  1. According to the sleeve notes on the "Love Bandit" Album:- "In 1969, Gino employed the Three Year old backing tracks to "Like My Baby" and reworked it as "Rat Race", seemingly an observation on the turbulent changing times "Actually the reason I did that record was it was a commentary on the entertainment business and how people double cross you. They went to the Moon but what did they find? It didn't come out until the Eighties when we issued it in England."
  2. Have a few of these in stock @ £30 (Inc P & P) but not for long, I suspect. Des
  3. Don't normally download sounds, as the Kid's computer is way too slow, but this looked interesting. Many "unreleased" acetate tracks really didn't deserve a release, but I thought this was a pretty good, polished 60's number, and for the serious collectors out there, well worth a punt, or at least a listen! Thanks for that Pete Des
  4. Have one in stock @ £20 (Inc P & P) Des
  5. I have this on an old Stafford tape of Gary Rushbrooke, played as the "Casanova Two". Des
  6. Also have Album in stock @ £15 (Inc P & P) Des
  7. Like many, many things this has been chronically overlooked and taken for granted. Had a couple of these, (with a little wear) sat in the box for absolutely eons @ £10, and people kept passing 'em by, looking for a "Bill Bush" or "Gene Toones". Speaks volumes. Des
  8. I have to agree with you Martyn, to me it's a clumsy vocal performance. Somebody at "Treasure" records, however, thought they could salvage something from the backing track!
  9. An early incarnation of the Magnificent Men, the "Del Chords" recorded the vocal to what we know as "Soul Step", but it never made it to vinyl. For some reason the Guys at "Treasure" records needed something to put on the flip side of the release "Don't Try To Help Me" and luckily for us used the instrumental cut of the "Del Chords" track. So the "Dogs" ain't the "Dogs" if you know what I mean!?! Anyway it's an interesting piece of Soul/Northern Soul history, but as a quality unreleased track, I'll reserve my judgement. Des
  10. Have a few of these in stock, unplayed @ £30 (Inc P & P) Des

  12. Had a letter last Week from a U.S. colleague, regarding Phil Gaber (the guy behind this Royal Five tune, as well as the Agents-Trouble, most of Ronnie Walker's stuff, and much, much more) and I though I'd share it with you. "Des Phil Gaber's Daughter called Yesterday to tell me that Phil died on Tuesday. I can't beleive it, he seemed fine when we visited, and he called me last Week because he was excited about the Royal Five single. The funeral is Monday, at least you got to meet him and do the final Record licensing deal with him, he was a really nice guy".
  13. I can't remember the finite details, as I was told this in a bar (of course) a few Years ago, but a friend of mine had got hold of the label owner of "Saintmo" and arranged to pick up up copies of a load of "Saintmo" titles. When he arrived at the house the Guy had almost finished writing "Saintmo" on all the "Peak" issues with very few escaping the wrath of the Black Marker pen!! Des P.S. I do have clean copies of the "Saintmo" release for £25 (inc P & P)

  20. Even though I sold the disc to Johnny Weston, I could really do with a scan of both sides of the label, for a book, a friend of mine is working on. He strongly believes this to be a Philly item. There's another on the label by the "Contenders??" or is my memory completely packing up, which had an incredibly strong backing, but utterly woefull "Blue eyed" vocals, that still give me nightmares. The "Zenobia Bonner", though is pretty darned good, and not easy to find.

Utterly cool Album, and yes the version on it is a little slower than the "45" but still a really credable version. Also it's credited on the Album to Tyrone Thomas, who to my Ears doesn't sound like Little Tommy, though I'm probably completely wrong on this. Is Tyrone Thomas & Little Tommy the same Guy??
  22. I had a long chat with Killah at the Northwich All Dayer at Christmas, and I feel utterly gutted for the Guy, nobody deserves this, especially somebody as genuine as Killah. He knows who stole them, but doesn't want to involve the Police, so do we get involved (on his behalf) or respect his decision? Secondly, time is of the essence, as records get passed on, moved around etc etc, and anyone can unwittingly buy one of those stolen discs, that may have been through 3 or 4 different hands. To move forward on this, firstly we need a list of the tunes pinched, and secondly is the thief still going to Soul nights etc, as surely, if the evidence is so damning against him, he really shouldn't be welcome.
  23. The Two sides are unissued, and were apparantly mixed up with "Ethics" stuff, with "Nothings too good for my baby" coming out Stateside on an "Ethics" C.D. leading to a little confusion amongst the sharp Eyed. The Groups are Two different entities, with the "Springers" only recording a scant number of tunes. When Jamie/Guyden put out a C.D. a couple of Years ago, they had to include Instrumental & alternative takes just to pad the thing out, but there was a couple of corking unissued sides included that they later put out on a very limited, and in my view, very expensive reissue! If anyone has the C.D. and wonders why there is such a poor cover picture of a Girl in a Swimsuit by a Car, the reason for this is that one of the group has the only Group Photo, unless any of you clever lot knows different, and with $ signs in his Eyes (probably because of his awareness of the value of the tough "Wale" side) wants $10,000 for it, a little misguided, I feel. Des
  24. I've had quite a few of these, in the last Year, from this incredibly well known Country & Western superstar, and was selling them for between £10 & £20. I don't believe this to be a rare disc, judging by how many I've found in the past, and surely this hasn't been pushed up to "Auction" status, hey but what the F*** do I know! Anyhow, best I get some more, if this is going to be a "Licence to print Money" Des
  25. Did have another Disc on "Powertree", same logo etc, but a White Promotional copy by a Geezer called "Adonis", can't remember the title, but it is in Tim Brown's book. Anyhow it had a great backing from what I remember, but I'd think it fair to say that the vocal was a little Awfull. Des
