  1. I spoke to somebody last Year, regarding Paul Sindab, and will endeavor to glean a few more facts on my next US trip, but Paul did sound like a bit of a character! Anyhow I was reliably told that Paul used a Custom pressing plant in the NY area, that did small runs of discs, unlike many of the plants that required you to have a minimum of 100,200 or even 500 discs cut, and Mr Sindab did take advantage of this. He then gave copies to various people within the Music Biz in NY to hopefully secure deals, enabling him to have more copies cut. Now what quantities of what discs he had done is open to speculation, but hopefully someone can put a bit more Meat on the Bones of what could be an interesting story. Des
  2. I have a few Little Frankie Lee's @ £25 (Inc P & P) Des
  3. I remember watching a Richard Burton film "Bluebeard" many Years ago, not one of his best, I must say, but there was a fairly "racy" scene with the supporting Actress which made the thing watchable, late at night, anyhow it turns out to be .... Joey Heatherton, now she's a game Girl!! Des
  4. George Kirby(of "What Can I Do" fame) was a Comedian. Des
  5. I still have a few copies of the "Marsha & Delwands" at £15 (Inc P & P)
  6. I'm thinning down on a few of my doubles/overstock etc, so in this first installment are 100 Original U.S. label "60's Northern Soul" 45's at £10 each, and that INCLUDES postage!! Anyhow all the discs are in good shape, and can be returned, for any reason up until, say, the end of the Year, for a full refund. It's therefore worth taking a chance on a few things before they've gone. Also don't forget that I'll be sending out the December sales C.D. as of tomorrow, so get in touch, or read my previous thread on "Sales C.D.'s" in the Sales section for full details. 8. After being harrassed and hassled, and also now that I've been dragged, kicking and screaming, into the 21st Century, I'm now putting out Sales C.D.'s on a monthly basis, kicking off with a 60's "Northern" one for December, and in January, as well as a "Northern" C.D. there will be a "70/80's" one and an "R & B" one. The cost to you is £3 per C.D. (Inc P & P) but this money will be refunded with any record purchase. Send Cheques/Postal Orders to. Des Parker (01242)231299 46 Warden Hill Road Cheltenham Glos GL51 3AT Many thanks for looking Des
  9. I've been playing this version out, when I can, and it usually causes a bit of confusion in at least one collector, especially when they see that it's also on the "Yorktown" label as well as the Two Johnny Summers versions, and not some unreleased jobbie. Mine came from a Store in Memphis about 4/5 Years ago or so, and as it wasn't in the Manship Book the guy let me have it for $5. How this hasn't turned up, and is largely unknown baffles me. Des
  10. James Bowens And His Agent With Bill Smiths Hitch Hikers - Baby I Want You - Roosevelt Lee Badly produced, Noisy, raw, messy, but for some reason I love it.
  11. I've had 3 of these this Year (2 with Instrumental, 1 with "good" flip) and I don't consider it to be a particularly "rare" disc, just one that is in demand, hence the ever increasing price. "Fast Eddie's" was a Record store in Philadelphia, in the 60's, so these discs were sold over the counter to the public, and are now starting to resurface, in all sorts of conditions. I'm sure Chalky, and many others on this forum could recommend some quality Philly tunes equally as good as these, that wouldn't break the bank. Des
  12. I was in a Record Show in Toledo about 6 Years ago, buying some toons off a Black geezer, who was from Columbus, Ohio and start talking about Columbus Soul, and chatted about the Chandlers, Jeff Smith, Vondors, Bill Moss etc. When we asked about the Royal Esquires, he says "How the F*** do you know them, that was my group!!" I don't know who was more stunned, him or us. We met him and some of his fellow Royal Esquires over the next few days, even treated to an accapella version of the tune.
  13. Have Aretha Franklin @ £10 (Inc P & P) Des

  19. The other side of Bertha Tillman "Oh My Angel" was a reasonably big hit, especially in the Pittsburgh area, where a few dealers have even sung parts of it, for my benefit......nice! Anyhow it's one that I'd be reluctant to price too high, and hope you haven't got too much into it, financially. But, hey, the flip is still a darned good little moover! Des

  24. I Sold a Mint one on Tarpon about 4 Weeks ago for £75 and the number of People who told me it was worth double that beggared belief, am I missing something here, or is DL this Months flavour.
  25. I've always found the Big Apple pretty poor for Vinyl, shopwise. Apart from the Sound Library, the best tunes I've found have been at the flea markets, at the Weekends. There's quite a few in Manhatten, 1 of which is just along from the Sound Library, and some more are around the 20's but I can't quite remember. It's extremely hit & miss (sometimes no vinyl at all!!) However if you do find anything, there probably won't be a guide book in sight. Last Year there was a guy with a suitcase full of 70's & 80's Soul 45's on his stall, in which I found Mandrill, Donny Mann,Storm (Pi Kappa), Brothers Of Love, Gloria Scott, Wales Wallace etc etc, and all at $1 each, and a US based friend of mine found a Mint Court Davis at a Manhatten flea market a couple of Years ago, jammy bastard. Deffo worth checking out, but often more miss than hit.
