  1. Was this track covered by a female blues/soul singer? Thanks
  2. Always a good evening to be had, great tunes
  3. Always got on quite well with Doc Martins, both shoes and boots, they're a sod to break in but by the time they are the sole has usually worn down a bit, I had some combat boots resoled a couple of years back but don't think they're dance floor friendly although they make a nice sound on the Halifax cobbles
  4. Great Pictures, great city, love the place.
  5. REGGAEITES – HARRIS WHEEL, one of the top skinhead/boss sounds, never shook mi hips to it(bar from at home)
  6. Available on Kent's Uptown Soul CD. https://acerecords.co.uk/chess-uptown-soul
  7. When my daughter was little my vinyl used to live in my wardrobe in boxes in sleeves but glitter always found it's way onto the actual record
  8. Some crackin' tracks there Pete, Love JA R&B.
  9. The Top Deck Presents... CD's are very good and still available on Amazon at good prices, also think the Blue Beat CD's from 1960 to 62 are excellent, love the mid 60's ska but these early cuts are awesome, haven't heard most of them before, love JA R&B. Nice!!
  10. My Wigan too flower, loved it. XX Guv.
  11. First came across The Congo's on The Beat's 'Go-Feet' label, think Heart of the Congo's is a crackin' album as is Face the Music which also came out on Go-Feet. A recommended group of musicians in my opinion.
  12. What's Happened to Trojan? Nowt released 4 ages?
  13. Thanks Woody, thats the one, just found it on youtube, had it in mi head for other 20 years, nice one, thanks again.
  14. Ok, cheers Peter, someone must know what I'm on about?? unless I've dreamt it?? no I do remember it!!
  15. Thanks Alan, not that one either. dunno if it was a 60's or 70's track? just got the lyrical bit stuck in mi head!
  16. Ayup Pete S, not that one, ta anyway.
  17. ????
  18. Wonder if anyone can help me with a record they used to play at Bradford Queens Hall around 91/92, don't know what it was called or who it was by? the only lyric in the song I remember(which was repeated)was hoo hoo little girl followed by a Dun Dun Dun. Cheers
  19. Insurance is difficult for overseas postage, posted some records to Austraiia bout 13 years ago, insurance ok for uk and air mail but once in OZ it ends so if customs open package and knacker up parcel it's void so a waste of money, it's a case of hope for the best.
  20. Ayup Mick, no nowt about record shops in the south caribbean (or north) but if you're visiting Carriacou find a rum shop and sample some Jack Iron Rum, used to work with one of the Huddersfield Carriacou posse and he brought me some back, knocked mi sox off, runs between 80 & 90% that's volume and not proof, hope you enjoy ya jollies and manage to catch ya boat to the next island. lol. Huddersfield Caribbean carnival for excessive rum fun. ;)
  21. Great nighter, once rode over from Barnsley up and over Woodhead pass in dense fog on a black Rally 200 with 6 volt lighting, had to keep mi foot slightly on the brake pedal so we could be seen by other travellers of the night, a scary experience but it was such a good night it was worth the death wish and the ride home (when it was clear) in summer was breath taking! miss mi little Vespa now.
  22. Didn't some of the producers sell the copyright to 2 or 3 labels over here?
  23. It's one of them places I've been wanting to go for a long time but getting down to London just don't happen, black rock & roll, R&B, 60's club soul, jazz, ska & reggae are what I listen to so it sounds ideal for me, hope I can fit in another night while I'm there, never been to the 100 club or the R&B mousetrap, think there's a reggae night in Camden every now and again, what gets played at the 100 club? cheers.
  24. The early Blue Beat recordings have been released on cd, all the 1960 & 1961 are available now and the 1962 recordings are to be released this year the first part on the 25th of Febuary, due to the copyright laws anybody can release anything 50 years old or more up until sometime this year when the law moves to 70 years so the 1963 to 67 recordings probably won't surface. Can't understand why the Blue Beat catalogue has never been released before. Can't find any info on who owns the copyright.
  25. Thinking of going to the big smoke in the not too distant future, anybody on here goes to said topic at St Moritz?
