Mick Howard Heywood Manchester It would be fair to say that Mick and his wife Karen are two of the mainstays of the scene in the North-West today. Both regulars at LOWTON CIVIC and a host of venues all across the North-West over the years, they have become barometers of quality venues, which thankfully, includes CULCHETH and ASHTON UKRAINIAN where Mick is involved as a DJ and co-promoter. Rob Haigh Middleton via Telford Rob joined the Lowton ‘Party’ later than some but more that made up for it by embracing the Lowton vibe readily and wholeheartedly. A regular at venues across the Midlands, such as Bretby and the Lea Manor, Rob honed his love of 60’s rare soul and today collects and DJ’s with an eye (and ear) on the more ‘underplayed’ sounds our scene has to offer. Paul Shirley _ Southport via Wigan Paul is a regular and well-known face on the scene from his early days at the Casino (from where he earned the nickname ‘Wigan Paul’…An avid collector and a regular at Lowton from early 2000 and one of the DJ team, Paul has, over the years bought and sold more records than most have ever owned. Paul’s collecting focus has always been the rarer end of the spectrum and because of that, he brings a wonderful selection of rare, original ‘oldies’ and ‘newies’ to the venues he DJ’s at. Paul is a guy who’s really passionate about his Soul music and the selections listed just go to show and why we are looking forward to him DJing in the Main and Rare rooms on Saturday Some of Paul's Current Plays Walter and the Admirations Man oh Man Del Larks Job Opening Joseph Webster My Love is So Strong Eddie Parker I’m Gone Sag Wayfare Don’t Be So Jive Fred and the Turbines Bernadine Johnny and the Brothers of Soul It’s Allright Girl

A real Soul ‘fan’ collector, record dealer, DJ and punter, in fact, Ian has a rich history of being either a customer or a DJ at many venues all over the North-West and beyond. Ian was very much part of the fabric of LOWTON, and so it’s a great pleasure to have in DJ at the Anniversary Special as looking at his current plays, his set will be a bit ‘special’ in itself… Lowton Faves Freddie Butler Save Your Love For Me Wheelsville Matt Lucas Baby You Better Go-Go...Karen Pat Lewis No One To Love ..Solid Hit Jokers Soul Sound...Sko-Field Mac Staton & The Nomads There She Goes Prelude 5 Current Plays Talmadge Armstrong & the Escorts Give It Up...Spindletop The Mar-J's ..Got To Find A Way Out Magic Touch The Attractions..You Dont Know Boy June Bug Tabby Thomas..One Day Soul International Wally Co Co Message To Society Part 1 Florence Looking forward to welcoming Ian and his box of QUALITY goodies to CULCHETH on Saturday

Quite right Mick, we wont mention the night some unsuscpecting soul turned up selling their collection, now that was a feeding frenzy to behold, mentioning no names Going swiftly back to the music, a Saints 'On THe Real Side' 70's spin when 70's was most definitely NOT in vouge, the aforementioned Philharmonics, for your aural pleasure...happy days

Looking forward to highlighting some of the records played at Lowton Civic over the years, both in the big room and back room... This enjoyed a place on the LOWTON CIVIC story as a back room spin from some of the DJ's playing 70's and Crossover in there before many of the sounds gained more acceptance and literally crossed-over to main rooms...including thjis current floorfiller STEVE CONNOR Take a bow

Sometimes a 'picture' speaks a thousand words Hope this goes someway to explaing 'Low Rider' a little more...

Room 3 Rare and Underplayed 60’s 70’s Soul and Crossover During its 20 plus years, LOWTON CIVIC had a rich history of pushing the musical boundaries not only in the main room with an exception guest DJ list but also in the two back rooms, with everything from the very sadly departed, Pete Coulson’s R&B sessions to a brief flirtation with Soulful House. But it was the ‘Room With a View’ and the superb DDA sessions hosted by Paul Sadot, Joan Livesey and the late, must missed and much loved Karl Rhodes along with their guests, who made such an effort to be a part of these back room sessions… The LOWTON back room sessions became the inspiration for the Kenwood Suite at the BURY TOWN HALL ALL-NIGHTERS, which in turn was continued and kept us all sane during lockdown as the Bury Virtual All Nighter online stream broadcasts. We are pleased to confirm that the Rare and Underplayed room at the Anniversary All-Dayer continues that ethos and many of the DJ’s involved in some of those brilliant sessions as well as some new faces will be digging deep into their collections to bring you an unrivalled selection of rare soul sounds from the 60’s and 70’s

Now here's an 'under the radar' event that NEVER disappoints... Mine hosts, are Dab of Soul promoter Dave Lucas and Kev Rodgers, with Kev on a partial sabbatical for this one, but he has drafted in the rather marvellous, magnificent, musically-minded man that is Carl Molloy to take care of things in his absence. Guests on the day are North-West based Ged Lunt and Baz Maleedy, winging their way down with boxes of dusty vinyl to entertain the great crowd that assembles for the Groovin' Sunday sessions at the 'Tavern' in Derby.
