A brief intro...
I've been into Soul since 1971, with the Torch being my first all-nighter. Every Weekend we'd be somewhere around the country. If I had to name a favourite place it would the The Catacombs in Wolverhampton, it had the most amazing atmosphere. In 1979 I moved to the USA, Houston Texas to be precise and I started to put together an amazing collection, ending up with around 16,000. If it was soulful I bought it. Paying 25 cents sometimes it's no wonder I'd buy anything. I moved back to the UK around 95/96 time and really just couldn't afford to keep my collection together. I sold everything and will always regret it. Not just because of monetary reasons but some I'll never replace. Soul collecting has exploded over the years with 10's of 1000's of people collecting all over the world these days it really has moved into another realm. I started collecting again and have around 250ish mostly classic's and things that have meaning to me personally.

Three up for offers. Willie Wade - When Push Comes to Shove/Come Into My World - Nite Life Promo. Label is M- Viny looks like M- but it does have two very light marks, it was only with the light shining on it that I noticed them. Plays through flawlessly. Two brilliant sides. Eddie Foster - I Never Knew/I Will Wait - IN Label is VG++ showing some very light wear. Vinyl is VG+ does have some faint makes and in the run out groves there are some marks. but does not effect playing at all. I can't remember the last time I saw this for sale. Dena Barnes - If You Ever Walk Out Of My Life/Who Am I - Inferno W/D Label is VG++ the "Who Am I " side does have two very tiny tears right on the edge of the label at the inside hole. Vinyl is VG++ some very light marks, it also has the number stamped in the runout. All time standout Classic.

Genuine Offers please. Vinyl is a strong VG++ and plays through excellently. Labels as show a little wear with WOL on both sides.

I met John through Micky Cruise (RIP) and he was certainly a character. He knew so many facts about so many things, not just soul music. I remember going to see him one morning and we started chatting about Football that led on to Non League Football and the passion that John showed for Non League Football was the same as he showed for his music. We must have chatted for hours as he had to go and make his tea as before I moved onto the records. The Soul Scene is filled with so many flamboyant people and it is always sad when we lose someone. John will be remembered by many and I'm sure there will be a smile on there faces when they think of John (RIP) David Skeen

After much arguing and debating with myself I've decided the time has come to let my Eddie Holland - Daydreamer Acetate go, I bought this off Rob Thomas about 10 years ago and it is obviously 100% genuine. This is the copy that is on YouTube that I posted myself. This was found in London by Adey along with another 10" version. There is a 7" inch cut that resides in the USA, it did belong to Bob Miner (whom I could never prize it off) whom I believed sold it to Bob Abrahamson and I believe it is now in New York somewhere. I believe the other three tracks on the Acetate are the Mike & The Modifiers - Tell All Your Friends, with the other two tracks Kim Weston - Perfect Love and Herman Griffin - You Never Met A Guy. At least I had these down as notes that I think Andy Rix posted a few years ago. I'm sure someone will put me right if it's wrong. Looking for something around £2k but I'm open to offers and I would take a percentage in trade.

John has sold quite a few bits of high end stuff for me over the years and I can honestly say that I've always been more than happy with the results. As for someone coming forward, John has over 15,000 registered users and there are a lot of anonymous armchair collectors (not only in this country) that are more than happy to pay the premium and keep it to themselves. Seen as I rarely post I'll take the time to Wish everyone a Merry Christmas or Happy holidays!!

Ebay Now Including Import Charges In Listings ?
Deepdown replied to Soulgirl85's topic in All About the SOUL
Do the UK Post Office still put a handling charge on as well with the Global Shipping Program or is it just delivered with no extra charges, because they put a £8.00 handling fee on if I'm not mistaken. I was just looking at the Johnny Caswell on eBay at the moment that is over $500+ but read the small print and I think someone may be in for a shock when they get invoiced. -

Four Coins, Mr. Percolator, I-20 Connection & Sammy Acuna
Deepdown replied to Deepdown's topic in Record Sales
I've sent a list out to the people that have contacted me, thank you!! -
The following are up for cash offers, or trades for classic oldies. The trades don't have to be one for one, I'd be happy to take a various assortment of records for one, obviously of equal value that we have agreed upon. The clips off You Tube are of the actual records on offer. Four Coins - "Maybe She's Right"/Forward Together - Lan-Co Both Label and vinyl are M- Mr. Percolator - I Can't Get Enough/Come On Back To Me - Wax-Wel (Silver Issue) A blue copy recently sold on Mr. Manship's auctions for £600+, this is a silver variation that I believe has not been seen before. The vinyl is VG and has quite a few light marks and light scratches, these are cosmetic and do not effect the play in any way, there is also a small warp that again does not effect the play and could be taken out quite easily if someone has the inclination. The label is VG+ but has a small biro mark on the "I Can't Get Enough" side. I - 20 Connection - "Dreamin"/"Give Me Another Chance" (To Love You Baby) - Thrille' Records I believe it has been mentioned in a previous thread on Soul Source with regards to a press problem with this record, but stating that the overall sound is quite strong. The vinyl is VG with very light scuffing that does not effect play, the label is VG to VG+ it does show some light wearing and has some biro on the "Give Me Another Chance" side, which in itself is a good track. Sammy (Acuna) - I Never Found A Girl/Instrumental - Sly Superb condition on both vinyl and label as near Mint as you can get.

Len Jewell - Betting On Love - Fontana Any Help Appreciated!!

I haven't seen Micky for quite some time but I have often thought and spoken about him to others over the years. He was that special kind of person that often cropped up in conversations and when he came into your thoughts it always brought a smile to your face. My heartfelt Condolences goes to his close friends and family. warmest regards David Skeen
