  1. No more nighters because of the residents in the adjacent blocks of posh flats and sound issues regarding sound proofing a listed building Ok as a music venue because it finishes relatively early plus the flats are now where the car parks used to be. How selfish
  2. Plenty more to come. Hopefully Steve
  3. Thanks Steve. Trust all is well and safe mate
  4. Help please guys, there was one for sale on here recently and i have forgotten the seller . Anyone remember ? Steve
  5. Louise. You have led a sheltered life . I will fill you in with some details when I see you next love. X nighter tonight ?
  6. Yes mate. He was on remand with a good mates brother then banged up at strangeways together, ironically the last time I saw him was at one of the very last Ritz nighters and we had a drink. He hadn't changed
  7. Yes love. Real stick em up "jobbie" as you say. X
  8. Is this the same guy that was from the hulme/ moss side area ?
  9. I was a fully paid up member of quite a few of those scary corner clubs, with me being the shy , quite retiring type of person i am. and not knowing many people Steve PS. Remember seeing my very first real handgun at the Ritz. But that's another story
  10. The was more people outside the toilet venue than inside if i remember rightly. Also the one around the corner up the stairs at the back of Oxford road station . Scary corner which one Len ? i,m guessing the emergency exit on the left in between the two bars. or the record bar ? both full of savoury characters Steve
  11. I think those of us that where there in those special days could each write a book on the antics. certainly plenty of characters to have fun with and spend hours at service stations up and down the country having a ball
  12. Not yet for me Joey. 61 going on 18 and still loving it. Infact i cant imagine life without it. Sometimes i will travel 50/60 miles to a soul night then go on to a nighter 5 miles from home or vice versa Steve
  13. I didnt let such things as a mortgage and wives get in the way As stated amazing times. Underground, with fantastic nighters at brilliant venues ,music that good its still relevant today and friendships forged that are still strong to this day. From a personnel point of view as good as Wigan but unfortunately without a certain young lady.
  14. No Mrs. I don't ever remember the dance floor being round .oval ish. Yes the subway lead to the toilets and cloakroom. You could access the subway from stairs behind the stage sort of thing. X
  15. Yes Mrs it did. I think it was in the late 80,s early 90,s when they removed the infamous steps and the chrome handrails around it, when they lowered it so as you could just get on the floor and stay on it, without being bounced back, forward or sideways . There was also a massive balcony where people could just chill and watch the dancers and things .X There must be people on here with pictures. X
  16. https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1254888 Think Neil Rushton originally run the the all dayers, ( Heart of England soul club ? ) could be fibbing with that bit. The toilets and cloakroom where underneath the main dance floor and a bit shady, ( will leave it at that ) too much jazz funk for me , but they used to alternate jazz funk and northern and it was funny watching the shift change over as the soulies left and the jazz funkers went on the floor. Which was a proper maple sprung dance floor that you had to go up 2 or 3 steps to get on it and its true about the movement, it literally moved inches which was a experience. I much preferred the nighters there especially when it was the rarest of the rare. Amazing music rammed to the rafters with soulies, fantastic record bar, was lucky enough to have seen some great act's, Tavares, Brenda Holloway . Kim Weston. Met Brenda and wanted to marry her. Gorgeous. When they started to develop the area around the Ritz they disturbed the walls of the underground canal and the water used to seep into the underground cloakroom and toilets, the smell was , let's say not very nice stagnant water. There's loads i have left off or forgotten about it but plenty of people on here will definitely remember.
  17. Very nice pictures mate . I was lucky to see two males fighting over a stunning female ( only ever seen one in my life ) but unfortunately no camera Steve

Never heard them in Manchester, still the odd one out in Cheshire but going to miss them this year again, only heard one last year and i think that it was on the Wirral . Will post the pictures tomorrow mate. They're stunning birds Steve
