  1. Ahh, Colemans! Must have been the first venue for so many around these parts. Didn't they sell watered down cider or something? You'd serve your apprenticeship there then move on to the Brit with the big boys.
  2. Interestingly, the people at the very forefront of the Northern Soul scene at that time, chose to play it. I wonder what their thoughts were then and now.
  3. It's rubbish pop. You should send me that copy and I will dispose of it for you
  4. "Blue eyed soul" on a boot! I can see a lynch mob gathering as we speak
  5. Interesting statement my friend. I suppose it comes down to how and possibly when one embraced the scene. Compared to many, such as yourself, I suppose I only ever touched upon it. Although it was my life at the time, circumstances prevented me from becoming involved as much as some.
  6. If you want to dance, get on that dance floor and just go for it! I'm sure most people wouldn't bat an eyelid.
  7. Once again, I agree entirely. I would sooner somebody have the pleasure of my records than to think they'll end up in a quarry somewhere surrounded by tesco bags and nappies, (a bit like me on my stag night )
  8. I don't know you mate, but your plight is deeply moving. I propose to donate all proceeds from the sale of my Del Capris Grapevine picture sleeve towards a bottle of Jacobs Creek for you.
  9. Not suggesting that your records are as bad as mine by any means
  10. Well the Chinese are known for copying everything (phones, ipods), so there'll be more boots and carvers than ever
  11. Perhaps, when we're gone, he can share a skip with my lad to dump them in !
  12. I don't think it's so much about losing money. I think you just get to different points in life where you stop and assess things. Some of us haven't bought a record in years, and have almost no intention of playing what we have. The need to keep them diminishes. Much like the photos in the loft, they can all be put on a CD etc.
  13. That's EXACTLY how I'm thinking. I asked my son if he'd want my records and he just laughed at me. I'm not sure he'd know how to play them anyway. Got visions of him forcing one into a CD drive!
  14. Got a load of Jazz Funk 12in singles and albums too. Does anyone know if there's a market for these?
  15. I have a box of second issues and boots. Nothing of any great value, but great tunes nonetheless. I have been toying with the idea of selling them off. Is now the time to sell? Surely the value will just go down down down until they are worthless. Is councilling available if I get rid?
  16. I would just love to see a room full of blokes doing the "Shitshaker"
  17. In no particular order: Love Love Love - Bobby Hebb Out On The Floor - Dobie Gray Just A Little Misunderstanding - Contours Wanting You - April Stevens Don't Make Me Wait - Bunny Sigler Off the top of my head. Could be many variations.
  18. I hope the youngsters don't come on this web site too much. They'll be brainwashed into thinking the Soul scene is just one big argument. Starting to think that way myself.
  19. Even more intriguing now!
  20. Perhaps I'm too simplistic. I'd like to walk away from a well supported Northern Night thinking "Enjoyed hearing some of my favourite records, along with some interesting stuff I've never heard before". Shouldn't all "top" DJ's be aiming to do this?
  21. I feel the need to echo this post. What is going on?
