Updated With Additions - Mostly Cheapies
Ian Williams replied to Ian Williams's topic in Record Sales
NOW UPDATED AS ABOVE -
'Russ Vickers' Hope you are well, missing friends out here & the scene....................AF is one of those records that will alway's remind me of the 100 Club class record. Russ "Lonely Girl" - Annabelle Fox Best place to hear it in the world - 100 Club, the song and the orchestra backing bounces round the room like a bouncy orchestra thing and it epitomises the 1995 era with this 45 and Mr Soul. Absolute pride of place in my modest collection along with Marva Josie "Don't" I'm off to play it NOW....... Ian Williams

Sebastian' Definitely one of his trickier 45s to find. Have been selling for £15-£25 lately on eBay. Available on both styrene and vinyl, vinyl copies should be more desirable. Fantastic two-part tune! I always thought this 45 was at least a ton plus cos of the funk links.....? Couldn't find anything via popsike with recent auction results, is it really so cheap? You can mix it into "Tighten Up" by Archie Bell and then back out again if you are really clever. Was Tighten Up his inspiration on this one?

I've got my eye on a few things and am thinking of selling these 45's. Annabelle Fox "Lonely Girl" SATIN Rhonda Davis "Can You Remember" DUKE Lee Dorsey "Four Corners" Could you great guys and girls help me out with values and what I could/should ask for them Any help greatly appreciated Regards Ian Williams

'Funky Lady' Oct 30 2005, 09:57 PM' Not sure if PORK PIE hats are northern soul fashion, but I have seen the odd guy wearing one at weekenders, quite like them, why don't more people wear them? Saw some for sale in a Ska clothes shop the other week. I was at a soul night down wess country waaaay and one of the DJ's had a porkie on........it didn't affect play tho..........he played some great sounds........ see you at a northern welsh weekender some time........
-
what record have you waited longest for?? October 1987 til September 2003 - 16 years "Little Walter and The Admirations" Man O Man.......... Heard at the 100 club and secured a while later........ Still my wifes all time favourite tune......reminds her of when we were kids and new to the scene..
-
'Richard Bergman' Oct 6 2005, 01:15 ANNABELLE FOX - LONELY GIRL - SATIN - (100 CLUB) I quite agree with this one............which is why I got a copy a while back........my pride and joy................... I'd also add George Pep "The Feeling Is Real" 100 Club.........Butch claimed it was George Bampton Little Walter and The Admirations "Man O Man" which was always played straight after the above and was (amoungst other cover up names) known to me as Cynthia Davis.........

taylormadesoul' Oct 4 2005, 04:56 PM' after sorting through many boxes of LPs i thought it would be good idea to compile a set usin LPs only..............both 60s - 70s Great idea...........only time I saw this was at Cheltenham about a month ago when modern Meg played 18 of her 20 tunes off LP and it was so refreshing to hear new sounds that were probably known to a few but new to me. Why restrict what you like or might like to 45's only.............theres so much good stuff but then this theme has probably been done before anyway........... Fave LP track right now "Don't Bring Back Memories" 4 Tops (but you need to speed it up a bit to get the sound right............

-
I think it was "Teardrops"...........by Demures.....lovely crossover sound.....anyone know this?. Also heard The Delegates Of Soul "I'll Come Running Back" ....think it was on Lookup or something....../ What is price and availability like please?? Regards Ian
-
Can someone confirm what he played..........and what the freebie 45 was....? I spent the night at a mates 50th birthday listening to Jazz........which was nice...
-
...............but the thing is when you are ONLY buying cheap 45's its perhaps hard for your other half to believe you, particuarly when I'm always saying how much some of the records I used to have are now......Constellations "I Dont Know About You" for example. (Sold for £20.......now a little more...) Most of the time the stuff I buy from e bay costs as much in postage as the record itself but its so easy to do if you watch the records ending soon section, click and buy on a lunchtime maybe, but then it arrives from the states and you know it was $7 plus postage but could be £400 in your other halfs mind.......... Then again when you buy 70 records a week its does add up
-
Thanks to y'all for the offers and I've now got one.....Cheers
-
Its "You Live Only Once" and I think its on solid foundation. Modern soul at its best but I won't big it up too much cos you'll want even more for it ............anyone got a copy to sell please PM me...thanks Regards Ian Williams Getting Together Soul Nights On the Il Bordello Boat - in Bristol Oct 6th Nov 26th Dec 17th Check out www.fridayclubsite.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk

............and I saw N 5OUL on a new red mini cooper on my way to Grantham using the A607 a month or so ago. .....and hasn't someone got 5OUL - I thought I saw this one at Fleetwood Weekender a few years ago......... trouble with personalised plates is that you are constantly spotted wherever you go........so theres no more London Demo's to be had in PDSA shops cos someone will always be looking over your shoulder!!!
