Hi jinx74 I've never seen a promo of "Accept Me As I am" stereo/mono (tho I'd like one ) The stock/red label I have is styrene, as is the white "Operator..........." promo wheras my "Shy Guy" stock is vinyl (Ok I know its another label but...) is your 'Accept Me As I Am" promo vinyl ? Does this make the white promo of "Operator. Operator ! " a re-press ???!!!

  11. Hi People I know the Johnny Baker "Shy Guy" threads been done (thanks sunnysoul) but I wanna know how do you tell a real "Operator, Operator" from the re-press ? According to an article I read by Tim Brown it was re-pressed to satisfy UK demand back in the day when it was in demand on the northern scene. Of course the flipside "Accept Me As I Am" is classic deep soul too Where do the white promo copies that only feature "Operator, Operator !" fit in ? Thanks in advance Cheers Paul

We used to joke that this was the worlds first Jungle/Drum 'n'Bass record Love it meself unfortunately dropped my copy (Scepter) on our laminate floor the other day and cracked it(bloody styrene) Cheers Paul PS Don't know if you'd class it as 'northern" but I think "Slaves" (Scepter) is a darn good tune, flip to "April Fools"

  14. I saw a box of 200 demos here in Amsterdam a couple of years ago they were a part of a haul of about 60,000 Philly promos the best part of which ended up in Blighty. All 100% originals the Lou Rawls was vinyl Cheers Paul

  24. Far as I know the Moment Of Truth track is the same on both labels Used to have a nice promo LP on Salsoul, think I've still got a UK Pye 45 The Truth LP on Devaki is called "Coming Home" DKH 4401 Can't help on the missing numbers tho I'll do some investigating Cheers Paul
