  1. Amazing!-I`ve been playing "TODAY`S MAN" for years. One of the few 45`s which I`ve never even bothered playing the flipside. Here`s a tip for all you kids out there-play BOTH sides of your 45`s-they may surprise you...

  3. Performer, Song Writer, Producer, This guy did it all. Without him this scene wouldn`t be half of what it is today. Genius. R.I.P.

Well,if anyone`s at the HILL tomorrow night and asks me for either DRY WELL, THE SEEDS (or both) we`ll be happy to play `em. Because we`re like that. Should be another crackin` night... see you there..
  6. Oh, you`re not one of those `modern 21st century people` that get paid monthly are you? I`m an ancient druid from the north who gets paid weekly!
  7. Sharon-Again you`ve hit the nail on the head. Exactly what we were talking about last night.
  8. So THAT`S why you and Wendy hardly come to our place anymore, mate.. BUT SERIOUSLY FOLKS: Everyone`s welcome at our place-whatever type of person. Imagine if you could have a party in your front room at home and could invite a maximum 120 people! But only 50 on average turn up. That`s how we run it. Party, party ,party....Relaxed laid back atmosphere..great dance floor..friendly hosts people and atmosphere On average I lose money running Barrow Hill after paying the DJ`S-paying for the room-paying for a few drinks-paying for a taxi home. Works out like a cheap night out. Never expected to make much money, if any at all. A chance to play different across the board sounds with no rules along with stuff that people know-no pressure- we encourage all our guest dj`s to do the same. This venue will be around for a long long time...we do it because we love to do it- and for the love of it.
  9. My card was black and dark yellow. I had to reinforce it with sellotape after long to stop it falling apart....
  10. Used to attend Keele in the early nineties whenever i could-got most of the patches. Once went from Rotherham with a guy who worked for British Rail on the trains. We got off a stop too early. Then we started hitchhiking whilst "under the influence". He didn`t know where he was going either. Got stopped by the police-two suspicious characters carrying holdalls in the dead of night...After being searched we asked for a lift into the next village..and a got a police escort back to the PREVIOUS village-fascists! Arrived about ten minutes before Keele closed then made our way back to Crewe train station- down the hill that lasts forever if you`re walking....happy days though-funny as fukc....
  11. Hope you enjoyed it, Mandy? We had a great time and we`d love to see you there again....
  12. Didn`t they change the colour of the membership card? To Yellow and Black? BTW I remember having to wrap sellotape round the card to strengthen it as it was falling apart. Can`t find the card-I`m sure it`s hanging around somewhere. If I find it I`ll scan it or take a photo and post it up. Great nighter-one of the best.
  13. That`s one of the few anniversary patches I`ve never had!
  14. Agreed. But I`d say it`s MUCH better than this! Nice- with a great stomping chorus. The scooter crowd should like it along with "And I Say To Myself"
  15. Nice-but the flip`s better-It`s on our 3rd Anniversary CD! "We`re So Satisfied"

No- these are genuine releases. When You Love Someone/I Need Your Love WAS booted but it was white with blue lettering and NO ship logo with a raised ridge on the label. When You Love Someone/All Of My Life on Bay Sound was a genuine release. Same with the others. But the original release of I Need Your Love (on Bay Sound and the earlier rarer Caravelle for that matter) the flip was Love Is The Thing. Hope this helps.

  19. Last time I heard this it was spun by Soul Sam (Martin Barnfather) in the small room at the Suncastle, Skegness!! I was the only one dancing!! Also played THE OUT OF SIGHTS-For The Rest Of My Life.
  20. Was this the one that was run by OKEH Soul Promotions? If so I always wondered how they got the rights to use the name-and then I thought who gives a shiny sh*te... Got most of the anny patches.. Good memories-talking each other`s head off for 4 hours at a time in the cafe downstairs..
  21. Ditto. And have I some stories to tell about Matchy Clowery...great days..
