Due to a reshuffle, I ve got a spare caravan on Thorpe Park. It s a two bedroom three star caravan which I booked at the weekend last year so is offered at the super cheap price (IE HALF PRICE ) of £134 plus p and p. You will need to sort out weekend passes! pm if interested Catriona

Aretha s cd with it on it well worth buying. So damn Happy! And worth listening out for Phil Perry s version of Wonderful on the Jimmy Levine cd from earlier this year too.

I would rather listen to really bad soul music than any C and W or Rock opera. I shared a house in the middle of nowhere with a girl who loved Meatloaf and Chris De Burgh. It s was torture! Pity the poor folks on list who have to endure radio or piped music all day every day in their workplace. Esther Phillips voice is horrible imho

Each to their own but for me CJ is one of the best male vocalists you can get, but then I like great big vocals over blowsy orchestration. The first time I heard hand it over I thought I d died and gone to heaven. I love em all and it was great to see him do Girls Girls Girls live at Northampton, it was absolute class. x -
It s probably just me honey but I dont think modern soul is a useful description for 20 or 30 year old records. So I prefer 70 s soul, 80 s soul etc. Most decades show a significant shift in instrumentation and styles so as a form of classification that would be my preference. Modern soul to me is the new stuff coming out from wonderful soul artists like Rahsaan Patterson, Maysa Leak and Phil Perry. Shall I get my tin hat?

I like the Pioneers and have no problem with Lou Rawls but the rest of them can happily be taken to the soul dumping ground never to reappear esp the ironically titled tribute to Betty. -

The local TK Max is a Mecca (groan) of all tunes soul related. Yesterday they had my son s fav Bobby Womack,Across 110th street , Alton Mclain and Destiny and some Marvin Gaye. It worked as well because I stayed in there long enough to consider buying something...but then I changed my mind. Someone with a degree in marketing has worked out the 40 something soul lover should have a disposable income to spend on reduced designer wear and is creating a happy shopping ambience for us which is nice isnt it?

You ought to come over and get yourself out then Steve. You must be able to afford too with all these cheap air fairs . I think if you did you would understand why there is so much feeling about the number of do s and nature of music on offer.
