funny, I'd dug the 45 out this week for a spin at The Orwell this Saturday! Another uptempo side of theirs that's currently getting spins in the 70's & Crossover clubs is 'I told you so' - that's brill as well! Cheers Steve
