Another night of great music presented over a great sound system to an appreciative audience in a superb, large venue with a superb sound system. An all-star DJ line up featuring Ted Massey, Dave Evison, Rob Smith, Steve Glover and yours truly were spinning the original vinyl. Possibly the first time there's ever been an entirely 'Over 70s' DJ roster! A little chilly on a very cold night but warmed up as the night progressed. Also affected a little by the World Cup Football quarter finals and very last "Out Of Time" Mod/Soul event in the City Centre, which some had tickets for. x

  9. STABLES (Brookfields Club).. Continues Instalment 3 SATURDAY 3rd DECEMBER 7 Hours : 7pm - 2am Only £5 on the door TOP SOUL DJs... Ted Massey, Pep, Rob Smith,Steve Glover + Dave Evison playing a tribute set for STEVE WHITTLE who was originally booked for this night before he tragically passed away ____________________________________ Here is a review of the very well attended relaunch night several weeks ago. The second instalment was equally brilliant and the live photos are from that night. As several DJs, attendees and dancers have already made clear, it was a superb night of quality soul music, old and not so old. The venue looked and performed exceptionally well, as did the DJs who kept the dancefloor rocking all night. It was a credit to them and the dancers that such high quality stuff packed the floor. We certainly had a tasteful turnout - and it was a big one! Cars and people on the large car park before doors opened at 7pm! Keen or what. And it was almost full to capacity by 10pm! Ray opened the night with popular classics; an ideal start! Dekka Banks followed, in much the same theme, as the place filled up nicely. Non-stop killers with the Four Pros "Just Another Girl" the most popular of the night so far. John Weston was next, with yet another varied selection of gems, boxed specially for the night. Some very cool stuff, including the timeless Joseph Moore. Wonderful! Dave Evison followed at 10pm, again with some not-oft-heard oldies - which worked! Nothing bog standard about this night. Rob Smith, earlier than his more usual 'graveyard' set, kept everyone happy with a nice mix of underplayed oldies and rarities like Yvonne Vernee's "Just Like You Did Me". Excellent! Sam Moore took to the stage at midnight with great mix of super-classics and underplayed gems, the highlight for me being Garland Green's "Angel Baby". I wrapped things up from 1 - 2am, with many staying until close. The more hardcore stop-outs getting a more serious selection, including my lad's favourite Betty Fikes "Prove It To Me", which is fast acquiring a following. The dancefloor was in great shape and certainly didn't require any talc! xx ______________________________________ Stunning Venue - Wonderful Dancefloor Quality Northern Soul - Amazing Value BROOKFIELD STABLES Cannock Road, Nr M6/J11, Shareshill, Wolverhampton Next Brilliant Night... 13. It's an age thing I guess but most are empty at 6am (Keele being a notable exception) and the trend is towards earlier finishes, with 4am the right time to merit the Mini-Allnighter tag. I doubt we'll ever see 8am finishes again. Do a few 6am finishes at Whitchurch too.
  14. v x
  15. We do full 6am finish ones here too, and Keele is still 6am. These seem to be popular now - a hybrid between a Soulnight and an All-Nighter. That said the 3am finish ones shouldn't have All-Nighter in the description; they're just long Soulnights. 8am finishes are of a different era. Just don't work anymore.
  16. Jez Jones added to the DJ line-up. Full timetable to follow. Looks like being the best one yet!
  17. Another great night on the cards! A proper 4am finish Mini-Allnighter for only £8 otd.
  18. Always special!
  19. Looking forward to it.

Not sure? Probably easier to get onto the Services from the Keele Road (ie. on the way home. )
