Anyone mentioned Flowers - For real? A late 80's Saturday afternoon weekender spin from Richard Searling that grew from there, or was it played earlier? I know RS got it from Bernie Golding out of IL's collection BUT wasn't aware of it til about '87? Be interesting to know if there's earlier spins for this or if RS actually played it at Stafford et al? Another, although not a monster 'Locations - Mr Diamond man' Sam spin from the early 90's Another 'not a monster' (but it hasn't stopped others ) - Norma Jean - I've taken over - Hep Me - mid 90's discovery! This is a great point Jayne - sort of damned if you do, damned if you don't! Not exclusivel to young DJ's either! Same goes for the 'mild reaction' thing I'm afraid! This happens to ALL DJ's regardless of age imho. A more well known DJ will usually get a better reaction to a tune played by a lesser known DJ................bet zillions on here can give examples too!!! Like it or not, this is the way the scene works imho! I've heard Alex and he sounded good to me with lots of passion (which is what you need, that's for sure!), Sean is great as we know (well, he's a veteran now isn't he ) and we also have a young lad up here called Danny Clegg who is as passionate as you can be about Northern (& 70's). He plays originals wherever possible with a great rig of his own too! Interesting (although not surprising) that most young DJ's do so cos of influence from their owd fella! Hi Steve Be interesting to see if it's a US issue? Like i said, i have it twice with Inn II # and a WB # but both on Inn II It does make sense that it did crop up on WB though............they re-promoted it when WB took over distribution (I think Inn II operated as an indie for the first few releases) and possbily pressed up the first copies on WB! Wonder if Wales Wallace got the same treatment cos that got two releases too! If it is Steve, you probably have a very rare reissue Cheers Steve

That's right Paul - some of the Inn II release came out twice too, with Inn II release numbers AND Warners numbers including Quadrophonics & Wales Wallace BUT don't recall seeing them on WB..........unless maybe they were released in Canada or summat, in which case they 'may' have been on WB???? Just out of interest............ You can get those 'last played clip' records next to your name even if you don't listen to them! I haven't listened to the last three or four next to my name. If you're doing a google search for a track and the soul-source refo post page comes up in the search (which it often does!) it will assign it to to your 'last played clip' part of your account! I had summat really bad on once as i was searching for something on behalf of someone. Can't remember what it was BUT I quickly found summat else to replace it with Cheers Steve

Saddo that I am, I've just dug out all three versions and can report they ARE all different! Everything I said above is right except the 45's are NOT simply the 12" split in two! All three versions are the same up to the break (about two to two and a half minutes in). The 12" then has a long break (about 3 mins)and a brief vocal refrain. The bit from the break to the end of the 12" is virtually the same as both Part 2's on the 45's. (Don't forget the Roulette 45 & 12" are slightly more Discofied than the P&P 45!) The BIG difference is the 45's from the break actually have a completely different ending with lots of vocals and choruses that are NOT on the 12". The 45's are more of a song (if you know what I mean?) The 12" is of course louder than the 45's! On balance I think I prefer the P&P original 45 version (which is just called ESP by the way!) I think I need a lie down................................................ Steve

I have all 3 releases (45 P&P, 45 Roulette, 12" Roulette) All different! Orig P&P less discoey and more earthy than Roulette version. 12" full version with long instrumental bit in the middle. 45 Roulette (from memory) Parts 1 & 2 I think is the actual 12" and the same mix but i'd need to double check that! Will do it later unless someone comes up with the full answer before then? Cheers Steve

I have a 'Mustard' Issue meself which is a very tasty alternative to the W/D but the B side isn't Funk.............from memory (not played it for yonks) it's a very disappointing mish-mash of a record that the Funk boys would probably laugh at! Apologies if I'm wrong on this as i said i hadn't played it for yonks! When i bought it i was SO hoping it'd be a brill 70's dancer, a brill deep cut or a brill Funk track BUT it was none of them! If it was a top B side it's be up there with the holy grail 45's imho cos it not easy to find at all!
