I'm waiting til Wigan's Ovation hits treble figures
-
I saw that and for a very reasonable price . Anyone I know who hears this falls in love with it , what emotion she puts into it but then judging by the hard life she had she was sure singing it for real . I always play this as an ender when I'm djing

What about this ? What a tune

Article: Rugby and I ain't talking balls - Allnighter Lookback
Slim Jim replied to spot's topic in Front Page News & Articles
Rugby is a great all-nigher the only one that inspires me to travel over from Ireland . Last weeks 12th Ann was probably the best I've been at . Long may she keep on . -
A Northern Soul - BBC Radio 4 Drama Wed 18th Feb 2015
Slim Jim commented on Mike's article in News Archives
Always settled it with a dance off -
Edwin Starr - Agent Double O Soul - Tamla Motown Frankie Valli -The Night - Tamla Motown . Bought both for a quid each on the same day when I was 16 and life would never be the same again , the intro's just sent shivers down my spine and I knew I'd discovered a type of music that was unlike anything I'd ever heard before .

I think some people have just become lazy when it comes to tracking down and buying records at both ends of the scale . Nowday's you can Google a record and buy it in a few minutes . It seems just as incredible to me that someone would pay hundreds for a bootleg as it does that someone would pay ten times the price of a tune on one of J Manships auctions . With a bit of time and patience decent records can still be found at decent prices , and I'm sure I'm like many here in that I enjoy the chase . When it comes to the price of these boots an old saying springs to mind - A fool and his money are easily parted . And who are you gonna impress anyway ? Those that know no better don't really care . And those who know ...... KNOW .

I've cleared the floor on a few occasions with Summer in the Parks - East Coast Connection . Not really sure why caus if I was on the floor I'd be jumping around like a mad man . Still I like it and I'm happy , I'm on the other side of the decks blowing my imaginary whistle ....... there goes Kool and the Gang check them out ya'alllllll !!!

Have to agree . And every soul documentary has to mention ......... Hey ! Its the worlds rarest record . If it wasn't for the notoriety it would never be played .

Every house in the country should have at least one pair of shiny brogues . Any political party who made this policy would easily be voted into Parliament .

Sounds like a wineo busking for some drink money

The reality is the majority want to hear the same old tunes that have filled the dance floors a thousand times , boring I know but its almost like some people want a predictable sound track for a night out . Personally I get more excited at hearing one new track or something I don't know over any amount of oldies . Same with dancing I'll stay on the floor for something I don't know as long as it has the beat . Keep on with what you are doing Ady , I'm still amazed at some of the new gems that pop up .

For me its all about if its got soul and feeling . I'm not a big R&B fan as some people seem to overplay it , a couple of tracks is fine but not a full set . I've heard some brilliant R&B tracks but when people start playing what to all intents and purposes is rock and roll and try to pass it off as R&B/Soul that turns me off. T There is some shit being played passed off as R&B .

Living rooms were invented so the masses could learn to dance in the comfort of their own homes .

Saw him in Belfast last Friday night - what a show . This is a truly humble guy who just seems overjoyed to be on the stage with people loving him , he seemed to enjoy himself as much as the crowd . He jumped off the stage into the crowd at the end and did a lap of honour with everyone hugging him . Charles is the man !

That's brilliant I actually picked up some great tunes in his US original's packs back in the 80's , 100 records for £100 mostly all pretty decent with the odd dud thrown in from the legend that is Richard Domar . His lists were amazing - about the size of a Yellow Pages it must have taken him weeks to type it up , it certainly took me weeks to read it . The Diplomats - Cards on the Table on Arock was one of the many decent tunes that slipped into his bargain basement packs though I was a little bemused when I ordered 50 different US originals for £50 and got 8 yes 8 copies of Dobie Grey -Out on the Floor .... he must have had a few spares of that one I'm guessing . They were all stamped originals though so i gave them to my mates for Xmas presents .

Agent Double O Soul by Edwin Starr . As a 16 year old mod brought up on good music this took things to a higher plain ..... Within weeks I was collecting rare soul and within a few years the mohair suits were replaced with polo shirts and baggy flares . I'll never forget that bass line and intro ...... so cool

Jim & Trisha's Wedding and the Inuagural Allnighter
Slim Jim commented on Dave Rimmer's article in Event News
Great write up Dave very humorous . The wedding night DJ line up was fantastic with some great tunes being spun . I was a bit subdued due to a torn muscle in my shoulder , no dancing and no beer for me a disastrous combination for a wedding ! So there I sat tapping my toes drinking tea and eating wedding cake Jim and Trish have now set the standard , I wonder who will be the next Irish soulies to tie the knot and have an all nighter -
Instrumentals : Still Collecting Them In 2011
Slim Jim replied to 45cellar's topic in Look At Your Box
I love the odd instrumental in the middle of a set , something like The Brothers - Are You Ready For this always fills the floor . Bought Standing And Waiting On Love - Salsoul Orchestra last week , it should fit perfectly in a modern set . Great tune and cheap as chips !!! -
I work with a guy who wears rather colourful tank tops and rather fetching bell bottoms as well as shirts with collars that would put your eye out . The worrying thing is he does not appear to be into Northern Soul or anything else much for that matter
