The General Pickton / Someones Front Room
Blimey you must have a big front room Jon!! It was a small function room above a pub but must have held 75 or so if I remember rightly. Danny Everard ran the night every Thursday from Sept 86 'till Dec 86 I DJed with Danny + guest's like Ady, Brian Rae, Pete Myles, Ivor Jones and other's. In fact we've just got home after a week in England and just read the thread, checking our post there's an envelope from our old mate Dave Warr containing a darn good comp' CD and a few old flyer's for the "Picton"! Spooky or what? One flyer say's "coming soon Darge,Buck,Coombes,Evison,Bicknell+more" Hopefully Dave can scan a few flyer's 'an put 'em up Think Danny fell out with the Picton's landlord or there was a change of management so the night"s ended, shame 'cos they were a good laugh and weekly Danny organised a Xmas special @ The George near the Angel and then I think started running Thursday's @ The Spread Eagle(Terry Jones) in Shoredich and doing his Soul Mission bit with Sean. Haven't read all this thread but seem to remember Ken was in attendance most week's. Thank's for starting the thread brought back some happy memories. P.S. Why isn't Danny"The mayor of Cornwall"Everard on 'ere?

A Carl Hall Question
Sorry Tony can't help with any info but, I would like to know if it's the same Carl Hall singing background vocal's on MAW feat' Stephanie Mills "Latin Lover''? If so it must have been one of his last recordings as it was released in 2001. Thought I'd ask your good self because you're so qualified I mean it baby Cheers Paul Woosnam

Nice one Derek, never seem to hear anyone metioning this 'nighter these day's. If I remember correctly (which isn't alway's!) it was on around bank holiday weekend's and was run by Martin Christie (MJC). A good "newie's" 'nighter with the like's of Richard Searling, Pat Brady and Soul Sam on. It was also the first venue I saw (heard?) Dave Withers DJ. Happy day's!!! Cheers Paul Woosnam

Good call Garethx The Music Maker's were an embryonic MFSB. Vince Montana Bobby Eli Ron Baker Earl Young Norman Harris They were also responsible ('though not credited) for creating "The Horse"-Cliff Nobles. As for "United" being better than The Intruders? The Producers/voices, Inc
Simon, the "Soul Harmony Singles" book list's The Producers 45 together with Kenny Gamble and the Floaters/Romeos 45's. Only mention's Kenny Gamble as vocalist with group member's Thom Bell or Leon Huff (piano) Winnie Wilford (bass) Roland Chambers (guitar) Karl Chambers (drums) So I'd guess it's them. Cheer's Paul Woosnam
