When I first heard about GSP, I vowed I'd quit eBay if they ever forced sellers to use it. I never have, never will. My packing often gets compliments, and the thought of someone in a Pitney Bowes office re-packaging my rare vinyl would give me nightmares.

This is a correction to my previous posting that displayed an incorrect date in the title, which I am unable to edit. The auction closes on Sunday 20 July on the USA ebay site. This is a 7" acetate with the song title "I Want To Thank You." The reverse side is blank. The item number on the USA site is 151354371037, and it should also be showing on the ebay.uk site but may have a different number. I cannot find any evidence that this tune was ever released. Included below is a sound clip that allows you to hear a substantial portion of the song. Minimum bid is $150. I found a couple 45s by Otis Redding that appear to be test pressings made in Baltimore at Recordings, Inc., and can't find any information about them anywhere... it seems like this might have featured the Upsetters backing him.. anyone have any info?

Just now flipping though my collection of Washington DC singles and found another Aladdin record not previously mentioned, #5557 by the Nighthawks (Washington, D.C. blues rock band) entitled "Keep Cool" / "Red Hot Mama." There is a date on the label of Feb. 10, 1975.

According to a Rockabilly Hall of Fame web page, Washington, D.C. rockabilly artist Billy Hancock bought (or leased?) the legendary r&b Alladin label from Leon Messner in 1974, after which he released one LP (Danny Gatton "Danny & The Fat Boys") and a handful of 45s including the Prince Geno single and also one by the Clovers before ceasing operations.

Yes it is sad. I didn't know about the handling fee on your end, and am sorry to hear about that. One more attempt to stifle commerce. I raised my shipping rate to $10.50 US on a single 45, and absorb roughly $2.00 at this end, in addition to ebay and paypal taking their bite out of the shipping money. Moreover, I am continually amazed at the number of US sellers who insist on placing full value on the parcel. To my way of thinking, an auction price is speculative until the buyer sees the item and confirms that is it "as advertised". Until then, I believe a wholesale value or cost basis is an appropriate method of valuation.
