  1. heres a photo although doesnt give much away... makes it look better than it is. as said i did have it cleaned which got rid of that residue (still no b side which plays fin) kinda looks like watermarks? anyway
  2. I sort of like this idea just want to be sure im not going to inflict more damage?
  3. ive gotta say listening to that full clip is a real treat as ive never heard the track so clearly... its almost like a different record. are there any remastered versions? never heard the outta sight reissue is that from the master tapes or??
  4. actually the label looks to be moulded on so my guess is its vinyl, although im not great at telling which is which...
  5. ill see how it plays tomorrow as ive got a gig... was a real shame as i thought id done really well! but may be ok or at least i can sell it on and get another... i read somewhere that the difference between elliptical and conical styli can eradicate this as one sits less in the groove than the other, also causing less wear or something or other. just to double check; run out has 65c and also features AT and these are the two definitive indicators are they not? and whats the current going rate? cheers all
  6. cheers pete although i think it may have left me even more confused aha... in my opinion (which is worth nothing btw) the two i own which are as follows: blue (darkish) with black letters seems a second issue as the sound quality is there (even though the VIRTUE is absent) and the white with blue lettering lord knows but the sound quality is slightly worse, a little distorted as if it were booted... just to add to the confusion, i have a Help wanted/ladys man which is blue on blue... original? the only thing is that and the white and blue storm warning were bought off one seller and he or previous owner scratched the name Klarkie into the deadwax as well, which at first made me assume Klarkie booted both but it seems more like it was a property thing... cheers for all the help and sorry to flog a dead horse!
  7. strange... my more obvious boot has all this yet my new copy which i was sold as an original and sounds it does not. so i now have two boots it would appear. waht a bluddy ball ache. so would i be right in sayin there is only one definitive issue, blue on blue, and one definitive demo, one sided?
  8. Just bought a tired yet really cheap (ish) copy of Coasters crazy baby... on my set up, that being dual player with ortofon cart and dual head the track plays with abit of distortion, enough to make it a pain to listen to... crackles and pops i wouldnt have minded but this is annoying.. obviously seller didnt mention this but it was a third of the price of a normal copy and i 100% original (ie. 65c and with AT in run out)... had it cleaned today at a shop and it sounded better in the shop but not at home. man said there was residue form the plastic lined wallets? having said that the b side doesnt have the distortion problems... it that the record is a bit played out? i mean it still sounds ok but it distorts on the louder parts... any help appreciated, record degradation is an unknown area to me and if theres any info out there thatd be great!
  9. and theres no variants on that? mine is definitely blue label and black letters yet sound quality is far better than the more obvious boot.. any specific deadwax info? both simply have A-vol 3 scratched in...
  10. So it seems theres not only alot of boots but alot of originals too... I have 2 copies... one is the white back with blue letters. This is a boot. ive just recieved what im sure is an original with blue back and black letters... the previous thread on this topic does not mention this version however... a while ago i posted up a want add for this record and was offered boots as originals so even though its a cheapie, its such a great tune and it would be great to have a comprehensive understanding of this record! cheers
  11. Great band. If your after look at what i almost missed you can have mine if you ever travel down to london. I prefer pat lewis but both are great plus she sang backing on their version i believe..
  12. Although its inet quality the vocal takes sound purposefully distorted to mimic the great saturation from the old studios... Yet a little too obvious for me. Hilarious though. Nice to see another group reproducing a classic soul sound. Although the vocal in starman, no matter how great a cover, leaves a little to be desired. Having said that its too tempting to play this at an oldies night...
  13. Even cheaper is what you gave up which is just as good!
  14. Selling my mums camper. On ebay https://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=330857232603&index=0&nav=SELLING&nid=72459294557
  15. Monroe taylor proud guy... What a tune. Highly recommended.

  17. Some one buy esquires its an awesome cheapie!
  18. The lps dirt cheap and got some nice tracks on it for when your listening at home and dont wanna get up every two mins.. Great cover art too called african lady. Bougt it purely cause i knew the syl johnson version saw it and though my interest was at leadt worth 50p aha
  19. Oh and its fun y you use the term appreciation. I find there are elements of needing approval from the older ones which i personally think is a load of bollocks. Dont get me wrong learning about the re ords and what came where and how it developed is great but it should always remain a personal journey and identity not a quest for approval! Atb
  20. Well im young and love the scene.. Need to start goin to more nights though.. In london it does seem to be a younger crowd ezpecially at the more mod orientated nights. I think this is distinctive from soulies bringing their kids on the scene, my parents were never into it, ive just found me own passion like alot of the younger lot in london. I also have started collecting anx running nights but i can say it can be a very intimidating scene. Ive had nights ive run where ive only been critiscised and seen middle aged folk behaving like children... Not really fair when i. Half their age id expect a bit more. But it hasnt put me off just need to find the right crowd and do it yourself for yourself! Its all just good fun at the end of the day.
  21. Being young and nrw to collecting these records yhis thread is making me die a little inside.
  22. I keep hearing similar stories. I think its only fair that re ords get a 50% mark down for anyone under 25... Just to keep things fair. And competitive.
  23. I put unleaded in my lammie but always add a little 2 stroke.. If i put the wrong fuel in i blame the petrol station.. Anyone got a gig for me? ;)
  24. Alright. this is my favorite tune ever and ive finally saved enough money for it. so. please pm price and cond. with sensible and really good offers As this is my first big purchase ie. over 60 quid, i may want sound clips and scans if not mint minus. Ta!
  25. Hi there got a spare of this legendary amp. Sadly its got a fault. One speaker chanelis not right think it needs a new trannie. Also after a while it distorts and cuts out.. Collection only from se london up for offers or trade for vinyl! (tried puttin it on ebay but keep getting foreign bidders when it clearly states collection so have given up!)
