  1. Thanks a lot for this, really need to buy a price guide but when I have the money I always think record or book, record wins every time. Thanks again
  2. Hi, can anyone give me a value on Little Ritchie One-Bodillion Years-Sound Stage 7 DJ copy. Thanks Jimmy W
  3. Couldn't agree more Pete, I was going to make the same piont about "The In Crowd", When are we going to see Volume 2 ?
  4. Can't disagree with your comments on Gladys, but another strong contender for me has to be Bobby Womack, quality decade after decade
  5. I'll go along with this one Joan, Merry Christmas to all and a soulful 2006
  6. For me I'd banish Third Window From The Right forever. Although at least it gives an opportunity to go to the loo or the bar.
  7. Highlight of 2005 for me was in Aubust going to the Appollo in Harlem to see Jerry Butler, Gene Chandler, Ben E King and Lloyd Price, enjoyed it so much it brought tears to my eyes :good:
  8. Couldn't agree more
  9. For me it's got to be Dusty's version of Whats It Gonna Be. Also love Long John Baldry's version of The Drifter
  10. Thanks Tim missed the original post where this was mentioned, will definately try to catch this one
  11. Cheers Dan I have played it over and over since Friday and it gets better with each play.
  12. Thanks Tubbs, that is a real surprise, it sounds so 70's.
  13. I bought a record at the weekend "If This Aint Love (Don't Know What Is)" by Nicole Willis and the Soul Investigators on Timmion. Wondered if any of you knowledgeable people had any info, year, city, anything else on the label, any plays anywhere. Thanks in anticipation. Jimmyw.
  14. Hi Dukester, I have been planning to travel up to Easington for a while now but due to circumstances havn't made it yet. Looking at your set above i'm now even more determined to make it. Good stuff.
  15. These incedents are absolutely disgusting, although never had records nicked I did have a so called friend steal an envelope from my house which contained a lot of money put to one side to pay a bill (A guy I had travelled all over the country with) and because of this I had to sell my best records to make some of the money back up again. This was back in 1985 and I could not afford to replace them then, at todays prices I would have to win the lottery Personally I would be happy to take anyone cought stealing at a soul do down a back alley and give them a right good kicking
  16. My last six Hand it Over- Chuck Jackson - Wand I'm A Fool I Must Love You - Falcons Big Wheel Hide Nor Hair - Earl Grant - Canadian Decca This Is The House Where Love Died - First Choice - Sceptre Youv'e Got It - Dealers - Big Bunny She's Gonna Love Me At Sundown - Spinners - VIP
  17. Hi Dan I know just what you mean about the pleasure of playing vinyl I've been trying to explain this to my wife for years and she still does not get it. It's great playing vinly at home for all the reasons you said, but it's even better playing to a full dance floor
  18. Apart from youth club etc first record that sticks in my mind was Tiffanys in Halifax in 1977 with Pat Brady playing Chandlers - Your Love Makes Me Lonely Fell in love with the track and started a long term love affair with Northern Soul
  19. Couldnt agree more Steve I don't mind when the occasional record I don't like gets played it gives me a chance to get off the dance floor to look at any records for sale
  20. Hi Dave, no that was Snowy, a great spot as well
  21. Well said Jamie, I started to attend Drax on a regular basis just after it started and have always had a good time there, I have also done several guest spots when I only play vinyl out of choice not out of any disagreement about the policy of playing CD's. The majority of people who I know that go to Drax really don't care about the medium the music is played on as long as they are having a good time. it has also been responsible for reintroducing people back onto the scene and who now attend other venues throughout the country, me included
  22. I bought this two weeks ago and can't stop playing Hey Girl, absolutely brilliant track
  23. Enjoyed some great nighters in the eighties, many already mentioned such as Parr Hall Clifton Hall Queens Hall Bradford Carousel Manchester also Civic Hall Brighouse run by a guy called Ivor Allen who did quite a few good nighters and dayers in the eighties
  24. Now then si thee al ave a bit o that
  25. Cheers again Mandy PM'd Mace, aren't I clever he gave me Garys number
