  1. I've had it many many years now.
  2. Yeah, I've seen an original, but why the blank pressing?
  3. I've always been intrigued by a record I picked up many years ago. Little Eddie Taylor, I Had A Good Time, on a blank. I've since seen it listed for sale, also on a blank. It's obviously not an original. Anybody have any info?
  4. My wife suggested "Ho Happy Day" for mine. What could she mean?
  5. Definately better than that other one that never got played . . .
  6. Here's a slight twist on the subject. Angie Stone using the O Jays loop on Wish I didn't Miss You. Does that count?
  7. I too watched it several times. On the odd occasion I had the sound on too!
  8. You beat me to it Rotherham Soul, must have been typing at the same time .
  9. And Curtis Mayfield's Move On Up turned up on something in recent years . . .
  10. There's the famous Fatboy Slim one of course, Sliced Tomatoes on Rockafeller Skank. I'm led to believe that the Sliced Tomatoes track was sampled from Ray Charles' I Don't Need No Doctor, but I'm unsure of this.
  11. If you were in your teens or early twenties, would you want to get involved in a scene full of grumpy 50-somethings moaning about who plays what and how? (I'd probably include myself in that description by the way)
  12. You make a very good point. Perhaps that's the key to a good night, getting the right balance of DJ's. If you're listening to stuff that just isn't your bag, at least you know in an hour or less, someone should be playing something different. I think it's hard to ask a DJ to play a good balance of stuff, as everyone's opinions/tastes are different.
  13. Totally agree, love it
  14. Lots of info, thanks to all.
  15. Ah, makes sense now. Always assumed mine was a boot. Any defining features to the original?
  16. Second go at this, something odd happened first go . . . I stumbled upon an ebay auction for She'll Come Running Back on a Blue and Yellow FIP label. It was listed as an original. I was under the impression that was a 2nd issue at most. Anyone shed any light? Can't seem to find the listing now.
  17. Stone him, a non believer!!
  18. I remember going to an Alldayer at Nottm Palais in the early eighties. The place was dead. I thought that was it for Northern Soul. But it kept going somehow. The jazz funk scene of that era died out too, or changed at least into a Dance scene taking in all sorts of styles. Question is, how did we get into Northern? By just turning up at a Soul night? Brothers and sisters? Or by hearing elsewhere?
  19. I like that Soulfinger. Feeding their sub-concious minds with Northern while they think they're learning. Now that is clever teaching!
  20. In answer to your first question, nowhere - in this thread . . .
  21. Really interesting views here. With the greatest respect to everyone, It seems to me that the scene has got more clique, and more up itself than ever. That will never attract newcomers. When I first discovered the scene is seemed very welcoming, and easy going. There's still good people about, many on this site. But too many "Godfathers" now trying to dictate what you can and can't do. I wonder what happens to all those silly priced records when the scene starts(?) to wither.
  22. Watched the now famous documentary of Wigan Casino whenever it was in the seventies, then went out and bought Rain With Charity Brown, Out Of My Mind. Probably from Kev Thomas' shop in Nottingham
