  1. I don't think there's any other music scene/genre that is debated about so much by it's followers
  2. What was the point that needed to be made?
  3. Thanks for that
  4. Replying to this to put it back to the top of the list. I'm intrigued myself. Also, the very last track anyone?
  5. Nothing can actually be underground in this age we live in. When you think about it, it was a lack of various things that made the scene great. Limited access to records, limited access to hearing records, limited amount of venues, even a lack of transport. The internet has put paid to that, and to a certain extent the scene has embraced it - you tube, facebook, soul source(!). Just my thoughts.
  6. What was the fall out? Go on, tell us.
  7. Six weeks it's been bugging me!! And it took about two minutes on here. Thank you so much. Just checked it out on youtube. Someone mentions the Del Larks - exactly what it reminds me of.
  8. Can anyone tell me what this record is? It's driving me mad. The clip is short and the quality poor, but I'm sure someone will make it out. Thanks. 20170616_215206[2].mp3
  9. Top notch for me!
  10. I was amazed at how many people just talked ALL the way through the set. This made the experience near the back, where the volume was poor anyway, quite unenjoyable. One girl stood singing all the words, but never looked at the stage once!
  11. A nice tune, but I always think the lyrics are a) a bit cheesy, and b) don't fit very well. Is it just me?
  12. I still like the "willy waving" theory though
  13. You argue your point very well sir
  14. And I'm possibly one of those 10,000 viewers. But if you left your copy on the table in a pub, 99 folk out of 100 might ask who's is this? The hundreth person will take it for himself. Would you blame yourself for leaving it out?
  15. I get where you are coming from, but if you stick something on youtube, you are giving it to the world.
  16. Here's what I don't get . . . If original vinyl is so sacred, (and I am not saying it isn't), why do owners of it stick it on the internet, so that people such as myself can have it as an mp3 in seconds?
  17. I have to say that this is the first event of this kind, that I have heard of in Nottingham, for some time. Certainly in a central location. Perhaps they're just exploiting a gap in the market.
  18. I think if young people are to get into Northern Soul, all formats will be used. What young person could build up a collection of classic vinyl from nothing now? Just my humble opinion.
  19. Tarts? Do tell. No, seriously, interested to know where this is.
  20. I, probably like many, have had exactly the same thing, as well as the "watching other stuff" bit. Crazy thing is, you can't give negative feedback to a buyer. How mad is that?!!!
  21. Interesting bit about the Soul Mags of the 70's. I often tried to recall the name of the one we used to pick up in Rob Smith's shop. Ironically, it seems that it was called Soul Source. Anyone still got any?
  22. I always found Sad Girl rather . . . sad.
  23. I will never call Tony Blackburn again. Really enjoyed what I've heard of both days' broadcasts.
