  1. Hi Paul, Althuogh I've not seen this particular LP I would imagine it's a bootleg. There were a lot of dodgy comps from the 70's/80's made for the demand of the largely Surinamese deep soul scene in Holland. Some 45's were booted as well. Hans Diepstraaten Knows a lot more than me about all this. Cheers Paul Woosnam
  2. So what label was the indie release?
  3. Your memory serves you correctly,'jctom', but he only cast his spell for a year ' 76-' 77... theres brief Cheers Paco

  5. Its from 1973 Ken, simply called "The Spinners" or "The Detroit Spinners" if its a Euro' release. Recorded at Sigma sound with the usual Philly gang, Vince Montana, Ronnie Baker, Earl Young, Bobby Eli, Larry Washington etc etc produced and arranged by Thom Bell. Also contains the hit "Ghetto Child". As for value, collecting wise ain't got a clue, artistically and soulfully its priceless!! Cheers Paco
  6. Wulfie, as far as I know it was never bootleged, did get a UK release tho'. My copy is '75 Cheers Paul
  7. G'day Sunnysoul, I can remember Dave Evison playing Valentino at Wigan Saterday nights 79/80. Also remember Dave Godin raving about it in B&S seem to think he claimed it was the first gay record.Think that acolade must go to South Shore Commision "Free Man" myself, tho" must admit didn"t know it at the time. Always danced to Valentino, got a nice US 45 with the lyrics printed on the (red) sleeve, cheers Ken, great record I reckon. Cheers Paul
