I put the two sheets of glass theory to the test once or twice. Also put the 45s under a heavy weight for several(!) months. These methods are not exactly perfect however and have not removed the bowled-ness totally. Just suffiicient to allow the tone arm to stay on the record! These so called 'compression techniques' unfortunately also compress the groove so the sound quality suffers slightly...I'd be interested to see how you go on with this. Please keep us posted!
That`s right pal. But the answer to the guy`s question is yes-both Miss Madeline AND The Young Folk`s "Lonely Girl" ARE the same cut..Isn`t this collecting lark wonderful and informative...
CHUCK CONLON-Won`t You Say Yes To Me, Girl -MARLIN £40
MARSHALL and THE CHI-LITES-Love Bandit/Pretty Girl-DARAN £50 (Great double sider)
CRAIG CARR-What`s Your Game-DOT (Value?-could be anything-not seen another copy anywhere..)
Yeah Gray-The Alfie Davison acetate`s gone for £130. The Jimmy Soul Clark Black Magic test press went for £100.
Interesting also to see what the Del-Larks went for-£3,648! Thought it was worth around £3K at the most as more copies seem to be turning up lately...
Thanks you two-the link you put in Facebook didn`t seem to work but this does.
Maybe the site was down at the time. Great article. And great news concerning our old friends Melvin and Bryan.
You certainly did Kenneth!
In a way you were right here as well when you said (except for the giving up part..)
"My answer its 6ts that sound seventies or is that seventies that sound sixties, no i give up !!"
"CROSSOVER Late 60`s early 70`s mellow soulful mid-tempo, pre-disco era soul, dance 45"*
So it`s soul which crosses over eras but the basic sound and feel are the same.
So now maybe you`re thinking can you have R&B crossover? Late fifties to Early sixties?? Who knows? Maybe.
*Many thanks to John Manship for this definition

Well done Steve--That`s a great mixture of...(If i can name `em all...) When Saturday Comes, Kes, The Full Monty, Brassed Off, Billy Elliot..any more? Phew!
Never heard that said before- but some so-called schools of thought claim that the life changing phenomenon otherwise known as Northern Soul died in either 1972, 1973, 1974 or 1975....
The lovely Jumping Joan and her top bloke Tony introduced me to it when they were kind enough to let me stay at their home many years ago. Had some great, great, fun times-thanks for that..Loved this record (both sides) first time I heard it.. Got one for thirty five quid shortly afterwards when it was relatively unknown..
The missus and I were there also (as you know) Although sad, it was a most unusual heartwarming funeral. Dave would have approved. And "Working Class Hero" was apt, don`t you think?
That`ll be the Anvil in Sheffield-which was one of the few council owned cinemas in the country at the time- and yes-he was the manager. He let me in for free a few times. Like myself he had a great love of the cinema-Gone With The Wind was (i think) his favourite.
