  1. Well honestly thought that was gonna go for a lot, lot more... £12,913!? Really thought it would be 18K at least
  2. I was told Butch and Keb got both their copies UK with but not completely sure?
  3. As a young DJ of 16 I was told by Hippo at Soulfusion to "Play to the floor and always fade in, to not give 'em time to get off the floor" and with that all my sets seem to go well

  5. Must agree with you there on the best are those who have the maturity to combine different elements from dances styles from all eras, doesn't get much better and a bit of mecca shuffling can look great
  6. I agree that yes there are some shockers, but surely the truly great dancers these days are part of what make the scene special???
  7. Whilst watching Britain's Got Talent this evening (Not out of choice I must say, it was just the better choice out of that or Eastenders) I was watching some of the street dance and I thought to myself 'to be honest anyone with enough training could do that.' Whereas, most weekends most of us go out and see some wonderful dancers who have taken years to learn and perfect their dancing. I find that the way we dance is a way that can't be taught, our dancing is a way of life like our music. There truly are some wonderful dancers and for me there is no comparison between a load of jumped up teenagers doing the robot and a true soul-boy dancing to Sandi Sheldon, dancing in time, singing all the words and doing his acro in all the right places. Although most popular modern dance styles like Northern Soul dancing come from traditional jazz dance do we offer the best in style and actual 'talent'?
  8. For Sale! Pat Lewis - Warning - Solid Hit 105 - EX £40 + P&P Wonderful Moody Upbeat Detroit Northern - A MUST FOR EVERY COLLECTION! PM me if interested - Thanks - KTF!
  9. Maybe some can enlighten me on my copy then, see I have what I considered to be a boot, the person who I got it off said they bought it as an original in the 80's but his record collector friends queried its original-ness and he was never sure and sold it as a boot to me, however would be interested just to clarify so: It's styrene, the matrix number reads V0-002-A JJ MR ∆102402 Is it a stone-cold pressed in Wigan on the night boot, or is it one of these 70's Los Angeles Re-presses (or hopefully a long lost original pressing that's worth a few grand! )

  16. Seen as I am a young'un not really got many nighters behind me but, Butch is just phenomenal every-time I see him Ted Massey always puts me in NS heaven, Dave Rimmer always stands out for me, Ady Pountain just divine sets!!! Umm my 'best' sets so far have been: a guy who I didn't know called Rob Gray at Rugby, just blew my socks - Gwen Davis and Betty Lloyd are two spins that spring to mind and Butch at Blackburn NS Film All-Dayer playing all the anthems was euphoric for me
  17. What bout 'Nordic Nite Life' thought this because Nordic is a native of Scandinavia and Nite Life is the label that released the Northern Soul classic The Jades — I'm Where It's At
  18. Best - First time I played at a nighter, remember playing The Vel-Vets - I Got To Find Me Somebody and watched the dancefloor floor ram, got one of the most euphoric feelings in the world! Bizarre - DJing in London: Student Girl: Have you got the Train Song? Me: Do you mean Don Thomas - Come On Train? Student Girl: No it's like a woman singing Me: What does it go like? Student Girl: It goes something like 'Standing at the station, waiting for a number 8 train, it's raining it's pouring, hope it ain't a late train, la la la la la la la...' Me: Worse - Being asked to play 'Rubin - Youve Been Away' telling them I didn't have a copy, then being asked to play it off their comp CD from their car and give a shout out to them...
  19. Ahhh okay - thank you, so it doesn't exist!
  20. Afternoon Soulies, Over the last 6 months I have started the collecting the Grapevine label and am doing quite well. I am after GRP 137 but can't find out what the title or artist is - I was told it was Sidras Theme but I didn't think Grapevine had released it? Can anyone help me out? Thanks & KTF!
  21. Well I can't stand The Greater Experience - Don't Forget To Remember its bloody awful, Della Reese - Clock With No Hands just all round shite, The Carstairs - It Really Hurts Me Girl its a disco record, Wayne Gibson - Under My Thumb sounds like fairground music and Shakers - One Wonderful Moment just don't like and don't get it at all! Personal opinion, sure a lot of you would disagree!
  22. Hammie - DORIS TROY IS SUCH A TUNE!!!
  23. Ohhh got to be, Rita & The Tiaras - Gone With The Wind First time I heard it, I found it so dark yet beautiful and I was hooked KTF
  24. Oh just thought, I have got so many copies of Rita & The Tiaras on different labels you wouldn't believe it: Dore (2005 issue), Joeboy, 3 on Destiny but the one I play out is the 2009 vinyl release from from those wonderful people at Kent Records, as it has the full three verses not the two and is a stero mix so therefore I think making that copy an OVO anyone else agree?
