  1. As we always suspected. With the change of ownership, the chalets being renovated and Brittania wisely realising it was (financially) a good idea it was only a matter of time before we were back at Prestatyn for the Weekenders! Well done John and Fish for getting this show back on the road..
  2. As we all suspected. It's back! Just booked!
  3. 2p platforn ticket? Hiding in bog. Avoiding conductor. But not 2p in 1990?
  4. Great doublesider. Got one but it's not for sale. If I see another one I'll tip you the wink..Good luck with your search..
  5. I've got the Sheila Ferguson W/D (And In Return) but not seen the 3 Degrees in a long time. Had one but sold it at Canklow many moons ago..Good luck with your search though-you'll find one soon...
  6. 1990 onwards. Yeah, I missed a few but I was pretty much a regular. They say if you can't remember much you must've had a bloody good time and by everyone else's accounts I did. And Chalky's right-and what a crack it was! Once went to the Keele niter with a guy who used to work for British Rail so he'd got free travel. As he was allowed a guest, we both got free rail travel, got off at the wrong stop and tried hitch-hiking the rest of the way. We were picked up by the old bill of course, who searched our bags and then proceeded to drop us off back at the place when we had come from!. We finally arrived at Keele as they were chucking out so we decided to walk straght down the hill to Crewe Station! Got transport after that..
  7. I've used both these methods before (the first recommended to me by Snowy) but with one difference. A good (and better imo) alternative to the lint free cloth use a toothbrush! Believe me these are great and are much softer than the vinyl/styrene! Follow the groove round (obviously avoiding the label) turning the 45 as you go..
  8. Soulontop. Regarding getting the brown stuff from the very bottom of the groove, Years ago I used to use ORIGINAL Pledge (not the other 'flavoured' varieties), never used Mr Sheen. And running it through resulting in a big brown ball of wax on the end of your stylus! However, is today's original Pledge exactly the same as it used to be? Hmm...
  9. Sorry, only done that trip from L.A. to Vegas by coach! And only for the day.
  10. 1987 i think Chalk.. Not by any means the first allnighter I ever attended (that was over twelve years earlier) but Tony's was definitely one of my favourites..Great memories..
  11. Rest in peace. Will be sorely missed.
  12. 'It was always the 'window to watch' Bassoon roll....
  13. This was distributed by Atlantic Records so it should have a "AT" marking in the deadwax. Also should indicate it's a promo on the label. As the original is pretty common (lots of copies around) and only worth around a tenner it makes you wonder why they bothered bootlegging this at all!
  14. Agreed. Redemption was one of the successes of this year's Weekender and needs a bigger room. Some nice crossover also being spun in the Queen Vic. Spent some quality time in all areas though. And we kinda miss the House Of Soul and the R&B room....But, all in all another Weekender to remember. Thanks to everyone involved over the last ten years. We are Prestatyn veterans, attend every March and needless to say we have already booked for next year..
  15. Here's hoping that we're on again for next March. The deposit was on last Monday morning. Can't wait!
  16. I'll go and have a gander Dave..
  17. Yes, you're right. It was an early episode of the Sopranos if I remember correctly. The first season?
  18. Bought loads in Rotherham, across the road from the tailors, £5 for a random pack of 10. Easily worth it with the occasional hard gem. Most notable find: JACK MONTGOMERY-DON'T TURN YOUR BACK ON ME-BARRACUDA
  19. Seem to remember it (Elusive) was quite popular at Cleethorpes..
  20. Yes, Steve. Shame about Annesley-As you know, we had some great nights there (and a great alldayer) and some great memories. A lot of other great venues have gone the same way due to one reason or another. Memories are everything. Keep remembering the venues and they will never really die...
  21. Another of my fave ever niters. Used to come up in the van sometimes with Crofty and Adrian...The other times under my own steam. Great days. Thanks for putting up the flyers..
  22. Hi again Dave. Remember talking to you when you were writing this book in the late nineties. How time flies...
  23. Saw Melvin D appear here in 2005. Sorry about the bad news. But (as Mandy says) places like this are becoming a thing of the past due to the smoking ban and high drinks prices. Villages need places like this though because it brings the local community together-it's somewhere for the locals to meet. Otherwise you'll get a town full of strangers where hardly anyone knows each other. Who wants that?
  24. Yes, Chalky. And not bad. As we recall, there were two editions totally dedicated to bootlegs/reissues issued by JM and even had the bootlegs priced up. I gave away the first but kept the 2nd edition..
