  1. I buy from all sources Dave, hunting for something I am after or takes my fancy. The preferred method is face to face, record player to play them on and then friendly negotiation. That perfect scenario seldom presents itself, so its through the mix to obtain things I can. I don't do label runs anymore, mainly for space and volume reasons, besides cost. So have a few small boxes of things I love.

I am sure I have both under and over paid, but I do like to deal with Sellers I trust, because it makes it easier. If that trust element goes, I don't go back.

By way of example I bought a record at a recent weekender, cracked through out, held together with tape on the b side. It was listed at £ 150 whole, but up for offers cracked at £ 75. The play side, played fine. The Seller wanted an offer, I suggested he say what he would be happy with and we agreed on £ 60. That way we both felt good about the deal. I hadn't the money on me (well I had but an alnighter ahead) so took the record and paid 3 or 4 days later. The point being I have good relations with the Seller and there is trust between us. We will continue to trade again............good for both of us....

So it can still be done, but it is harder as Dealers do seem to find it harder to sell at venues (be it just the climate or EvilBay etc)..

I say use them all we can, because many do keep the flow of records coming and condition and sound can be assessed there and then "live" and "live" is almost certainly best in everything in life :-)

Yes i agree with your statement but don't forget about the old vinyl record shops they recycle a lot of records for us

These places are dying of great places to go to they got lights to see when some of us got bad eye sight!!!!

  3. I told you about another pressing and where they were likely from. I told you they had no more releases. The group membership is not known by soul and doowop collectors so I don't know membership. I was offering to try to look for a copy as a favor to you and that I might not have a copy.

Apparently you do care that "it's getting spins" though, you left that off your list of stuff you were looking to find out.

  6. Hi ,could you clarify ATB please.Does it mean a total mix of genres and era's,regardless of any history attached to the "scene".?

    Or,across a particular genre..ie: r'n'b from 50's to late 60's,different tempo's etc.?

    Kev.(representing the positive Kev's).

    hi

the atb policy does means a total mix of genres from late 5ts to present day without history or price tag

tunes.tempo's can vary a good dj do this but don.'t drop the tempo's to sharp also blend the tunes together not as i call it bangin .tunes together

you have a good idea of wot atb .

    from the diff genre

there a lot of forgotten tunes still out there & to be reactavated & in dj collections.

  9. As i'm aware the soul scene as become very splintered

there is not 1 venue where we can't get it together and have good time tonight to listen, dance & socialise.

To Funky northern,RnB northern uptempo Xover, rare northern and not forgetting good upbeat modern krap including soulful house

Not the tailor mades like Tribute.tribute to betty &smile

As i'm in my early 5ts i went to the late wigan 79/80 and funk was played along side northern anthems of the time. I also djd at the Keele allnighter modern room the last 3yrs before it finished

There are a lot of soulies out who want to go out but won't because there is to many oldies & same old same olds being played

I wish that promoters to be little bid more adventurous and give a more progessive dj a chance at there venues

It's soul music i love you love it let's get the scene Buzziing again with new tunes.?

Were in the 2nd decade of the 21st century come let's have good time don't let it Die.

    Keepin the Faith
