  1. Have a promo of Lovations in stock for £20 (Inc P & P) Des Parker
  2. Have this in stock for £20 (Inc P & P) Des Parker
  3. The "Eric & Vikings" Acetate was originally Guy Hennigans, whereas the Barbara Mercer Acetate came via yourself Dave, and is of more recent vintage. Des Parker
  4. Adey Pierce got the 12" Acetate off someone related to someone involved with "Sidra" (if you know what I mean) as well as at least 1 copy of the tough "Gwen Owens" on "Velgo". The Acetate has a prominent hiss throughout, and unless it's my system (I did have the acetate in my posession at one stage) it's pretty much unplayable, but it is a fantastic and historic piece of memorabilia, which I could not justify keeping, so off to E Bay it went. Unfortunately there seems to be a little confusion regarding acetates - If you own an acetate (even if it contains an unissued track) it doesn't follow that you legally own any rights to that piece of music, or does it - I think you just own "a disc", and nothing more, am I right? Des Parker
  5. I always preferred the version of "She Kissed Me" on "Fairmount", which is a tad slower. Also "Jay J. Jones - I Don't Know About You"on V-Tone uses the same backing as "She Tried To Kiss Me". There was also another "Butlers" on Parkway, but this is a White rock/pop combo, so be wary. Des Parker
  6. Have a promo of James Bounty for £22 (Inc P & P) Des Parker
  7. Also, for anyone interested have a white promo of this for £20 (inc P & P) Des Parker
  8. Md Records replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
It staggers me to think that I first heard this spun by Keb Darge at Stafford 25 Years ago, and it's been consistently played Year in Year out since then. It also came out on an album, I think entitled "West Coast Review" or something like that. Des Parker
  9. As mentioned previously, the intro for the "Go Teams - Doin It Right" is sampled from "Cindy Gibson - I'll Always Love You - General American" Des Parker
  10. The Go Team sampled "Cindy Gibson - I'll Always Love You - General American" and PAID Frank Bendinelli (producer of CG) to do so, top marks!! Des Parker P.S. Frank loves it, but there again he's more interested in Music than the value of a bit of plastic (poor deluded fool, or is he?)
  11. In reply to an earlier post, the "Four Chaps" ARE the "Fenways" doing a bit of a tongue in cheek spoof, bearing in mind that "True Lovers" was possibly intended as the "B" side, though the joke has been lost on me, for one! Des Parker
  12. NOW SOLD
  13. As someone who deals in all genres of Soul, I try and see the positive in all tunes, from all eras, but this is bad, even if we judge it as a "spoof". I cannot believe that this has ever been played in any type of Northern event and cannot believe that anyone would class this as "Northern" in any shape or form! Des Parker
  14. Very clean copy of "Gary Dean - You Can Say - Young" up for grabs at the very reasonable price of £300. Des Parker
  15. Apparantly "Four Chaps - Will You Or Won't You" is "The Fenways spoofing the British Invasion sound complete with fake accents" Des Parker
  16. Johnny Beggs & Myself picked up 5 copies for $12.50 last November, was that a fair price? Des Parker
  17. I always assumed that the Four Reputations was a tough tune, due to reversed labels and being mostly sent back to the pressing plant, then recut and put out on AMM (though not considered as good a version, by many). Please correct me on this one Des Parker
  18. Before even contemplating such a thankless task, just ask yourself whether your event is a positive thing for the scene by offering something genuinely different, or filling a gap in the Calender in your area, or is your new event a negative thing for the scene, by splitting the crowd in what is already a congested calender of events offering a very similar product! Des Parker
  19. One of the Countries best radio shows just got better, if that's at all possible!!!!!!!! Des Parker
  20. I've heard Carl/Maria Willingham play the instrumental to "Long After Tonight Is All Over" Des Parker
  21. Yet another debate that will not have a conclusion. Let's face facts, in the main, there is no general consensus and agreement on who is a good D.J. and who is a crap one, one Man's meat etc etc, just take a look at the various "who's the best D.J." threads and see the multitude of nominations. Couple this with the large percentage of Soul afficianados that want to have a go behind the decks, and you've got a bit of an uphill climb if you want to get spots. From my own very personal view as a punter, and this is a GENERAL point (not aimed at anyone) to ALL prospective new D.J.'s - Bring something "new to the table" for F***'s sake - we've already got all the big gobs and sets of expensive, overplayed "oldies" we need thanks very much All the best & good luck Des Parker
  22. King Cobras on "Sen Town" corking tune!!! played at Stafford by Keb Darge as "Little Richie" Des Parker
  23. One of his "arguments" is that Soul records just aren't "rare", probably why he left them. Des Parker
  24. Good luck with this one Dave, I shall be supporting this, of course!
  25. Dave, all those venues, bar possibly "Skegness" have a PERCIEVED bias towards the"70's" and beyond part of the market. When people who like "60's" say they want to hear something a little different, they often don't mean "70's", but different "60's" Des Parker
